As have I brother, I’ve also heard that his most loyal son Guilliman would want isyander himself to do it, he would bring great praise to his house for doing so
Someone at the administorum died at their desk, fell on their keyboard and released this video under the wrong title whilst also dooming 5 different systems to starvation.
13:20 The way they both had to pause for a moment to laugh at the casual absurdity that Isyander says "When she died THE FIRST TIME" absolutely kills me.
It's also such a mood that it's Koda, the relative newbie to 40k who catches the absurdity, which pulls Isyander to recognize something he'd been ready to just gloss over.
Can we take a minute to process something. When Angron, demon primarch of Khorne does, he gets 8 weeks of freedom from the butchers nails. Celestine, an ostensibly good person, gets this.
I love the slowly evolving lore of Poor Stooge. We have a pair of Planetary Governors from the family line, one loyal who got Bugged, one who turned traitor and got Raven Guarded, and now a Guardsman... and an Ultramarine? I will love when we get there. I also vote for the Crimson Fists and the 12 Hour Heresy video .
*Fulgrim* "Father, i think i like men." *Big E* "Thats fine just crusade" *Perturabo* "Father i think i like men too" *E* "For the imperial truth, do any of my creations like women" *Celestine* " *MY LORD* "
I can't help but feel as if the green ones are always the happiest in 40k. Nurgle alligned chaos are one happy, grotesque family, the salamanders get to talk to their families and the orks? Well, they're literally in their idea of heaven! Green is clearly da best colour in 40k.
I think my favourite thing about Celestine in 40K is that she can be seen as the a good hero but she is doomed to fail forever in the 40k universe (currently). that's what's grime dark about her, she is always doomed to suffer and then she still inevitably never really moves the needle. or she never moves it enough to truly matter
Not to be confused with the Dark Eldar that turned into a glowing beam of light and ran around the Galaxy shouting "I'm the greatest motherfucker ever!"
53:00 You ever consider that the Emperor, who weaponized the warp to make primarchs, warp travel, etc. took a person and is intentionally keeping them in the middle of the ascension process to becoming a greater demon? That makes her equal parts demon and human. I forgot which book it's in, but it's established that Celestine was the endgame for Emperor's goal. To ascend humans to a middleground that's capable of dominating both realities. The primarchs were supposedly attempt 1, and Ephrael Stern was attempt 2. Btw Ephrael Stern iwent through the same process that the Emperor went through to turn into the Emperor, minus the chaos gate to become super powered. So technically there's a female Emperor just walking around.
Hyped when the Vashtorr episode comes around next week. I have a personal crackpot theory about him and the other new prospective gods (Big E, Ynnead, and T’au’va) all ascending and becoming an “order” pantheon to counter the chaos gods, since WH Fantasy had order gods as well, and it’d be a fun shift to the status quo of the setting. Each of them work really well as counterpoints for the chaos gods too, Big E is clearly a reflection of Khorne, Ynnead as a death god would be a good reflection to Nurgle (ignoring the Eldar ties to Slaanesh for a second), Vashtorr would be a good reflection to Tzeench since they’re both about creation, but Vashtorr is innovation with structure instead of constant change and mutation, and T’au’va is a good mirror to Slaanesh as a god who cares about love and happiness, but not in excess and applied compassionately rather than sadistically. If AOS could add a fifth chaos god with the Great Horned Rat, 40k can add a handful of new gods
A Sister would absolutely become a Repentia because she stole a pen. A lot of Sisters become Repentia not because they actually did something bad, but because they think they did something bad, which in the case of the Sisters and their zealotry is anything short of complete perfection.
The entire concept of the Sisters Repentia sounds really similar to the Space Marine Death Oath, minus the stripping of armor, but there seems to be more similarities than differences
Wow I can’t believe Saint Celestine is actually quoted with saying “I will find Peace and Hope and all wars will end when Isander and Koda do the 12 hour Horus Heresy video”
So my take away from the last few minutes of the video is that Celestine is Big E's adopted daughter. The baby of the galaxy's most dysfunctional family. Poor girl.
1:01:01 Primaris Sisters of Battle A vaguely interpretable blueprint that relies on faith rather than science. Like a more Cleric vibe rather than a paladin. A toned down version of Celestines Revived goons Like a Custodians armor up is rather nonchalant A space marine is a whole ritual This new Sister of battle suit up would be like Mass
Im with the "she is a demon" camp. She is blessed by the Emperor who I feel is actually the 5th chaos God, and the only reason we see them teaming up is the fact he had gotten too powerful.
