This is a great video. If you have never visited Durham this gives you a very good idea what it looks like. I will visit someday and was surprised at so many different cuisines. Spanish, Indian, Cuban, Mediterranean, etc. really nice. Thanks for giving us a glimpse I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for sharing this video of my hometown Durham 2022. I live in New York City and it's been 4 years since I've been home to Durham. Durham has changed so much since I was born there in 1955, leaving in 1973 after graduating from Durham High School. This year, 2023, the Durham High School Class of 1973 will be celebrating their 50th Reunion. Durham High was or is located on Duke Street. I remember walking from school to 5 points to catch the bus home. Race and racism was an issue in those days in the 70's in Durham, North Carolina. Where are all the people at in Durham downtown? Here in New York City, you will see lots of folks walking around in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. 😀 😃 😄 😁 However, the Bull City will always be home and I've asked my family here in New York City to bury me in Beechwood Cemetery in Durham having a Catholic Mass at the Holy Cross Catholic Church on South Alston Avenue.
I was born in Durham in 1955, leaving there in 1973. Durham has always been a sleepy southern town and especially downtown Durham. It is nothing like downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York were you will see lots of folks walking around downtown. The same applies to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, and in Miami. By the way, I've lived in New York City for the last 50 years. Although, I lost my southern accent, I will never forget home, the Bull City.
I was there 2 days ago and it was very empty which is actually normal in many downtown American cities except for New York and the northern cities. Most American downtowns are not designed like the cities in Europe and Asia so they tend to be on the bland side.

Is it normally this deserted?
Would be good to get at least some footage of what its like during peak hours.
No. We usually film at slower times
Raleigh and Durham are ALWAYS deserted! 💯

Durham and Raleigh are not dead just depends on what day of the week you visit the cities and on fridays they both be packed
I would be hyper aware and armed to the teeth. 😅
Looks like a ghost town. Where are the people?
