I cannot wait for whenever you make a video on this new project, because it's very clear that tetherball enthusiast Dan Fornace has many more ambitions beyond what he achieved with Rivals of Aether.
I love Rivals so much, it’s so good to see more content about it. It’s the best platform fighter i’ve ever played, and anything that helps grow the scene fills me with joy. So happy to see you talk about this amazing game and community!
Thank you so much for making this video. As of late I've not given rivals as much of my attention as it deserves and you have reminded me what amazing fun it is. This game is an absolute love letter to competitive smash fans and people who really want to commit to learning a fighting game will not be disappointed. I've got every piece of dlc on steam and have supported these guys from the beginning and will of course move over to switch to bring the action to my living room. Cannot wait.
Don’t forget that the Smash scene loves ROA, a lot of mainly dominant smash you tubers commonly play rivals (mainly just workshop memes) but in Smash centric tournaments there always big rivals tourney, both at Genesis 7 and Frostbite 2020 there were large ROA events.

I have never come across your channel before, but I have been a Rivals player for the span of the past year and a half, loving it to the point that I was able to get a lot of the Smash locals in my region to also have Rivals, starting a small but caring and passionate scene. Seeing a video like yours able to get our game out there and put us in the spotlight is amazing. It lets us grow and become an even greater community and I thank you for that. I will definitely be looking into more of your content! Keep up the good work!
0:26 Since you brought it up, I would like for you to cover the strange history of Shrek Superstar Slam. Especially considering it has a pro scene and tier lists, with 1 character that has an infinite and is permabanned.
I've been following the game since the beta(although I only managed to buy it last year) and was still able to get some new info from this. New to the channel, very good video
I'd always seen snippets of info and pictures of this game but I never really looked into it. After watching this video, i bought it on steam and i am excited for it to drop on the switch.
Been a secret fan of this game for nearly 4 years, Never really had many people to play it with, but always enjoyed seeing new content come out for the game. It's crazy to me how much one vision can be carried to make a whole new take on a well known idea. Even to a point where now we see rollback and fan made workshop characters become permanent on the cast list. This game rivals Smash from it's gameplay to it's handle with community and I honestly couldn't be happier to see such care put into a game like this, as no other has come nearly as close in the time it's existed.
After seeing that matchup between Forsburn and Ori and all those cooloves being used with such rapid flow and precision, I definitely want to main Forsburn now. I should really get this game.
Been playing Rivals for years now and I'm super excited to play it on Switch! Can't wait to see the new wave of players that try this game out for the first time!
Now you need to do brawlhalla. That game is getting huge and is crazy good with a lot of cool unique features. Btw I love rivals and have played since release and i love smash and have played competetively for at least 4-5 years. I love all three games and do not want to start a war.
I would say that but I think brawlhalla already has enough attention Games like rivals of aether with smaller audiences and communities need exposure like this
I'm telling you guys, next episode needs to be about SpeedRunners. Not Speedrunning, that's not an esport. SpeedRunners is a game that hasn't been a big esport in a very long time.
This is a prime example of how consumers don’t know what they want until they see it. It never occurred to me how much better and faster Smash would be if you removed shields and ledges. Now that’s all I can think about. Also, I could never fully master wavedashing, so it’s cool that someone made a game where that’s accessible to everyone. I will definitely check the game out.
I hope they make the things competitively usable for RoA (idk how skins go in the world of BH). I love the Ragnir skin, but the deceptive hitboxes/animations really make me sad
@@jehezz that doesn't change anything. 1) smash was never mentioned. This is a discussion of the RoA/BH crossover. 2) the Ragnir skin has deceptive hitboxes and animations. Just because another game does it doesn't make it OK. @@MrInsdor Lots of talk recently that questioned Sky housing a bunch of minors (notably some Super Smash Bros players) in one house with no adult supervision. He also owes hundreds of thousands of dollars from borrowing from many people and lying to them what the purpose of the money was.

I'd argue that until Nintendo will monetarily support smash tournaments, Rivals is the best platform fighter for an esport since they crowd fund larger pot bonuses at all the majors. Like at this point Dan Fornace and his team are just a non-profit lol
Nah, they still dont make as much as ult or melee players. Plus those scenes are much larger so their tournaments, just from entrants alone are much better for competition and payouts.
