      @@CaseyMelvin hey! As an officer do you have to live on base in the dorms? I’m trying to commission as an officer (captain O3, I have my doctorate in occupational therapy). Just wondering! Thanks in advance

    I was stationed at WPAFB and loved it. The people around the area are the nicest and Columbus is fun. Never really heard great things about Georgia but since you are an officer you will PCS a lot more than enlisted.

    Ouhhh yaaay I got married in Punta Cana (Neither one of us are from there, we just had a destination wedding lol) and the all inclusive was for the wedding as well so I always rave about going there and having a destination wedding or just going on vacation. I really want to go to Mexico too! Military is allowed there, you just have to ask permission like my husband still had to ask permission to go to the Dominican Republic and any country outside the US.

      My cousin is having her wedding there too! (not sure if I mentioned that in the video lol) I am so excited because its going to be so much different than any other vacation I've been on.

    Do all detachments have the accelerated program? The ones near to me, most have said they can’t do that or they haven’t heard of that and that you have to be in it 3 years or longer 👀

    Why didn't you want WPAFB? Just curious. I live pretty close to there

  • @1800msmith

    How do you already have your duty station if you haven’t passed field training yet?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Since I'm doing the accelerated program I am doing all four years of ROTC in one year and I'll go to field training over the summer then come back and commission. Since I am technically a 400 I had to submit my jobs and bases and get them assigned like everyone else. Does that make sense?

    • @1800msmith
      @1800msmith 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Melvin what if you don’t pass?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Makayla Smith I never thought of that as an option like I just know I need to pass but I guess I wouldn’t commission and everything I’ve done would be for nothing 🙃

    Hey Casey! I live here in GA right next to Moody! It would be super awesome if we could link up when you get down here :)

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we could do that! It might not be for another year or so because I won't even get there until December and then I still would have to go to tech school lol

    You have to take the AFOQT? I'm dreading taking it, was it too bad?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I took the AFOQT back in July and the thing that is the worst/hardest part about it is the time constraints so I just recommend getting study books and practice taking the test WITH the times that you would do for the test!

    When are you going to be in Alabama? I’ll be at OTS April-June

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I won't know until April but it'll be sometime between June- August

  • @acarter777
    @acarter777 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So when do you go to OTS? After you go to your base?

    • @Charles-wz9sd
      @Charles-wz9sd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't go to OTS if you complete ROTC. There are three different ways to become an officer; going through OTS which is similar to enlisted basic training, ROTC or going to the Air Force Academy.

    If you don't mind me asking, what did you major in? Does Air Force ROTC require certain majors? Was looking at Criminal Justice.

    I want to be a dentist (current biology major) should I do ROTC if I know I'll apply for HPSP to help pay for dental school after graduation ?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know much about how that would work and I don't want to give false information but I just looked into HPSP and that looks like a great set up if you know you can get the scholarship.

  • @jensrogel
    @jensrogel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How exactly do you join ROTC?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So first what you have to do is find a college that has an ROTC program (You can find a list online) There are also scholarships available but what you need to do first is find a school that you would do the ROTC program through and call them directly and ask for more information and I'm sure they'd be happy to help!

    • @jensrogel
      @jensrogel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Melvin Thanks!! When should I contact the detachment? Is there any specific info I should approach them with?

    • @CaseyMelvin
      @CaseyMelvin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jen Rogel I would contact them as soon as you know for sure which college you’d be going to and I don’t think you need specific information, they’ll tell you what you need to do !

    • @jensrogel
      @jensrogel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Melvin Hey sorry I have one more question!! Just to get into ROTC do I need a certain GPA? Or SAT score?

    • @weslibarber6981

      Jen Rogel yes a 2.0 gpa
