    Great video John showcasing Cades Cove. My father had read a story about Cades Cove in National Geographic and decided that he wanted to move to east Tennessee because it reminded him of his younger life in West Virginia. We moved here when I was a young girl and literally went to Cades Cove every day for the first year we were here. At the time I didn't realize what a special privilege this was. I hiked many miles around Cades Cove and swam many days in those streams.

      Those are some great childhood memories of Cade’s Cove. Did you ever go horse back riding there? That must be really nice.

    Touring Cades Cove of The Great Smoky Mountains of TN, is an 11-mile loop that follows many of the curves and courses that settlers forged years ago. Cades Cove is a lush valley surrounded by mountains and one of the most popular destinations in the Great Smokies.

    Cades Cove is just amazing. We love to drive through and look for the bears. While walking through the homes we always think if they walks could talk". We hate all the writing people put on the walls. This is history and need to be preserved and should be respected. Thanks for taking us along John. We hope you and your family are well and had a wonderful Christmas! Happy New Years and safe travels.

    We went up there in January, it was cold and there weren't many tourists at all, it was nice. When we went to all of the cabins and the church there were no other people there. Most were cold I suppose and they didn't get out of their cars. We read all the names and dates on every headstone. Many children there as well.

    Really enjoyed the Cades Cove tour in the Smoky Mountains. I live about 50 miles away and have been going there all my life. It truly is beautiful and there is much to explore. If you go back, do not feed the bears. They can kill you and food from humans make them not afraid to get close. That’s always bad for people and for the bears. They have to kill them if they get used to people. Thank you both! 👏

    • @JohnCRV
      @JohnCRV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very lucky to be be so close to this piece of heaven on earth.
      We dint get to see bears this visit but seen some around 10 years ago and they were far from the road, we had to use binoculars to get a good look.
      Thank you for sharing this with everyone, it’s always a good thing to know for people who are not aware of the dangers. stay safe.

    My grandmother was born here (Lequire-pronounced Leekwire) and I am related to most of the people mentioned. My mother knew Aunt Becky. She would catch the bus in the Cove to go to Maryville for school; she grew up in Happy Valley on the other side of the Cove. Btw, it's pronounced "Cage Cove". For me, it is the most beautiful place on earth.

      Thank you for the information you are contributing here. I think it’s an amazing place, it’s like an outdoor museum and hopefully it will continue to be conserved for future generations to come. You must be very proud to have had relatives from this place. I can imagine the cool stories of when life was much simpler. I’m sure they had their hardships but I bet everyone helped each other. Thank you again!

    Married a descendant of the Olivers. We went to the cove while folks were still living there. Many, many years later I laid her to her rest way up high on Water Rock Knob, where we courted. Driving the parkway was lonesome then. But the old Studebaker was just fine. To get the flavor of the old cove watch the movie "A Walk in the Spring Rain".

    That seems to be a popular place for people to visit. You kind of focused on the indoors stuff. That was cool I've seen other videos of there were the focus was more on the wildlife along the roads. It's crazy how the animals act like it's no big deal when humans are nearby. I guess that's what happens when they're protected and see humans a lot.👍💯

    It’s is more readily accessible than Yellowstone or Yosemite and it sits inside two states, and very close to urban and suburban areas as well. definitely beautiful in its own right but Yellowstone and Yosemite is way much much larger, way much higher in elevation (14,550 ft Mt Whitney) whereas GSM goes as far up to barely 6.000 ft asl. Granite in Yosemite, Geysers, bison, Grizzlies, and yes, wolves in Yellowstone.