@@NinteddyRose they make more off of streaming and stuff because the game is more popular right now but you are just wrong about the tournament payouts. Every pre-covid major within the past year or two that had smash and rivals at, Rivals had a bigger payout then smash4/ult or Melee. If Rivals was as popular as smash then Dan's team would be able to crowd fund even more money for these pot bonuses because they are all raised from the community. Smash will never do that so the money has no room for growth outside of external sponsors, higher entry fees, or more entries. So I stand by the fact that Rivals is the best model for a platform fighting esport. Yeah the top players dont make as much from streaming and stuff but the whole goal of a real esport is that you play the game and dont need external incomes (ie streaming or YT).
@@saigesmart4167 No one on this earth is playing rivals as their only job lol. So No, it is not the best model for a platform fighter esport. The only tournament that paid more for RIvals was G7 and that was due to an entire years worth of selling merchanidse and the dev adding 4k to the pot bonus. Other tournaments consistently paid less. Hell, Dream hack 2019 paid 5000 to melee and only 1,200 to rivals. Also, having your community fund your tournaments isnt a great ESPORTS model at all. Having your game being big enough to grab the attention of sponsors is the model to have. That way the game doesnt need constant funding from its playerbase.
One small thing that made it so successful I think is that when you showed that silhouette if I didn’t know this video was about Rivals I would have been able to recognize it. Meanwhile if I saw another platform fighter I might think it was smash.
yup, Steam Workshop has characters including but not limited to: Tetris, Dwayne, TNT block, Bomb-omb, Sans, Mario Pissing, Donald, 100% accurate Fox, and many, many more.

This is the typo of non-Overwatch stuff I subbed for. Can't decide if I want more of this stuff for Overwatch now.
Never heard of this game before but now I think I might want to buy it. Great Work!
Hope you enjoy it!
this is an amazing game. please i recommend it try it :D !!!!!

Since you brought it up, I would like for you to cover the strange history of Shrek Superstar Slam.
Rivals is super sick and the community is great, if you're interested in more competitive-oriented games you should definitely give it a try!
After seeing that matchup between Forsburn and Ori and all those cooloves being used with such rapid flow and precision, I definitely want to main Forsburn now. I should really get this game.
9:42 remember that time dunkey beat sky in smash?
I can't even remember the last time Sky Williams posted a video on TH-cam. This must be one of those rare appearances.
didnt age well
@@adcrengar9877 about that
Been playing Rivals for years now and I'm super excited to play it on Switch! Can't wait to see the new wave of players that try this game out for the first time!
7:13 that is a suitcase
I don’t skip the ads because this channel deserves money for the quality it puts out
this video remembers me of that time Dunkey beat sky in smash
Sky the Leprechaun?
9:38 Jesus I was not ready for that.
Yeah...
Now you need to do brawlhalla. That game is getting huge and is crazy good with a lot of cool unique features.
Btw I love rivals and have played since release and i love smash and have played competetively for at least 4-5 years. I love all three games and do not want to start a war.
I would say that but I think brawlhalla already has enough attention
Games like rivals of aether with smaller audiences and communities need exposure like this
Thank you for the video!
I'm telling you guys, next episode needs to be about SpeedRunners.
Not Speedrunning, that's not an esport.
SpeedRunners is a game that hasn't been a big esport in a very long time.
Ah man, had a lotta fun with friends in SpeedRunners. Good game, pretty underrated
Thanks for this video I actually found this game from this video and I'm loving it.
Hey, glad you enjoyed it!
Power Stone for the Dreamcast was amazing too!!
i hope brawlhalla and ROE gets another crossover
I loved that crossover, it’s rare to see two small rival games in the same market work together
I hope they make the things competitively usable for RoA (idk how skins go in the world of BH). I love the Ragnir skin, but the deceptive hitboxes/animations really make me sad
They joke-mentioned another brawlhalla crossover when spitballing ideas in the new rivals direct, so... maybe?
