I recognize this as Ellison’s. I went to the bottom of this one in my 20’s. We had to get a custom length rope cut at Bluewater in Carrollton, Ga. When you get to the bottom of the Fantastic Pit there’s a metal canister attached to the wall behind some rocks. Inside is a notebook & pencil to sign your name. It took us 1.5 hrs just to climb back out of Fantastic with ascenders. That was a long day.
Great video guys. Love your channel.

The Balcony is 525ft. The Attic is 586ft. You got to the Balcony. I know the riggers and original explorers.
We set up camp at the top of the warm up pit and spent 3 days/2 nights playing with that pit. Back in the day, there was 40ft rope that did the Nuisance pit, short climb to the attic.
Ellison's is massive, many 500ft rappels, and there is the other side. You can trip through the mountain.
    That cave kills, just saying.
I have a photo of me at the bottom of that pit that matches your drop cam!
I also have a picture of a bat on my at the bottom of that pit.

We all have sinned, and have broken God’s law (The Ten Commandments). Wrong doing deserves justice and must be punished (just like how a criminal has to pay for the crime they have committed) but God saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins by sending His Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for us, so that we may have everlasting life. Now for you to accept the free gift of grace, you must repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ and you will you be saved from eternal punishment, and be given everlasting life. By faith you will receive the Holy Spirit and He will transform your heart and clean you from the inside out. Turn away from sin, read Bible, pray for Jesus to reveal Himself to you and change you, seek to do what is right according to the Bible. Much love and God bless.

I was thinking the same thing- didn't think it looked quite right from what I remember. And you are correct, this cave is a killer.
These guys make some good vids, but I fear they may encourage some other thrill-seekers who may not be as well-prepared to try to do the same. I am thinking of those two young college guys from FL a few years ago who died here, all because they didn't have a clue what they were getting into, and came in totally unprepared.

Hanging from bolts drilled into rock is usually at more of a sharp angle. Trusting your life to an overhead bolt where the force on the bolt is straight out along the axis of the bolt seems certain folly. I am glad that you went down that cave and got back out. True wisdom there in sending the GoPro down the pit instead of bringing a very long rope. Thanks.

The cave is called Ellison's cave and the water exits at the bottom of the mountain in a "Blue hole". The cave is over 12 miles long and extends 1063 feet vertically. There is a Wikipedia article on it as well as lit pictures of that pit as well. If you search for pictures of this pit that is called Fantastic Pit (586 feet deep) you will find great pictures of it.

7:58 According to a freefall height calculator, that rock falls for about 6.2 seconds which means that pit is about 620 feet deep. Do they even make climbing ropes that long? Is that something you could even go down? I wish drones didn't need GPS. I'd totally fly a drone down there if they didn't. That's just insane. That's the longest falling rock I've seen on this channel so far.
14:30 fell for about 7.5 seconds which makes it around 930 feet? I'm sure you guys know more about this than I do. Do these calculations sound right? I googled "deepest cave pit in America" and came up with Fantastic Pit at Ellison's Cave in Georgia but it says that one is only 568ft. Maybe my calculations are off or the Google answer is wrong.

That Go Pro device made it appear as though there were even deeper drops off to the side. I thought I saw another black void as it was being lowered down. Seeing that cave made it aware to me that there are probably hundreds or thousands of deep caves like that all over the world which then makes me wonder if someday the world will collapse in on itself far into the future. I wonder just how far down someone could go in one of those caves like that one. You all should get a bunch of sponsors, even NASA and spend 2 weeks in that cave with a bunch of other spelunkers and explore the depths of it all. Bring in tents, lights, and the works to do a grand expedition of that cave. I bet you could easily raise a few million dollars or more! Get LiDAR equipment to make 3D maps and have Garmin, Apple or some like that as a sponsor. Could probably even get Google Maps interested too. To be able to go down as deep as possible would be an amazing adventure! I’d even be interested in helping if I could be allowed to view some of the data collected. Such as, atmospheric pressure, magnetic anomalies, high resolution images taken of the layering of the walls and such.

we will definitely get down that pit very soon! the brand of our 20k flashlights is Nitecore! we are thinking about getting the worlds brightest flashlight for these caves too! it seems like we are starting to need it more and more. we don't use a foot ascender, we could, and it might smooth out our ascent, but we just keep it simple and use a chest ascender and a hand ascender. there are several reasons why we chose to use a rack to rappel. it is cheap, and the parts can be very easily replaced when they wear out. it doesn't heat up very much because the friction is spread out on several bars and the open air design cools it quickly on massive rappels. racks also rappel very smoothly. on a very long rappel the friction of the rope will decrease as the weight of the rope decreases toward the bottom of the rappel so the rappel rack allows you to easily slow yourself down with very little effort all while continuing down the rope smoothly. also if you hit a patch of water on the rope it can become very slippery or mud could seize a normal device. we haven't tried a pull down trip yet, but cavers have been known to use a single rope to commit to going all the way through a cave with one rope and find a different entrance from inside the cave to exit from. to do this a double length rope is usually used and with a rack you are able to feed two ropes side by side as if they were one strand on your rappel. then when they reach the bottom of the rappel they pull one side of the rope and it slides through a rappel ring at the anchor at the top and they continue on to find the next pit.

My friend and I thought we were krazy gnarly in the 70's entering tall sky scrapers elevator shafts, send it to the floor below where you are then open the door and get on top and ride. In a large shaft with 4 or more elevators going up & down and their counter weight blocks streaming opposite of them we'd hop from one to another, step off on beams and hop the next passing car, watchful of those fast moving counter weight stacks. That was nothing compared to this. Now at 64 Im chill but you guys bring the thrill, thanks. Im not so chill that I dont go out and seek it, I tend towards less physical action now tho, like right now with another Sunny San Diego, Ca Day Im about to hop on that Harley Davidson and get mine. lol

Not sure if it would be possible, but buying a camera better in light that does 4k would be so cool to watch. The videos are already amazing, having something that does 4k and even better in darkness would be so incredible. (However that's probably pretty expensive). Anyways keep up the great work bro, love the vids!😁

People think I’m crazy for loving caves. I’m female but I always find caves very fascinating and mysterious. I’ve been in a few caves with a guided tour. Two in particular are Mammoth Cave and Ruby Falls Cave. Since my first time in a cave, be it Mammoth, I was hooked. I’ve never gone exploring myself though. I’m a little afraid even though I would love too. Anything can happen, no matter how cautious you are. Look what happened to John Edward Jones. He couldn’t be freed and now his body is trapped till the end of time in Nutty Putty Cave. Be careful and never go alone. At least with a professional. Thanks for making these trips into videos so those of us who aren’t able to go explore like you guys, at least we can see these underground wonders through your eyes. God bless.

If you ever become seriously interested in seeing caves, especially ones not open to the public, look into The National Speleological Society. You’ll be able to connect with a local grotto and they will be able to take you on guided and safe adventures of caves near you. From what it sounds like you’re located within the Southeast US which is the cave capitol of the world. TN, AL, GA (TAG region) has the highest cave density of anywhere in the US and potentially of the world, with maybe Vietnam being an exception.
