I think your right Greeno , what a disappointment.square patties are just a gimmick in my opinion. You’ve made my mind up for me , not for me thank you .👍🤩❤️
Greeno, as an American, I can assure you that Wendy's is just as bad here in the States. Wendy's was pretty good 20 years ago, but they have since dropped any semblance of quality control.
@@GreenoEats - actually, people are moving to better restaurants here in the States. I live in Rockford Illinois, Where we are going to newer, slightly more expensive, independently owned or small franchise places in which the food is miles better than Wendy's. I think the kids are still flocking to crap fast food joints, but if you are older than 30 or 40, you prefer quality over quantity.
They’ve had one here in Chelmsford for around a year, about a month ago I walked by with my little dog, poster in the window advertising a cheeseburger, chips and a drink for £4, I turned to the dog and said “I’ll come back tomorrow and have this lad, I can’t today as I got you with me”. Next day I went back on my own, the poster had gone and now the price of the meal had doubled, I walked out and went and had a Greggs. Anyway, excellent vlog Greeno, hope you’re well
My son and I tried out the Chelmsford branch. Couple of doors down from 5Guys and I doubt if we’ll be back. Not too bad tasting burgers, cold chips and far too pricey. At least they weren’t sweating in the foil wrap like 5Guys! Fancied a change but won’t be back I’m afraid! Problem is we have 6 Maccies now in Chelmo and I’m sick of the buggers! 😂
@@paulbutler61125 guys are the best I’ve had from an American FF burger chain but they are expensive. There is a British burger restaurant near me that does gourmet burgers that’s the best I’ve had. They also doo this hot cookie dough desert in different flavours and it’s divine.
I've had a Wendy's on a few occasions here in the UK and haven't been disappointed. I'm not surprised the fries were cold as you'd left them standing there for five minutes! 😂😂😂
If you go again, may I make the following recommendations... Order the double, cheese only, and ask for pickles on the side. This way your burger will be made to order... When you order the fries, ask to have them made to order so that they are hot and let them know that you don't mind waiting... If you ask for "no salt" then it would be even better because that guarantees they will be hot and crispy. (You can ask for a couple of salt packets on the side....) I don't know if they will be as good there as they are here in the U.S. but a chocolate frosty has been one of my favorites for many years. Try dipping your fries in the frosty. Sooo good! 🍔🍟🥤
yes this makes perfect sence, i always get my MacDonalds with no mayo or sauce (because i hate mayo and tomato sauce ..and pickle) and its always fresh and hot, havnt tried the chips with no salt thing but i know someone who does, the coffee is always cold -any ideas ?
@NickyfromDunedin If you don't mind spending a little bit of extra time, almost anything is possible and all you have to do is ask to have a fresh pot made. ☕️
@@GreenoEats we all make mistakes. Better to have told them and give them a chance to recify it. Then you can judge how efficiently they deal with isues. A bit unfair include their mistake in the video without giving them a chance to put it right.
No Wendy`s here in Germany - obviously no loss as I just learned. The dominant jalapenos reminded me of my grandma who always said that overly heavy seasoning was used to mask poor quality or food on the edge of going bad. Well, greetings Greeno!
One-and-a-half out of 5 is too generous, Greeno. The only Wendy's left in the UK are franchise operations, I have read. The company-owned branches left the UK some years ago, apparently. I went to the Brighton Wendy's a few months ago: terrible food, terrible building, dirty, rude staff, over-run by uncontrolled out-of-order school kids (during normal school hours!). I was out of there as quickly as possible, meal unfinished etc., etc.....?Get the picture? The very worst of the worst. Absolutely awful. 0/5 from me. A good, fair review. Many thanks, Greeno.
I'm from Brighton and generally have to disagree - I've never had a bad meal from there. Yes, it's overpriced but most fast food joints are. I've never had cold food (maybe I'm just lucky) and the staff have always been helpful and friendly. I certainly prefer it to the McDonalds just down the road
The difference between how the burger looked on the screen when ordering and what turned up in reality was shocking. They should be done for false advertising Greeno 😂
I am really enjoying watching your videos, I love how you always stick to the positive side of the food 😀 you have such a lovely personality 😊 I don't subscribe to any other but you have got me hooked 😮 (you are 1 of 3 subs)
Here in canadian Wendys all I order is the double hamberger, regular fries and the chilli which they are well known for. I would not have ordered wraps or any other burgers here. My 2 cents worth. But cold fries are unforgivable!