I used to not liking Celestine. But then I read about everytime she fall in battle, she has to climb back up a mountain of skulls that is her previous deaths... Turn me into a simp real fast
Khorne has a skull throne, which is very metal. Celestine chose the very emo alternative of climbing a mountain of her own skulls. Under that very shiny, golden hood, she's grimdark to the core.
hey Isyander & koda, I've been following you guys for a long while silently now and I absolutely love you two and what you do, its been many a day and night i find myself listening to or watching your videos, ive loved warhammer 40k for years but never truly gotten into the deep meat of the universe and i must say your brief but always interesting takes and chunks of lore and your shenanigans and puns have really reignited the passion i had for 40k when i was first getting into it and i am glad for it, keep up the incredible work, youll have another patron soon. praise the emperor, he truly protects.
Just so you know Isyander you could totally build a deck in mtg (especially mono white) that would make Celestine, The Living Saint's ability straight busted. I'd recommend a True Conviction and cards that stack trigger abilities like Strionic Resonator. Do that and you could just martyr swathes of creatures in suicide charges at your opponent only for them to be resurrected at the end of your turn. Heck run a Solemnity and Phyrexian Unlife and make both you and your creatures immortal champions of the God Enperors light.

Honestly one sister amongst all the Primarchs would have ABSOLUTELY been a wild game changer. That's 19 different brands of brother for one sister to interact with. What a hilarious and confusing nightmare and blessing that would be.
Destiny 2's Warlock class has a super for its Solar element called, "Dawnblade." The sound when the super activated is what I imagine is heard across the planet as she manifests.
The way Celestine comes back is most similar to old Perpetual lore, from the era of 10,000 shamans in a trenchcoat Big E, so she's probably just stuck without the upgrades that Fulgrim got
Imagine dying dozens of dozens of times, and every time you have to walk through Dante's Inferno sans spiritual guide. After all that, you still have that burning, wrathful fury to cross a galaxy and lay waste in Big E's name.
My current understanding of Saint Celestine is that she never uses an avatar nor has any need for one; she materializes within real-space on a suitable world once she's done sorting herself out in the Warp. Not all Imperial Saints do this. For example - After Saint Sabbat reincarnates within a willing and suitable, young human female, I argue that she is closer in concept to a daemonhost. The incarnated Sabbat does seem to retain the memories and emotions of the person she takes over but I feel that there is strong evidence that original soul of the host is subsumed when Sabbat's soul inrushes to occupy the new avatar.
Thank you guys for doing this podcast, it really helps me get through the week when I see you guys have a new video up. The way you guys talk about the lore is really refreshing and makes me proud of this gloriously complicated hobby we share.
As much as I wanna hear about the Tau, SERVITUDE IS BIRTHRIGHT and as such, the servitors shall have my vote! Koda, I hope you can find some joy in the prospect of other episodes that don’t involve a hairy, sweaty TI-83!
As someone with three older sisters, the idea it would be more civil is laughable. Later in life? Sure, but the Harry Horse would've happened *far* sooner with more than just two sides.
I had given up hope that we were getting this this weekend. I was content with the space marine 2 content. Now I have something to listen to as i go to sleep!
Honestly I want the sisters of silence to have a proper blank army. It'd be really cool if there was a blank almost as strong as a custodian. And the emperors reaction to one.
My theory on why Celestine can stick in reality unlike most daemons is that her God - Big E - is physically in reality. None of the chaos gods are. So her "anchor" is in reality, rather than the warp.
My crusade began on patreon but all media sharing platforms will bask in the glory of my purpose. I am here to demand our long overdue Emporers Children video, the legions of Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch have all had their time in the spotlight and now it is time for the last of the chaos gods legions to make themselves known
Basically Celestine is his favorite adopted daughter. The Fall of Cadia even described her as the spiritual daughter of the beneficent emperor when she fought Abaddon.
Celestine and the Tau have the same "grimdark" theme: the futility of hope. Both have hope for fellowship and cooperation, but are beaten down by the reality that everything sucks.
Hey guys, I just wanted to point out to isayander/ koda that on Spotify this episode the Celestine episode is labeled as "everything you need to know about the space Marine legions" but as a title copy of the space marine legions episode.
I’ve heard say that the emperor of mankind requires a 12 hour horus heresy video