@@fezthedracky8468 deceptive hitboxes??? bruh brawlhalla compared with smash in terms of deceptive hitbox is nothing
@@jehezz that doesn't change anything.
1) smash was never mentioned. This is a discussion of the RoA/BH crossover.
2) the Ragnir skin has deceptive hitboxes and animations. Just because another game does it doesn't make it OK. This community cares about the competitive integrity of the game, hence why we ban dumb shit like this and 0,0,0 custom skins that hide animations.
Awesome! Someone finally showing how amazing this game is. Thanks for the great video
If there's a game that I'd love to be recapped like this, it'd be Skullgirls. That game deserves infinitely more recognition.
good prediction
ROA is the only game where i have Ronald McDonald fighting scout from tf2
This was awesome! Love dfornace, etalus and the gang. I'd love to see a feature on Lethal League / Lethal League Blaze community!
there already is one! they made one around a month ago!
@@TheJoshAries Oh snap!
Loool introducing Dan with footage from the direct is perfect
me: this video is pretty good
Akshon: *interviews sky*
me: this video didnt age well
So happy you included Ronald, legend quality here
9:37 welp it's gonna be weird seeing his face from now on
Why?
@@MrInsdor Lots of talk recently that questioned Sky housing a bunch of minors (notably some Super Smash Bros players) in one house with no adult supervision. He also owes hundreds of thousands of dollars from borrowing from many people and lying to them what the purpose of the money was.
I've never seen a video more deserving for a like, fantastic job man.
Yes!! I love this game so much, I especially love how all the characters are viable
Dan Fornace would be proud of this video if he saw it somehow.
@@adcrengar9877 he's talking about it on Twitter lol
Honestly, having super smash flash as part of my childhood, rivals of aether brings a lot of nostalgia and that's why I love it
I haven’t played rivals for a long time. Ill try it out again. :)
please do
This is def the best video about the game I’ve seen as someone that has been interested but was not able to find quality content
Rip Sky being a weird scammer tho
Oh geez Sky is in this video😖 that hasnt aged well. Great vid tho!
“Rather than camping. Which has become common in newer smash titles” Your god damn right.
*stares intensely at Samus*
@@saigesmart4167
No one on this earth is playing rivals as their only job lol.
7:13
Hol up. Is that a suitcase???
Yea, that's why TSA gets really anxious when they see one. It's not what's inside that's dangerous but the suitcase itself.
yup, Steam Workshop has characters including but not limited to: Tetris, Dwayne, TNT block, Bomb-omb, Sans, Mario Pissing, Donald, 100% accurate Fox, and many, many more.
No, it’s a dragon.
the only game where you can play as sans vs obama 10/10
It is on sale right now so you better get the game now and all the dlcs, for unique infamous skins that you won't be able to get after DE releases.
The game and the character dlcs are 17 dollars, all 50% what are you waiting for.
I am soooo happy to see Rivals getting the credit it deserves.
love this type of video! just watched the lethal league one and I'd love to see more videos. some suggestions maybe
battlerite
heavy metal machines
splatoon
awesomenauts
ARMS
brawl stars
clash royale
team fortress 2
titanfall 2
ARMS is kind of sorta super boring. Interesting, but not in the least engaging.
I remember getting this game free on Xbox, that was probs one of the most fun games I've ever played
I think you underestimate the steam workshop meta. Undertale Yellow clover VS Minecraft Steve is a very cool matchup that everyone needs to see
i love rivals and am so glad you’re giving it attention
When the sequel comes out in full 3d I think a lot of ppl will get into it.
Eric Cabussú ohh yeah the little hint in the Rivals Direct. Man that was an amazing video, and it definitely made you question what was real since it was April Fools, until they announced that everything was real. I honestly love ROE and I think they’re going in a great direction with the definitive edition and everything.
I've been on and off with this game since 2016 but legit this has been the best $15 bucks on steam I've ever spent in my life! I NEED TO JOIN BACK INTO THIS COMMUNITY
rivals has honestly the best platform fighter gameplay.
like, honestly, it rivals melee
Was that pun intentional?
@@sonicbhoc it just happens
Unoptimal Punish / Rio! it just works
The switch releases is interesting because any smash set can double up as a rivels set up for tournaments.