@@GreenoEats Another thing is that the meat is always fresh, never frozen and when they don't sell, they use that meat and make chili with. I guess that's why their chili is so good. I love that buttery beef flavour of their double burgers.
I went to Wendy's in Reading, Berkshire a few years ago. Never again, it was naff; to be polite! But I do have 2 unresolved questions...(1) who is "Dave" and (2) why the square patties? 🤷♂ That chicken wrap looked pathetic. The chicken fillet was so small, it was totally lost within the wrap. I know you said the double cheeseburger was OK, but for the price, I still would rather McDonald's. For the price compared to McDonald's, Wendy's is just not worth it. Greeno, as always a great review, but I want to also recognise and applaud one attribute of a lot of your reviews, and that is that you sit inside and also speak your mind. I love that! Some reviewers will not say anything until they have left. The only way these places will improve is if they get to hear the comments, then maybe they may take notice. I hate food waste, hence my fascination with TGTG, but Wendy's belongs in the bin.
Apparently Dave is the guy who set the company up, and the square burgers were due to a slogan that they "don't cut corners". Not sure that applies to their Portsmouth location!!
Greeno, one of your regular fans here and I need to ask: What kind of Brit are you? No onions? Next you’ll be telling us you don’t like Twiglets. It’s always hard to tell from comments but I’m being sarcastic. Just don’t mean to offend anyone.
I live in Portsmouth and I think Wendy’s is great (I found it to be just as good as in America and Indonesia, the latter being a place I lived for 4 years). I only had one bad experience at a Wendy’s and that was in Camden (burger was cold despite the fact it’s meant to be cooked to order, place was dirty too). I’d give it another chance if I were you, the Dave burger and chicken nuggets are usually great.
The Wendy's here in the town I live in in Canada is actually really good. The food is usually hot and the burgers there compared to other fast food places are one of our favorites. They also have great meal size salads. It is too bad your experience was not so good.
As a Canadian been to many Wendy’s. Never had the fries ever. The reason for going to Wendy's is the baked potatoes. The burgers are okay from Dave Single to the Baconator. Don’t forget the Frosty.
I’m surprised. I first had Wendy’s back in 1984 when I worked near Covent Garden, and loved them. I was sorry they left the UK, so delighted they have returned. I have been to the branch in Oxford a number of times, and the burgers have always been fantastic. Fresh and tasty, the salad excellent. The branch you visited need a visit from Wendy’s HQ to get their house in order. I think Wendy’s are brilliant , you were very unlucky.
if you can eat a round pizza cut into triangles and put into a square box then a square burger in a round bun isn't so bad 🤣🤣🤣 Nice video keep them.coming 😍
Sorry you had to do that. The last time I was in a Wendy’s was 14 years ago and that was what my son wanted to eat. Your observation about why would someone put a square burger on a round bun was hilarious. Maybe Dave wanted to prove you really can put a square peg in a round hole. Great video.
I’m an American and for the past 20 years or so the only items I order at Wendy’s are the sour cream & chives baked potato, a large chili and a chocolate Frosty.
@@GreenoEats All these fast food restaurants turned franchises have plummeted downhill over the last 20 years! We all turn our noses up at communism, But Capitalism absolutely stinks when it's in full flow lol
Tell you what, can I suggest you have a trip to Barcelona, go to the Sagrada Familia, stand at the entrance and look right. You will see an entire street occupied exclusively by junk food purveyors. You could spend a couple of productive days confirming what we all should know already.
Not sure about all the sides and other things as I haven’t tried them, but if I just want a fast big cheeseburger, fries and drink, I’m definitely going Wendy’s
My Wendy’s experience in Camden was pleasantly surprising. Me, the ball and chain and 3 kids ate all for about £23. Everyone liked their food (fries were far better than MacDs and BK) and the kids got a toy each. I ate the bean burger - a little dry but a pleasant change from fake meat. Good value and everyone happy. Seems that was an outlier experience judging by the comments and this review. Edit: Maybe it was around £25.
Yeah, yours looked bad - non melted cheese? How is that possible? ( I know - cold food). Still, with the whole world to try, there is no reason for you to ever go back there. Did you ever go to the Gunwharf Keys Loch Fyne? I went there and got bad poisoning from off crab. I made a real bad mess at Haselmere garden centre on the way back. Keep up the good work Greeno.
