@Kennedy Grey This is a 5.0L GT, it uses a cross plane 1-3-5-7. You are confusing it with the the flat plane on the GT350 vehicle that has the vodoo 5.2L motor. Most newer performance fuel injected vehicles now have tunes that include added drama to the exhaust by aiding the vehicle with crackles and pops.

I purchased my 2018 Mustang GT Premie PP2, manual, in 8/2018 from a dealer for $48,600. It’s black on black and always turns heads and collects compliments where ever I go. It’s a beast of a car and a total joy to drive. I had a Roush cold air intake kit and flash drive installed by a dealer to remove any warranty issues should something break. I’m loving the magna ride because it removes an all time stickler with me. I like to go in hard and come out fast and hate when a car sways, rolls or leans to the outside of a turn, not with magna ride. When on the interstate going around a city and you come to an under pass with a down hill and sharp curve no need to lift. It sticks good except starting out from a stop. At speed the car definitely demands both eyes on the road and in the direction of travel and anything else can only be a quick flash look and back forward again. Unless you are cruising on a smooth level surface attempting to do something on the display like input a destination it can be a monumental task. I try and race it on track days whenever possible and enjoy the option to set up the suspension, exhaust and tuning all by moving a few switches. It’s addictive cause when I’m not able to drive it for a couple of days or more I truly miss it. It’s the same with my wife cause when we are going somewhere local we both want to drive so we agree on either driving there or on the return trip. What’s fair is fair. Thanks for your review.
Just do PP2, drive it on the sport cup 2s until they die, in like 10k miles, and then replace them with sport 4s tires, safer in wet and plenty of grip still to maybe race it. Or just get a second pair of rims and use the factory ones with the sport cup 2s for track days.
Yeah, I've got an SRT 392 with the adjustable suspension. It handles fine enough for me - especially in Sport and Track modes. I've heard the new Widebody Challengers with the 305's all around handle the best of them all. We are living in great times when it comes to American Muscle/Sports cars - no matter what brand!

I always loved 'stangs, but my kid, ( and me kinda ) think the mopar easily looks the best. that t / a 392, is really intriguing me fam, i might have to go there, plus, im a big dude,( 6'2 240 ) and i like big booty chicks, those little muscle cars, simply aint doin' it my man...lol

I have that car, but with pp1, same seats everything. I had a 17 gt350, we were not loving the flat plane crank engine, just not enough low end torque. Plus I now have the new 10 speed auto and I LOVE it!! I have short legs and the clutch in the 350 was killing me. Hubby just got a used 2015 gt, manual, but he does enjoy that 10 speed auto, it is so fast.
Great review Steve. Your spot on about the steering and big wheels/tires. These cars walk. I have to smile because it doesn't matter who the reviewer is, when they drive the 18 GT at some point there is always a little smirk or a smile. For the money you can't beat a mustang gt.
I would simply change the tire. Solving the wet weather problem. I tires are wider you can put an harder compound and better rain ability wihtout losses to the "regular" Mustang.
It’s a little ironic that the Performance Pack 2 is only available with a manual transmission but a Mustang GT with the Performance Pack 1 and an automatic transmission is faster 0-60 mph and in the 1/4 mile. My buddy bought a 2019 Mustang GT with the Performance Pack 1 and 10 speed automatic transmission because of a physical disability keeps him from driving a manual transmission. He loves his car. He has already lowered it and had the dealership install the new Roush 2650 supercharger along with a custom tune and exhaust and is now pushing just over 800 horsepower at the crank. He’s run 10.5 second 1/4 mile times at over 130 mph consistently at Pacific Raceway near Seattle. His car is an absolute beast considering he’s only added a few aftermarket upgrades.
If I were to have one of these, I'd probably buy it in the summer. Then in the colder months, I'd just swap the tires out for a set of michelins, or any comparable tire. And for me at least, that would be a solid, fun daily.
Great review and straight to the point. I'm loving the sports cars the American car companies are putting out today. If I hadn't bought my new ZL1, the Mustang GT PP2 or GT350 would've been my next choice. Of course manual transmission only for me.
I bought the PP2, not because I couldn't swing the $60k for the GT350, but because I couldn't justify spending $20k more on something that has a hard time running away from me in the PP2. Is the 350 a better car? Absolutely, but no where near $20k better.
saleen367 the gt350 will put laps on a pp2 with the same driver. The brakes are smaller and swap the cup2 tires and even on highly technical tracks it's a drastic difference. The PP2 is quite a value, but there's already vids out showing the 350 walk the PP2 in the straightaways and dive and turn in harder on technicals. And not for nothing I bought my 350 for $52k, so show me where I can buy a PP2 for $32k and I'll be on my way

