Slayer just so happens to be tailormade to play against asuka lol. His fullscreen invincible reversal and every mappa blitzing through every cube without any questions asked is tough.

there is no proper way to play against slayer as asuka, the second he has meter to spare, you can expect a super mappa to your forehead if you do anything. there really is no good way to play this matchup beside trying to whiffpunish him on his mappas. this is just one of asuka’s ways to deal with 9-1 matchups I suppose

A Joke Character? you were playing one of his counters and he still almost bodied you, you had one job, keep away from him and spam projectiles and you couldnt manage that, just dont let slayer touch you and you win, not to mention that slayer couldnt string together 1 decent combo, just get gud
something something mappa hunch destroys all projectiles, this is slayer’s easiest matchup by far. Asuka doesn’t have any tools he can use to keep slayer from getting in on him, not even his 2D due to it’s speed and travel distance being awful to use against mappa
I think it's more about the combination of high damage, high HP, and buttons that just destroy Asuka in this MU. In other words, Slayer can lose 5/6 interactions and still win the game.
@@socom5933That doesn't necessarily mean the matchup is bad. The high damage character with no defence and no great answers to projectiles is always going to get poked and zoned by a zoner. Slayer can lose 5/6 interactions and win but Asuka can make it so even just winning 1/6 interactions is nigh impossible.

It’s not like you can throw a 2D at his feet either as the range and traveltime just don’t go well with how fast mappa is. What ends up happening is that Asuka has to work really hard and practically has to perfect due to how much damage slayer does in an interaction. Slayer’s conversion is just that good. It’s small efforts chipping away at slayer’s healthbar in comparison to Slayer two-touching asuka while he has mana