I remember when Wendy's had a branch on Shaftesbury Avenue London, close to Piccadilly Circus, where McDonalds is now. At the time (several decades ago) it was great to have an alternative to McDonald's, Burger King etc. I might be mid-remembering, but I recall it being a far superior product to McDonald's, so it never made sense to me when they closed all of their UK branches. It's a shame that they've returned to the UK and are apparently offering some "underwhelming" products.
Apparently the underwhlming thing is not a surprise to US residents, who have said there has been a noticable decline in quality in Wendy's stateside in recent years.
It doesn't travel well then cos the Wendy's I had in Vegas was pretty impressive. It's good you did this though and hopefully more people do videos on Wendy's in the UK to show their name isn't well represented over here and they improve the quality of the food in UK franchise's.
Great review! I’m a new sub and really enjoying your content 😊 I tried it Wendy’s once. Wasn’t impressed - the amount of grease was insane. I’ll stick to Mac Ds
When Wendy's opened here in Dunedin, there was such a hype that it was impossible to get anywhere near it. So I waited until the fuss died down. I shouldn't have bothered. I tried one burger. It was vile. Enough to put me off ever returning. There is a far superior local burger place (steadily growing and spreading to other regions) and when the need arises, that's where I go. Wendy's can whistle! And so can Taco Bell! No desire to even find out where that is, but it is here!
hello Dunedin, im in Wanganui awaiting taco bell (two years at least they have the section and consent, probably not going to happen now) we just got a burger fuel, the other loves it, but its pricey, better off spending that money on a lamb roast or something else that would last longer than one meal, especially for a family i remember when MacDonalds opened in Dunedin, i was only 16 but the first thing i noticed was all their rubbish blowing about all over town -disgusting -always thought there should be a council fee takeaways should pay to clean up their customers' mess we always wanted Georgie pie back in the day as we saw the adds on tv, it only arrived in time for my 22nd birthday - then in a few years MacDonald brought it out and then it closed
@@NIckyFromDunedin They are building a McD's in Green Island - taking over the site where the Commercial Inn was. No pubs in Green Island now - everything changes! Wow that looked completely different to the standard I get in my Wendy's in Lincoln - never had a bad meal there and it's much much tastier than McDonald's
Good evening, Greeno, curry bean burger sounds so good... I only know Wendys from the internet, they dont have stores in Germany. Well, the burgers all looks very sad 😂 Well, good to know I dont need to go. Thanks for the review, wish you a great evening!
Happy Sunday Jessi - yes unfortunately it was a disappointing experience, I was hoping for much better !! The idea of the curry bean burger is good though isn't it, just a bit more inteesting as a vegetarian option. Shame the execution was off.
Wendys is usually immense. The one in Leeds has been really good when i went earlier this year. I have the opposite opinion of 5 guys, usually bad stodge
We are new to the channel and are subscribed We live the states and our opinion of Wendy's is the same as yours. However with one difference, the only thing we liked was the HC Fruit Punch. And like a commenter below it was decent 20 years ago. No more QC. Nice Video. All the best mate 👍👍 Jim and Harriet from Virginia
Hi Jim and Harriet, welcome to the channel and thanks for the sub. It’s a shame Wendys are letting themselves down, should get their house more in order before looking to expand
Greeno, I managed a Wendy's restaurant a little over forty years ago. I'd have been embarrassed to serve much of what you ate in this video -- actually, all of it. Yellow lettuce? Half-filled wrap? The fries looked like an accident. Wendy's appears to have lost its way. It never served gourmet fare, but it was a cut above the other fast-food joints when it came to good burgers at a fair price. When I was there, we served just burgers, a single type of chicken sandwich, chili, and salads. Oh -- and Frosties. All were very good for fast food, mainly because there was a genuine corporate concentration on quality. The more these companies expand their menus, the more difficult it is to maintain quality on a budget. Shame. They're not sticking to the formulae that brought them success. That double cheeseburger that was the best of what you were served didn't look all that good, compared to the old standards. Shame, shame...
That’s really interesting to hear from someone with inside knowledge of the company. I must say I was surprised by the lack of quality in the meal, given how popular the chain is in the US. I guess that’s always a bit of a risk with the franchise model though, some locations will be run better than others.
@@GreenoEats Good point. You remind me of another factor. When I was with them, all stores were company-owned for the very reason you gave. Accountability for maintaining company standards was easy to maintain.
