  • The point of this video is to show how to remove the pin inside the gas block that goes through the barrel. It is extremely difficult to get off but it can be done with the appropriate technique and persistence. ***Not mentioned in the video (common sense), is to make sure and have a comfortable base for upper receiver to rest on. Do not place it directly on the floor because you will damage it. I used a folded microfiber towel on top of a plastic bag jumbled together as a base for it, while I was hammering down on the pin on my concrete floor. Also another thing…: at the end when hammering down (vertically) on the gas block to slide it down the barrel after the pin was removed, I was holding the barrel in the air while hitting it. Do not rest the barrel on the ground and hit on the gas block as it will damage it. You can also put it back on the vise grip and hit horizontally to pry the gas block loose.

That stool to sit on is helpful when putting your foot on it. Also as the description says..: make sure to have a comfortable base for the upper receiver like a towel.

😂 I feel your pain it was a bastard to get out I used heat also but to no avail only thing I did different was I used a grinder on the nipple of the pin them I went THOR mode on the hammer and punch finally It came out sat down had a couple colds and told myself damn glad I'm not putting that SOB back on 😂 American made is an understatement

Lol I was thinking about using a grinder too or just sending it to a smith. Had put it away for at least a couple months until one day I said fuck that I’m winning. Thank god for those heavy duty, big ass punches though.

@@creamonmynutella2476 get those heavy duty punches and you’ll be set. They’re strong enough not to break and large enough to cover the pin so all your force transfers to it when you strike it. The goal is to get it flush. Once flush, it’s easy.

Broken three pin punches trying to get this block off. Bout to just take it to a smith.

@@lucasdavis9741 don’t do that bro. I was feeling the same way until I got those heavy duty punches from Amazon. Either set will work. They’re heavy duty enough to not break and big enough to cover the pin head which makes it easier to punch it flush. Once you get it flush you’re set.

I'm getting ready to try toremove the gas block from mine as well. I really appreciate the reference material you have posted. Is there anything you wish you knew at the beginning of the process that you know?

Just having those heavy punches and a decent size hammer. It’s really that simple. You can try heating it up for a while before you start.

That’s why you have to get the big ones I used in the video. They can withstand and deliver more punch to move that bitch.

Maybe record you doing it instead of doing it then recording you explaining it. Thanks for the useless video.

The video also has sound. Use your eyes and listen next time. You might learn something.
