    Great review Jenny. My 55005 is absolutely fantastic, arrived with only one small part loose, easily rectified.
    One thing I have noticed is if you put all the lights on first, ie Markers, Tails, Cab and engine room lights, then start the engines, the lights go dim as the first engine cranks over, giving the illusion of load on the batteries, just like the real thing, fabulous.
    I too have scored it almost perfect. The one thing that would've given it a perfect score would be, and I really am nit picking, is when you power the loco up, if when you get to around 25% power, you hear the roar as the second engine cuts in from idle to high engine revs as per the real thing, that would've been the icing on the cake. Well done Accurascale, outstanding model locomotive.

    A first class review of a superb model, Jenny. Clearly the detailing and build quality have elevated it above the competition but for me it is that easily removed roof panel for access to the decoder socket that makes it a winner. I have 15 sound fitted locos covering all types on my layout and all were / are a pain to get into.
    Standing ovation to Accurascale.

    A great model and so iconic. If I hadn't already committed to pre-ordering an Accurascale class 30, I'd love to get one of these in early green livery
    with sound. Sadly my budget doesn't allow it. Very good review Jenny and co

    Come a long way since the Lima Deltic of the 70s. Its hard to believe we would get exited about the Hornby and Lima products back in those days. UK modellers were always short changed compared to US and European modellers. We have now overtaken i think. Superb.

    Lots of detail and functions on this bit of kit, to be honest I never noticed the paint bleed until you really zoomed in and pointed it out. So actually at normal running distances you'd really never even notice such a minor thing which to be fair, every other manufacturer has issues with too.
    Enjoy the Deltic Jen! Don't let her become a shelf queen...
    Just needs weathering a little bit now eh? 😎😎😉

    Great review Jennifer.
    The build quality in this model is next level, especially with the instrument lights working!! A model that demands P4 wheels and track. I'm always drooling about Rapido and Accurascale new stuff, but man, the standard wheelsets look awful on such a beautiful model.

    Hi Jenny It certainly looks a very impressive model of the Deltics, the sound of the horn is just brilliant! It is just like the real thing, lol. A fantastic model to enjoy for a very long time. I'm, just glad its unlikely for an N gauge one to be produced to that standard, as it would be far to fiddly for me (although if one was ever made, I might very well be tempted!).

  • @ged8896

    A quick point Jenny, the Napier Deltic engines were first produced to power smaller naval vessels such as Motor Gun Boats and Torpedo boats. Smaller Deltic 9's were also used to power Ton class patrol boats and Hunt class mine sweepers up until 2018 when they were replaced by Caterpillar Diesels. Norway, Germany, Greece and the USA also used them in there small craft too.

    These are without doubt the best model locomotive of 2022. I would still worry about anything falling off. I am not sure if it was a demand from Railway Modellers for all of these separately fitted parts or is it something that the manufacturers are competing with each other for finer and finer details. To think this (If I am Correct) started with a separately fitted smokebox Dart. I would love one of these models and maybe when the next batch is launched I will be in a better financial position. A very nice review Jenny. Martin. (Thailand)

    I must be unlucky. Mine arrived with 5 small detached pieces in the plastic wrap. Since then, 2x sand pipes, 2x bogie chains and one coupler have all been deposited on the track. It also derails frequently on a peco large radius curved electrofrog point. But, yes it's an amazing model.

    I’ve got Two of them is Class 55 Deltics;
    #1. The Locomotionmodels his No. D9002 'The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' is BR Green with DCC Ready from Locomotion Museum at Shildon.
    #2. The Rails Limited Models his No. D9009 'Alycidon' is BR Blue with DCC Sound from Rails of Sheffield at Sheffield.

    I bought St Paddy is BR blue with sound. Nothing was broken off and it is lovely. However I also ran my Bachmann in BR blue and someone watching the film thought it was also an Accurascale model. I have since ordered the Heljan DP2 and another Bachmann Deltic in green. I didnd't feel it was a massive step forward but more a natural progression we are seeing as technology improves. Interestingly several people I know that have worked on Deltics said there are accuracy issues withg the Accurascale model. It looks like a Deltic to me though! I have pre-rodered their 37 and 31 locos.

    Loco of the year!!! I wonder what the reissue will cost! I’ll definitely be ordering another couple. Only fault I can find is a buss on the speaker at the really high volume that the model comes set at.
    The broken parts in the bottom of the box was a disappointment, but a little bit of super glue and all was well.
    Well done Accurascale!

  • @juliansprott90
    @juliansprott90 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Class 55’s were a direct sales only from Accurascale or the exclusive’s from Rail’s of Sheffield, DPS or Locomotion. You can contact Accurascale and ask if any have been returned as part of warranty but I think you going to be hard pressed to get a sparkling brand new one. As a small note, and it’s just nit picking, engines inside the loco’s are referred to as ‘Power Unit’s’ and not motors. Engine refers to the whole thing, motors to the traction motors and power units, well, you get my drift lol.

    I also have 2 and only had 1 minor detailing piece in the box which is amazing given the , shall we say, "robust" nature of UK couriers delivery practices, but overall the bar is indeed raised and can't wait for their other locos to arrive, Accurascale and Loco Works models are to be commended for making such detail, and sadly no matter what packaging these companies use, the tiny detailing parts will always suffer at the hands of UK Couriers, we've all been there

    These look absolutely amazing, Jennie. Unfortunately I hesitated to put my name down on one after a couple of bad experiences with 'pre-ordering' from other manufacturers. As much as I wanted a Deltic I'd hoped they'd make enough of them so that I'd have a chance to see a review before hand and there'd still be some in stock. No such luck!
    No sign of them making another run as yet, but I'll keep checking the website just in case. Personally I'm wondering if this trend of pre-ordering something you haven't seen is becoming the norm, causing people to rush in and order just in case they miss out due to low numbers being produced. I've noticed how some are taking advantage of this too and buying multiple models only to sell them on ebay at hugely inflated prices.
    As a modeller on a budget It's a bit of a minefield out there :) Any thoughts?

      accurascale offer flexible instalments and there were about 1000 locos on sale on their website a few weeks back, once all the preorders were sent - you just need to subscribe and watch

    • @alanrobertson9790
      @alanrobertson9790 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with your pre-ordering reservations. I didn't pre-order the Deltic till a couple of months ago so was lucky enough to get one without waiting 4 years. Meanwhile 37s sold out although another variant was added recently which I managed to put in a pre-order. With 2 x 92s, the 37, a 31, Mk5a and the 89 soon to be added, that is a lot of capital tied up. With the world economy supply chains being disrupted and rampant inflation, Accurascale might well be unable to deliver on all their promises. Then there is the effect on the retailers to consider too.

    I love the Accurascale Deltic. It is superbly detailed, runs well, and sounds great. The only, very minor, issue I had was that the chains detached during transit and in trying to reinstate them I managed to mess up which means I need replacement parts. Accurascale Customer Support have been very helpful and I am looking forward to receiving the spare parts soon.

    • @kiwitrainguy
      @kiwitrainguy ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's possible attach them to the chassis and not the body as on the prototype and on this model. This makes taking the body off a lot easier. I got this from the Sam's Trains review.