@@adejupe8308 I did okay. Actually, we had a couple of people who were faster on the grill than I was. I remember a day when we got hammered with business (two school buses) mid-afternoon and only four of us (three part-timers and myself) working. One took orders and pushed them out, another worked the grill, another worked the fry stations and drinks, while I bounced around to help wherever I could (including the drive-thru). The employees were so up to the challenge that we maintained both quality and speed standards, resulting not only in happy customers, but all of us felt a rush of accomplishment that is hard to describe. It probably sounds simpler than it is, but bragging rights went to those three hourly employees for quite a while. I think that a lot of people look down on fast food workers in general, but, like people in any occupation, some take more pride in their work than others. The people I worked with on that day were the best of the best.
By the way, is there any place that does a seriously good wrap? It’s something that I really like the idea of but am usually left disappointed wherever I order one from.
Problem I have with these videos is that although I appreciate what is being done….its pretty pointless. This because by the time you’ve explained what you are trying to do and so on….the food has gone cold. I’ve tried Wendy’s. It’s ok, nothing special but the food has been hot.
I had Wendy's a few times when they were in the UK the first time in the early 90's. Oxford St and Shaftesbury Avenue as I recall. Then and Now it was their classic burgers that were the best thing. The problem with a lot of fast food places is that they are now so dear that for a few extra quid you'd might as well go to Five Guys and have quality food. 👍
I’ve been going to Wendy’s since 1979 😂. The only thing that I have ever ordered is A Triple Cheeseburger w/ No Tomato & a Chocolate Frosty Milkshake ✅ sometimes I get 2- Triples & put them together for a 6x Patty Cheeseburger ✅❤️😂. I love Their Triple Cheese 🥂🙏 Cheers 🥂

I don't think you picked great things from the menu - the burgers are usually really fresh (esp the spicy chicken burger) and people mainly go for the Frosty and you missed the nugs.
I live in Alaska and from what I understand even though they advertise never frozen patties, the patties are frozen which makes sense since it takes time to ship stuff up to Alaska. I remember the last time I had anything from Wendy’s ( it was a while ago) and I remember that it was not as good as it was.
Been to that one a few times and had baconator and the loaded chilli fries and it was ok .Better than macdonlds we thought!!!But do try Popeyes as they are better than KFC 😊
Dave Thomas the Man who inverted Wendy’s used to work for Colonel Sanders & KFC. He was a true genius. He invented the Square Burger patties because he could fit more burgers on the grill at once w/ no loss of space & he Never Cut Corners 😂w/ his product. Also seeing 4 corners of the Patties hanging over a round Bun Looked more appealing & attractive ❤. I have never liked their French Fries 👎. Their Baked Potato w/ Chili & Cheese used to be very good Not so much now I’m afraid. I’ll always just order a Triple Cheese w/ No Tomato 🍅. Cheers 🍻🇺🇸🇬🇧🏴
My experiences at Wendy's have been generally positive, but, I have found that things go rapidly down hill the moment you leave the relative safety of one of their simple burger and fries combos and venture into the more esoteric regions of their menu. I say this following a recent terrifying encounter with one of their wraps .
I was with the family today and thought we would give Wendy’s a try for the first time ever…saw the prices, saw the surroundings of the one I was in which was horrible dimly lit and very unwelcoming…we literally walked out and went for a pizza elsewhere…saw your review tonight and am so glad that I made the right decision.
I guess after the last lunch (the pricey one by the celebrity chef) you had limited funds! Wendy's reputation has been slipping in the states as of late. I'm not surprised by your review. Thanks again Greeno! Once again you review all kinds of food. I really love your channel.
That's very kind of you to say, thank you. I assumed that given it's popularity in the States that it must be good - interesting you say that even over there it's not quite so good now.
One thing I notice about Wendy's is that they vary in quality massively from one location to another. The one closest to my home is terrible. The one near my work is great! Pro tip: never ever get avocado/guacamole anything from a fast food place.
There are only so many places out there to cover - and let's be honest it helps to build a rounded picture of a place if you see more than one review with more than one opinion. You wouldn't just read the first review on Tripadvisor right :-)
I used the very first UK Wendy's in Oxford St (London) back in the 80's it was very good then, but smaller burgers than in the States, they closed the UK restaurants a few years later. Sad to hear it's no good now, well I guess they'll be closing again! Good review.
Thanks, Greeno. £19.00!? Cold food, barely average quality content, avocad missing, no drink, no card pay, horrible environment. Avoid these heavily branded "Oh its American!" crap holes. Support your local cafe! I do!
