Match Game Productions, I really, really appreciate all of your hard work and have been loving watching the show again, starting with the first episode, but I’m really thinking I may need to skip ahead to episode 471 because I cannot deal with Gary anymore!
Through most of the entire run of Match Game the show was not what would be considered correct today. You can't argue with that too much; however it was meant in fun and not mean spirited like it is today and people back then could laugh at themselves and not be outraged all the time.
Gene doesn't know HOW to shut people us. When he gets annoyed with someone, he'll tell them, "Let's get on with the show" in a joking manner. It's no WONDER they kept up their shenanigan's on every show. I would have too. Gene didn't know HOW to take authority.
@@kristabrewer6736 well he can't be too serious about it because he has to keep his cool for the audience and the camera, is not that he doesn't want to, is just that he has to keep certain image as the host of the show, he can't let them get to him, i assume he talks to them when they got to comercials or after each show is over.
I don't understand why Ira didn't explain to Gary the introduction belongs to the star of the show ONLY! No one is supposed to take that moment away from Gene. Why did it continue to go on episode after episode. I continue to watch because I have always been a fan of the show since the 70's. Gary was always the worst guest they ever had.
@@beckydutra6543 and today Gene clearly admonished Gary when he was interrupting Frankenstein question n. I think production team had a long contract with him.

He got off to a good start, matching in the first two questions (although the scarf = tie match should come with an asterisk). Several of the seat #1 fill-in celebs have gone their whole week without exceeding that low bar. (Anson Williams and Jim Backus come to mind, but there have been others. -- This is not a knock on Anson or Mr. Backus -- I liked them both, but they almost never matched!)
The new week starts off with a H/H match miss today. Betty is back! I'd love to see some contestants win some cash in a H/H match with her! Shecky is new to the game. Gary is 1 for 2 so far. Elaine Joyce has yet to be chosen for the H/H match, despite her several appearances. Brett is roughly 1 for 3 overall. Will any of them be chosen this week? Or will it be all Richard all week? Stay tuned... Here's the updated leader board showing the 10 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE Betty - 50% (13 wins in 26 attempts). TIE Fannie - 50% (7 wins in 14 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 401, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Cool comment. I watch for patterns too. About 10 or 15 episodes back 3 panelists, Gene and a contestant all had orange on. (5 of the 9 on stage) Plus the orange in the background of set. Orange and green were big in the 70's.
Gee got to have the spotlight again.. Can't let Gene look good as a good host of a the game, got to have the spotlight on you and look like the good one the whole time. And I guessing once you do that then you will more him alone to the contestants before he can say anymore..
John Sudar or Scott Seth must be. I agree he tries a bit hard but not sure why the need to go after his hand. They asked him to take charles’ place they could have put someone else there if they wanted.
utopian3d Your right that wasn't fair about his hand. I could have easily made fun of the size of his head. And yes, I wish they would have had Anyone else fill in for Charles. Defending his personality means you most likely were not aware of how much he was a pain in the ass' to the cast & crew of MASH. Acting like he was irreplaceable... until he was replaced...and the show 'somehow' continued it's success without him.
Scott Seth he decided to leave the show on his own and he was not replaced, they just put Klinger in his spot. At any rate, CBS kept him there and could have replaced him at any time if they felt he was hurting the quality of the show. As I have said repeatedly, I think he tries too hard and isn’t as good as Charles for the game but apparently people like you have to make it personal and whine about something that happened over FORTY years ago.
They should make a behind the scenes mini series about the making of this show like Ryan Murphy's "Hollywood". Who would play Brett? And Elaine Joyce,? And....ugh...Gary.
Only 70 or so more episodes until Gary's gone.. please Charles.. come back
I wonder if Charles watched the shows with Gary occasionally? I wonder what Charles thought?

IMHO, Gary Burghoff is the least offensive of the non-regulars here. Shecky Greene and Elaine Joyce are insufferable.

Yes I agree I get them confused all the time. Lol
Early in the life of this show, Brett realized that asking questions meant more time on camera

Why can’t we have something fun like this to watch in the evening now?
because half of the population in the US has lost its sense of humor and it would be politically incorrect.
Gary's funniest moment ever at 16:28.
Brett's wig is particularly hideous here. Let's face it: the Polly Bergen 'do really only looked good on Polly Bergen.
where did the joke "antipasto" originate from?
After two of the dumbest questions the writers ever came up with, Gene has the nerve to suggest the contestants are dummies?
