I had heard this live in Sawai Gandharva may be 18-20 years back. So divine and haunting was the impact, that it played in my mind for so many years. Hearing it after 20 years again ... when searched for it, after hearing about her demise/ loss to music. I recommend no or low light, relax, close eyes and hear this for best impact. Power of Veena ji's music I was in hospital way back in 1989 after bypass and in immense pain but as soon as I shall listen to her bhajans I would forget pain and go to peaceful slumber but as soon as the music I was switched off I would wake up with pain.The music was more effective than any sedative
To my humble view, this composition is in CHAACHAR tala, similar to Deepchandi 14 beats, but its tempo is entirely different, often being used with Nirguni Bhajans, Punjabi kafi & Sufiana. We find variation in its Bols according to nature of Composition.

@dkmkartha, @mrg69191 and @derele this is none of the taals you have mentioned. This is the 7 beat SATWA, a taal devised by Pt. Kumar Gandharva, mimicking the rhythm of the hand loom. It goes like this - Dha ge-na dha-ge tina, dha-na dha-ge tina. It has both tin-s and not a khali-bhari like most traditional taals. It's done intentionally so as to help the free development of a Nirguni Bhajan.
Namaste veena ji .If I am not wrong this composition is by Shree Kashi nath Bodas ji .This Bhajan really touches my soul every time I listen to this Bhajan .You have done fantastic job rendering this with perfection .
please don't compare between to great artist !! Becase both have sung this bhajan in two different ragas !! Kishori ji sung this song in raga sudhha kalyan whare as veenaji sung this bhajan in raga bhatiyar . and both have sung it in equally good manner!!!
Please produce a CD or, better, a DVD of bhajans or other devotional songs--comined with your disciple Vidushi Rachna Bodas. You both project the supreme Rasa-s of Shaanta and Bhakti perfectly and with Pratibha shakti--better than most singers of today. And hopefully you will use a Sarangi as it has more Bhaava Vyanjakatva than the Harmonium (no offense meant to the excellent Hamonium player.) Namaste to you Pandita Sahasrabuddhe! @ykakad I think it counts 7 beats: so something like TaKiTa-- KiTa TaKa fits in. So, it could be Roopak or Tevra where the normal Theka is Ti Ti Na, DhiNa, DhiNa (Roopak) or Dha Dhin Na, TRKT GDGN. They both add up to 7 beats like the Theka played here (1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2). It is definitely not Tritaal.