In the 90's I went to Florida on a fly drive holiday and frequented many a fast food joint (which is why now in my 50s my arteries are 'mildly' furred up😊😊). I saw your vid, had no idea Wendy's were in the UK so full of nostalgia, I watched with interest, remembering the 90s food I once had. What a crushing disappointment. There really is not one aspect of 21 century life that hasn't had the life squeezed out of it....the bare minimum for the cheekiest maximum. Thanks for the review, really helpful. I will never go to Wendy's yet I doubt they care about losing customers.
Yes, at the end of the day it's more about corporate greed than anything else these day. How to squeeze the maximum amount of money from the consumer for the minimum cost.
I had Wendy's and I had a Meal Deal of Dave's Cheeseburger. The Jr Meal cost £3.99 you get a kids meal of chicken tenders, Cheeseburger Deluxe with small fries and a small drink. At least the burgers are cooked to order.
im glad it wasn't just us, we were so excited to get a somewhat local Wendy's, (Parapaumu is at least a half hour drive (with zero traffic) from Northern Wellington but it was crap , -although in all fairness the chillie in the little pottle was kinda nice but have never been back
Wendy's had a few branches open in Z1 London in the 1990's and IME back then, I recall they were a bit better than the BK's and McDonalds of the time if you wanted a hamburger to taste like an actual hamburger, even if the patties were square ...
Ah, hi Greeno. Never go back some folks say. Me, not sure. I tried the square patties almost 25yrs/30yrs ago. As a USP, not much to shout about. Fast food was in its early stages. Wimpy, Golden Egg, fish'n'chips and traditional greasy spoon café. They left in around 1998/1999 high costs was given as the reason for departure from these shores. Don't think they caught on😱😳As I recall the patties are fresh never frozen, not sure if that is still the case. The one thing you should expect in a " fast food joint " is HOT FOOD " and no excuses. And missing fillings in the wrap☹️very poor standard. Well will I try the new wave 🤔to be fair & honest I can't remember much about the long ago experience, so maybe give it a go. Cheers Allan&Family
Wendy's in Leeds opened a year ago. We we haven't been to McDonalds/Burger King since. All the food is cooked to order, fresh and delicious. Brioche bun? Which burger specific fast food chain serves burgers in a Brioche bun?
Perhaps the Portsmouth branch is just a duff one then? Can happen with the franchise model. As for brioche buns, ok maybe not McD or BK, but they're blooming everywhere!!

I remember WENDYS back in the 80's i used to visit the one in Leeds and it was then miles better than Maccy D's. The last one i had was in Canada and again it was great.
I was never a fan of fast food. A bean Burrito from Taco Bell in California almost sent me to the hospital once. I ordered some 7€ MCDonalds Burger recently and on the last one they put rotten salad. Rotten to the point that the edges already turned into a black carbon slime. When I buy ingredients for a burger and make it myself, I know whats in it and it doesnt even cost half.
When the napolese invented Pizza, they served them on plates and you eat with a knife and fork, enjoyed with a nice glass of red. 🍷 The big deep dish sugar salt laden round monstrosities in square boxes are an American thing.
The only thing I get at Wendys here in the states is the Frosty. And I stopped buying them because they price has TRIPLED in the last year. They used to have a jacket potato with chili. Now they are sold separate and the price has TRIPLED. I like Dairy Queen burgers and I go to Culvers for burgers and fish and chips.
I had a Wendy's the other day, I waited half an hour for food. When I got fed up I complained they were like it's coming and that we had tore-do your order!!! it unsettled me for the rest of the day as I wanted to do other stuff with my time and ran out in the end. I'll be back because I quite like their fries. Also one day try a shake shack Greeno you don't look back.........
Wendy's used to be really good when they were everywhere in london in the 1990s . they vanished and then came back to UK once again but definately not as good as before!!!
