Garrity may have been a chancer and a scammer, but I liked the affection he gave towards his dog. He also refused to take money from a woman who was petrified of her deceased father in law returning, showing that he has SOME morals.
i love this one, since most people would be "bring back my loved ones" not "Oh hell no, they sucked...I'll pay you to bugger off" and the twist at the end, was delicious
For some reason, your comment made me think of "the power to read minds". I've told people before that you wouldn't really want that power. You'd be able to hear your family and friends negative criticism of you in their heads. You don't always want to know what your parents and your siblings and your spouse and even your children are thinking of you in their heads, lol. They could be mocking you or cursing your name at various points while interacting with you, lol. For example, someone might be saying "boy, he's a cheapskate" in their minds, haha.
@@SilverHairedFreak25 that's what i kind of wish happened. that garrity actually did business with the dead ones (something like, trick their loved ones who killed them or wronged them before death) who payed him more than the living
A pretty solid episode in my opinion. For me, it was also a clever twist to not have Garrity charge a price to revive the deceased, but to instead charge to send them back. He plays off the true nature of the townsfolk. Brilliant.
I loved the early part of the episode where Garrity vocally revealed his talent, and the bartender dropped his glass in shock, then the camera does a close up of Garrity's face. The look on Garrity's face was awesome. It was a look of confidence and maybe a drop of arrogance.
It was neat to see a number of Actors who'd appeared in previous TZ instalments pop here, with Stanley Adams playing two roles, Jensen and his ressurected brother.
@@ExplorerDS6789 I recommend. Strong moral undertones, an examination of mass hypocrisy, and a metaphysical bent, with the big twist at the end!! Good cast, too.
I actually remember this one keeping me out for the ending. The music and the weird closeup shots of the people coming back. A nice mixture of funny and spooky.
I loved the twist ending in this episode! And the fact that everyone in town had something to hide. The only thing I don't understand is how did Garrity's partner, who was disguised as the bartender's brother, was able to disappear into thin air after Garrity was paid to put him back?
I noticed that the cemetery is named “Boot Hill”. That’s the _same name_ of the cemetery right next to Phantom Manor, the Disneyland Paris counterpart of _The Haunted Mansion._ I don’t know if the Imagineers named their cemetery Boot Hill as an homage to this episode, but it’s a cool coincidence or Easter egg regardless. 🙂
I only found out that the Mr Garrity and the Graves episode existed like 12 years ago. I think it's one of the 10 or 12 most underrated Twilight Zone episodes. Channel Awesome should make a Top 13 underrated episodes list when this is all over. Could this episode have atleast been a partial inspiration for Zombie films with everyone rising up out of the graves at the end and coming back to life? Man, I loved this episode.
4:29 zelda used to be a normal name? while the idea that garrity was a normal human con man, it would be a double twist that they said he was the ghost of a con man (or a con man who can talk to the death). who actually offered his services to the ghosts. who offered him their favours (or info of hidden treasure) if he managed to trick the people who wronged them into admitting the truth (and that enabling them to come back to haunt them)
Great to see a comedy episode do well. That's so rare in the Zone. Thanks again for your stellar work. Keep it up. I will miss you on Channel Awesome but I have your other channel to look forward too.
I got a kick out of the ghosts coming out of the grave at the end. It reminds me of the Haunted Mansion at Disney or Michael Jackson's "Thriller."😎 Four episodes left. I'm pouting. 😶
A very solid and deeply entertaining beginning to the show's final five instalments, thought from what I've heard, it's not exactly an indicator of what's to come.
7:42 The revived dead of Happiness may be a form of karma for the town given the comments from the revived people we hear speak. They were unintentionally brought back to add insult to injury to those did them wrong by facing them and being ripped off.
I guess I'm in the minority. But I believe charlatans are not as bad as the people who fell for them. If you trust a complete stranger and give them your money: you deserve it.
@@claytonrios1 I mean... here's the thing. There's con artists that are completely impossible to detect before it's too late, and there's charlatans. I love the double twist of this episode, that the main character was a con man while what he claimed to do actually happens when he leaves. I do agree it woulda been better if the revived dead vowed vengeance on him though not the town themselves, but there is something oddly fitting about the twist as it stands. The villagers not only have to pay for their wrongdoings literally but they still have to face their loved ones anyway

I agree. I kind of expected the dead would descend on the con-man. I guess you *could* say that makes it a better double twist, but it just felt a touch out of place to me. Like this one dot that just didn't get connected.
Reminds me of a Kirk Douglas tv movie called Draw about a legendary lawman hired to rid a town of an infamous gunslinger. Similar ending minus the supernatural element.

I'll go a bit further: isn't Mr garrity a sort of dark version of Jesus? He also possesses some morality, despite his con. Or I'm just reading too much into it, right? 😊
