The airport is operating now, with flights to Bogotá and Medellín from what I've read. (It used to have flights 30+ years ago, to Bogotá, with an airline that no longer exists. I was a passenger once!). I haven't been there for 28 years but the market and the streets are pretty unchanged. The big changes have been at the periphery, new shopping malls and high-rise apartments.