American here. Even back when Wendy's was "good" I thought it was an overrated fast food place that didn't deserve it's large amount of locations. It would be the place we'd go if nothing else was around. Always thought their burgers were mediocre, some of the most bland fries of any fast food chain, and the chocolate frosty that everyone raves about, barely tastes like chocolate. It tastes like semi-sweet air. So yeah, just not a fan. Nowadays they're even worse. I don't understand their success and their ending up in the UK. I wonder if it has to do with the name being good. Wendy's is a good name for a fast food joint. It's got a classic Americana type ring to it with a logo that is a bit more iconic than whatever burger king decides to go with on any given day, or chik fil a's stupid cows, or Jack in the Box's weird polygonal shape man. I think brand, name and logo have done a lot of heavy lifting for Wendy's in my opinion. I also think that if it weren't for them releasing the baconator in the early 2000s, Wendy's would have gone out of business. While the baconator is ok at best, it sold like hot cakes and I feel that there's a good chance that if that never got released, Wendy's would have gone bankrupt at some point. That's just pure speculation.
It is amazing that such a large American company is so slap dash at ensuring their franchisees are performing at 100% customer service standards but every review I have seen regarding Wendy's outlets has been similar to your experience. In 2023 they were bragging of having 30 locations and so far 3/4 the way through 2024 they have only added 3 more to their rosta. Fortunately they do not have a franchise in York and I cannot imagine they will either - the competition in our city is such that the sort of poor quality you suffered would mean they would not stay long. One of their recent new franchises is in Whitby and the one review I saw of it was dire - even the toilets were broken and out of service so imagine what the ordering screens would contain in terms of microbial wildlife!
I live in Big rapids MI United states. Our Wendy's is possibly the highest quality fast food place we have. Far better than our McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's, Taco Bell. Our Wendy's almost always has hot fries. I feel like the people at yours were not trained lol
I used to eat Wendy's in Australia in the 80s and in London when I came back in 1985. They were great but disappeared. I'm disappointed if they aren't good now. Is get the double burger with everything, the chilli con carne, the apple dumpling and a shake. Unsurprisingly, I'm fat now.
The only time I eat at any fast food place (McDs, Wendy’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Popeyes etc) is when I am too tired to cook and they have a really good coupon that brings my purchase down to less than $2 and I have a savings of at least $3 off the regular price. Wendy’s is within 5 min driving from my house and I may have stopped by once in the last year. Very rare for me to have fast food more than once a month.
Wendy's is actually my favorite burger in town, here in Canada. But there are only two items worth getting IMO. I don't know if you have them on your menu in the UK. A Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger and Jr. Hamburger Deluxe. The Jr. Deluxe is a lot like a Whopper Jr. It's the best value in town and a nice ratio of bun and veg to burger. There is nothing else at Wendy's I really like, and I wouldn't have liked your items either.
Nice review greeno....the square Patty thing I believe is when they first opened in the states they had a slogan "Wendy's where corners are never cut" ....don't get the sound buns though!!
Just been to that very branch, they were out of lettuce and the larger patties you had, only had the junior burgers. I have to say they are usually pretty decent if you stick to their core products, burger, chips the baked potatos are good too.
Looks like complete stodge, cold stodge at that. I'd have a Five Guys meal over a Wendy's ANY DAY. Five Guys actually looks substantial, and tastes lovely. That just looks flaccid, squashed. It actually reminds me of the burger joint scene in the Michael Douglas film "Falling Down".....if you know the film, you know that scene. I went into a Popeye's, and after faffing with the automated service point, I walked out. Why? HIDDEN CHARGES ON EVERYTHING.
its not the same after dave left the company. Corporate greed has absolutely wrecked it, what you guys need is an in-n-out. By the way the square patties was daves idea, he wanted your first bite to be a salty beefy one and the patties were thinner, had way more maillard, and protruded much farther out.
Evening folks! Hope you've all been having a great weekend. I'm off to Wendy's - have you ever tried it?

I’ve walked past the Chelmsford Wendys many times, but never been in. Now I know not to, thank you!
Hmmm, after this review, I don't think I'll bother with Wendys!
They were clearly cold in the first place, as they were never warm enough to melt the cheese!!
windys burgers are amazing
If you go again, may I make the following recommendations...
Order the double, cheese only, and ask for pickles on the side. This way your burger will be made to order...
When you order the fries, ask to have them made to order so that they are hot and let them know that you don't mind waiting... If you ask for "no salt" then it would be even better because that guarantees they will be hot and crispy. (You can ask for a couple of salt packets on the side....)
I don't know if they will be as good there as they are here in the U.S. but a chocolate frosty has been one of my favorites for many years. Try dipping your fries in the frosty. Sooo good! 🍔🍟🥤
Good tips, thanks 🙂
yes this makes perfect sence, i always get my MacDonalds with no mayo or sauce (because i hate mayo and tomato sauce ..and pickle) and its always fresh and hot, havnt tried the chips with no salt thing but i know someone who does, the coffee is always cold -any ideas ?

