Very cool old gentleman to show you around the generator, engine, and well.... how interesting ! Cool finds too and I don't blame him for not wanting the location revealed....he'd get over-run with gawkers, tourists, etc....very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed this ! Thank you much for posting it ! 73, Dave in Mi aka KC8YOX

I'm almost ready to bet (and hope) you are going to bring that tv back to life with all the crap still in it, like you did in a previous video. Things like this are just fantastic to witness, and a good indication of the build quality of the device. Not to mention the skill and guts of the one doing the repair.
But even if not, just seeing this dirt filled ancient set that was exposed to all that crap for decades live again, is enjoyment enough.

The quantity of stuff out there left to rot boggles the mind. That Panasonic is super cool, I've never seen such an old Japanese set with a decent size screen, only 12" and smaller. Hope it gets its own video, am curious to see how it's put together inside, and how it survived being rained on with bat shit since the eighties.

This is gotta be one of your best vidos so far. I like the stuff that Panasonic made. When it comes to japanese stuff, they were about the best. I remember seeing a while ago some transistor radio that was branded by General Motors or something like that.
The engine is plain amazing. Today not only you just can't repair machinery most of the times, sometimes it's also _illegal_ to try and do so.

This homestead brings back memories for me.
I had an old chinese dong feng one cylinder diesel tractor motor that i attached a fan belt onto a generator in the 80's
We were off the grid in nor cal mountains. It was damn hard to start with the hand crank in cold weather. I sometimes put a can
of sterno under the oil pan. Finally said screw it and had the flywheel machined and a ring gear and starter put on
with a remote start button inside the house. I completely feel sorry for this old guy in the cold months with that monster.
    He really needs photovoltaics

That genset is surely similar to the first one up at Mt Baldy, Sandpoint, ID. My Gramps (USFS) in conjuction with Northern Lights built two huts up there in the '60's for radio equipment for the two of them. Later, power was run up the hill, and the old diesel was replaced with a standby LP genset. I've never been able to find info on just what the old girl was. We could hear it run...just like this one...clear down the mountain at our place.