Daniel Blaney my 350 has bigger brakes a wider body, a better suspension, a better transmission, trans and diff coolers and 75 more horsepower with a better sounding engine/exhaust. The ONLY thing I'd trade off a 350 for the PP2 is the seats. If I want to drive something based off comfort or interior amenities, there's plenty of cars that better fit that niche.
Great looking car. Really looks slick with the new wheels and front end. Just needs to be lowered an inch and a half to get rid of the crazy wheel gap.
Actually ...GT350 has better transmission, Tremec vs. MT-82 gear spread with slightly higher torque rating... but you already knew that. The MT-82 (in this newer version - does have a better gear spread than last version of the PP equipped mustangs, but that a whole different matter). Ford keeps "tuning" the 6-speed manual by changing 5th gear and 6th gear to either 1.1 + over drive or double overdrive... playing with the EPA mpg vs. better acceleration.
Great car, though Ford needs to resolve the durability issue with the cast aluminum shift forks on the 6spd manual. The 10spd auto (sacrilege to me and others) is much more reliable and not half bad (probably faster on a drag strip or general acceleration) ... The issue appears to mostly affect the 2018 6spd manual. No solid evidence on the 2019 models... yet. Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited.

I love mustangs, and this is probably the best looking one this side of the previous gen GT500. But 51K for a suspension setup and tires and rims is a little ridiculous to me. For that price point you can get into a mildy used GT350, with more hp,torque,brakes, tires...get the picture? Not to mention ( fanboys ) an SS1LE that will still outrun the PP2. You can find them all day high 30’s to low 40’s right off the showroom floor.
+... I doubt if anyone, in the USA, who paid way over sticker for GT350, is going to let one go cheap! ....But 51K for a suspension setup and tires and rims is a little ridiculous to me. For that price point you can get into a mildy used GT350, with more hp,torque,brakes, tires...get the picture?... Just because "MSRP" was listed at 54K, doesn't mean many of them went out the door at that price. You will need to adjust your ambitions a little further North - even for a used one. Very nice. Direct and port injection is nice and shows Ford is learning from others (Toyota). A car that rewards the driver with the only drawback being the price. I wonder if these (PP2) will be on the lot or order only... Oh Steve, ditch the "jazz" music in your intro, it's unpleasant; however, I'm all for more glorious soumds of this mustang's exhaust as you rip through the gears. #savethemanuals
After spending a day at the track driving the pp2 and the 350 I have to say that ford dropped the ball. The 350 is a much better track car. They should have gave the pp2 all season tires and the 10 speed. That way the people that didn't get the 350 because of the manual could have had something close in performance and street ready tires... the rims are killer, they are definitely the best part of the pp2 package.
I've never own a pony but I'll tell you this it would be a manual,to put a automatic in a pony is like putting instant grits in a southerner not going to happen l😎

All I can say is I tried Riccaro seats and hated them instead I opted for the red and black showstopper interior fit me just fine.
And you get heated and cooled seats which I use every day.
I have the Mach 1 HP which is this car except times 5. Literally better in every category. And I have the Tremec also. 😉

Looks like a Bullitt with bigger tires. Less tramlining with Bullitt because 255/275 Michelin PS4S tires not 305’s.

Well your right about the 350, but this PP2 is actually faster than the 1LE now. At least as tested at Car and Driver's most recent lightning lap

More reliable then a GT350!
Is it really a budget? It cost $50k plus and u can a get a slightly used GT350 for that or less.
So the clutch on this is similar to other Mustangs including the GT 350?
