    First trapper I've seen on TH-cam purposely going for squirrels. Ever. And I've seen a ton of trapping videos through the years. Cool.

      I think people should make a bigger deal out of squirrels because they are a missed opportunity for sure I can feed a family indefinitely

    Good ethical catches with quick kills. Glad you guys broke the dry spell, seems like the cold temps got things moving.
    We were in the 60's F last week and I'd like some colder weather for the month. Keep the videos coming. Hope you get to mix up the menu some with a partridge or something.
    Cheers.

    I'd love a more in depth look at how the snares work / traps work. Where you get them (or if you make them, how do you make them?), how you prep them, set them, take them down, store them, etc. or if you know of other channels that have that already I'm happy to check them out also! Love everything that you're putting out there so far!

    In Arizona, a prime bobcat pelt can easily bring $500. Why? Because of all fur-bearing mammals, it is the only spotted cat that one may legally trap.

    How much do squirrels bring?

    • @KuskWild
      @KuskWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think these days they average around $2. High end might be around $5. There's not much money in fur these days, sadly. We don't trap for the money though, we trap to play our role in the conservation of the resource.

    Are squirrels the only edible animals that you trap? If bait is frozen how can it attract prey?

    • @KuskWild
      @KuskWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I trap rabbits too. You'll be seeing that on the channel soon.
      Even though the bait is frozen it still has smell to it. Plus once the crows and ravens find it the coyotes are drawn in from their calls.

    Do you sell the fur from those animals . They don't put up a fight because it's too cold to put one up. They lay down to think about it and fall asleep and just don't wake up. Bad for them but good for you. It's nice to see you and your dad at the cabin together. How many beavers do you usually trap in one season.Thanksvfor sharing your video. I wish you a great year. Stay safe .

    • @KuskWild
      @KuskWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We send most of the fur to a fur auction. We usually keep a few pelts for personal use.
      In regards to beaver trapping it really depends. Some years we trap problem beavers for land owners. On average I'd say we trap maybe 6-12 beaver per year.
      I appreciate you tuning in. Take care!

    I get it from the skill point of view and if living so remotely you need to rely on the nature but it feels bit unnecessary to be honest. Lynx is such a graceful animal and pity to see it killed in such number. But different country, different customs and values.
