      Thought the same. Saved my pennies and braced myself when I hit the confirm order button. I don't regret it one bit. It's like carrying a flashlight, you never knew how much you'd use it until you had it.

      For some, it's definitely a big investment for sure. It'll outlast your truck though, plus made in the USA with a lifetime warranty - great company as well. I couldn't imagine having a truck without one, now.

      yeah i am of the mindset buy once cry once. i dont even have a truck yet, so long ways for me. but im loving this content and all ur content. plan on hitting u up for a holster after i get a light. just dunno if i want appendix. id like to see more m2.0 stuff and im thinking about a BCM AR. But also looking up prepper and survival gear, camping trucks etc. cover it all! haha. good stuff.

    I am not really into off roading. I am just into camping a lot. I like your set up with roof top tent on the top of your truck bed. And I found this 2017 Toyota tacoma off road with a trd rim and a nice tire, a roof rack and some few goodies for CAD$40,000.00. Now I wonder if really need a truck with crawling system on it? At my age of 64 just wonder if I really need this kind of truck. Thanks

    I picked up the heavy duty Diamondback cover last year back for my ‘17 Tacoma to secure work tools and I could not be happier. It is easy to use and durable. I also haul a lot of lumber on it and all the lashing points are perfect for tying things down. Price wise it was worth every penny.

  • @lpis45

    Hey Mike, keep a close eye on those vertical bolts that go through the box tubing for your rack. They have a tendency to loosen up because the box tubing flexes when tightening the nuts and when a load is put on the bolts. Proper procedure (and it wouldn't be too hard in your particular setup) is to have a sleeve that the bolt goes through inside the box. This would prevent the box tubing from squishing when you tighten the nuts. Hope that makes sense... I'm happy to clarify if it doesn't.

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah thanks for the recommendation, I'll keep an eye on them and see if I can find some sleeves somewhere. Local hardware store might have?

    • @LogicBob
      @LogicBob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Last Line Of Defense Yeah, you should be able to get some round tubing at the hardware store that will fit over the bolt; anything that's not SUPER thin will be fine, steel or aluminum, and cut it to fit inside the box tubing and you're GTG. Of course, some kinda locking nut would be a good addition too.

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have nylon locking nuts and washers underneath - checked and none of them were loose (yet), but had previously noticed a very slight bow in the aluminum tubing. I noticed this though when I originally mounted it because of how much I tightened the bolts.

    Very comprehensive review! Had to let go of my White Toyota Tacoma and bought a new Black Silverado. Won't get the Diamondback Smooth Cover until mid June. Security is my main reason for the purchase. I'm really interested on how other functionality can be incorporated in this unique cover. Later, I plan on getting some secure Yakima Kayak holders - probably roof mounted. Access to the bed is important during camping trips. I will continue to monitor your videos for creative ways to utilize the Diamondback Truck Covers. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos.

    I commented on another video not too long ago about not liking truck bed covers that open near the front and back. But as i'm looking at them more from pictures and doing research on whats out there i think these diamondback covers are growing on me more and more, just how versatile they are, i mean, i can't open the gate on my truck with my current cover while its closed and i always the cover i have from the beginning, the passenger side of the hinge in the back doesn't close and its way tilted from the left, almost like it's being blocked while its completely empty. I definitely have to purchase a diamondback as soon as possible

    I got a trd 4Runner since I knew I'd spend a ton to secure the bed. Plus you can sleep in the back if you have a roof rack to put your junk on. But to each his own.

    Hey Mike, I'm really digging your channel. Just wondering if you could share why you upgraded to the HD cover? I read a few comments here where you mention the SE would work for this setup. Does the placement of the rails add additional load rating? I weigh about 250 and wonder about being in the tent with my gf, who is only about 100lbs. Are their other benefits you could share between the two models? Sorry so many questions.
    Thanks!

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think the SE would hold up fine - Diamondback might recommend the HD to match up with their posted specs, but the SE is a very solid cover and a little lighter as well. I have the HD at the moment, just because they wanted me to test a few changes they made, so I was using it.

    • @BoudreauxBoswell

      This video is of the HD. You can tell by the number of cross bars on it around the 15:22 mark. If you look at this Diamondback Review Vdeo that is the SE model you can tell by the cross bars around the 7:58 mark. That along with the blacked out hinges and hardware on the cover in the new video suggest that he got a new HD cover in the past month or so(when they upgrade to all black hardware) Which would make sense as the weight he was attaching to the top of the SE model was probably not recommended!

    What happened to the bin you had in the bed, took up too much space?
