My betta tank is the first "artificial" aquarium that I created. He is in a 20L tank all by himself and the artificial everything. Boy, oh, boy! Do I regret doing it! I've had it for a month now and had to do water changes every week (more like every 10 days), anywhere between 25 and 50% of the water, because I had to vacuum the substrate. I have no idea how it got dirty like that, but it did. I'm changing his environment to a natural one this week. I've always had natural tanks and they work much better for the fish I normally keep. Bettas, guppies, mollies, rasboras and tetras. I'm never creating another artificial environment in a tank.
Better. WAY better. I love the natural balance of the father fish/LRB style tank but also I’ve been in the hobby long enough to acknowledge that there are so many different easy to successfully keep fish.
The plants you guys have that I ordered are THRIVING! I had 1 crypt come in that I split into 5 smaller plants and 3 leaves melted after a week and each plug I got from that 1 plant has minimum 3 new leaves already growing after only 2 weeks! The rotala is growing beautifully and the micro sword is so lush and sending out runners. I have had a couple plugs of micro sword for 2 years that have about 2 small runners after all this time and are super short- basically never grew since I bought them but never died. Not sure where I got those but the ones from you are so beautiful! Thank you! ❤

My 55 gallon with 20 mbuna has two large Anubias and two large Amazon Swords. They've been in there for over six months without any problems and are thriving. The anubias regularly are sprouting new leaves (one is even flowering). The Swords are planted in the substrate and I've piled smaller rocks around the bases so the fish can't dig them up. Works great.
They can be more affordable than some think! Especially when so many aquarium plants reproduce easily. Some can grow from cuttings, some grow new pups on their own constantly. 1 set of plants becomes 20 before you know it!

Hello and greetings from north Texas! Long time follower, first time commentor. I have two random questions. I don't see any water movement/surface agitation in your tanks during your videos. Do you turn your filters off during the videos or are your filter outputs facing downward? Ok, three questions total. :) Are your larger aquariums pictured in your videos and streams from Custom Aquariums? Thanks! 🐟
Plants for life! In the tank, in the filter, the sump. Just don’t let it take over the tank like I did, gonna have to cut it way back. Can’t see anything 😂.
Having planted tanks has helped stabilize my tanks and lose less fish. I like the look too. I just keep mine low-tech no co2 cuz thats beyond my skill still. 😂
I bought 1 wisteria, 1 green rotala, 1 water sprite, and 1 star grass plant. So far I've planted 4 tanks off that one purchase and still had to throw out some clippings
The filter misunderstanding issue might have come from Tank Talk or Prime Time Aquatics, the Professor is a non-carbon non-mechanical, foam and filter floss he uses.
Of course that depends on what fish you'd like to house....but as someone who has recently created their first planted tank, I can say I wont be going back to anything artificial.