Wendy's here in the UK is pretty good. Their chicken nuggets are top notch.
Wendy's was in the UK from 1980-1986, and then from 1992-2000. I used to go to one in Lewisham forty years ago. It was pretty good back then.

No Wendy`s here in Germany - obviously no loss as I just learned. The dominant jalapenos reminded me of my grandma who always said that overly heavy seasoning was used to mask poor quality or food on the edge of going bad. Well, greetings Greeno!
Well if they do come to Germany I wouldn't rush there. And your Grandma sounds like a wise woman!
Been really enjoying your videos mate and the wife and I hope your channel is an absolute success. . Well done you 👏 👏
Thanks Richard, I really appreciate that !
Wow, sounds like you had an even worse time than me!
I'm from Brighton too and I have to agree that the food is disgusting! Also the Brighton Popeyes is also disgusting!
@@sam-dn9hr Another one I know to avoid!
Has a fast food burger ever looked like the picture??
Nice one Greeno, you will crack the 15K subs soon. Those burgers look flaccid. Same comment from Mrs.

Here in canadian Wendys all I order is the double hamberger, regular fries and the chilli which they are well known for. I would not have ordered wraps or any other burgers here. My 2 cents worth. But cold fries are unforgivable!

@@martinquinn9007 Awesome burgers in Harv ehs, and I also don't recommend wraps and others over there especially the new vegi burgers!
That chicken wrap looked pathetic.
I like cooked onions, but raw onion is just too harsh and takes over the flavour profile. And I LOVE Twiglets 🙂
I may well do, I hear the chilli and jacket spuds are worth trying too!!
The Wendy's here in the town I live in in Canada is actually really good. The food is usually hot and the burgers there compared to other fast food places are one of our favorites. They also have great meal size salads. It is too bad your experience was not so good.
Maybe I just encountered a duff store, can happen with these franchises
As a Canadian been to many Wendy’s. Never had the fries ever. The reason for going to Wendy's is the baked potatoes. The burgers are okay from Dave Single to the Baconator. Don’t forget the Frosty.
OK, I'll know for next time, thanks :-)
Congrats each time i watch a review your subscription count has gone up 😊.
Thanks, it's nice to see the channel growing at the moment :-)
I’m surprised. I first had Wendy’s back in 1984 when I worked near Covent Garden, and loved them. I was sorry they left the UK, so delighted they have returned. I have been to the branch in Oxford a number of times, and the burgers have always been fantastic. Fresh and tasty, the salad excellent. The branch you visited need a visit from Wendy’s HQ to get their house in order. I think Wendy’s are brilliant , you were very unlucky.
Maybe it's just a bad location, as many others have been moaning about the Portsmouth site!!
if you can eat a round pizza cut into triangles and put into a square box then a square burger in a round bun isn't so bad 🤣🤣🤣
Nice video keep them.coming 😍
Fair point 🤣
Sorry you had to do that. The last time I was in a Wendy’s was 14 years ago and that was what my son wanted to eat. Your observation about why would someone put a square burger on a round bun was hilarious. Maybe Dave wanted to prove you really can put a square peg in a round hole. Great video.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I’m an American and for the past 20 years or so the only items I order at Wendy’s are the sour cream & chives baked potato, a large chili and a chocolate Frosty.
I agree; review these top items.... Chili, baked potato with fixings, and chili.....

Not had it in the States, would be interesting to see how it compares

When Wendy's opened here in Dunedin, there was such a hype that it was impossible to get anywhere near it. So I waited until the fuss died down. I shouldn't have bothered. I tried one burger. It was vile. Enough to put me off ever returning. There is a far superior local burger place (steadily growing and spreading to other regions) and when the need arises, that's where I go. Wendy's can whistle! And so can Taco Bell! No desire to even find out where that is, but it is here!
Makes you wonder what all the hype is about doesn't it!
hello Dunedin, im in Wanganui awaiting taco bell (two years at least they have the section and consent, probably not going to happen now)
we just got a burger fuel, the other loves it, but its pricey, better off spending that money on a lamb roast or something else that would last longer than one meal, especially for a family

I bet you learned your "Grill Skillz" though!!
Good question - probably not the fast food places, more likely to be independent places.
Problem I have with these videos is that although I appreciate what is being done….its pretty pointless. This because by the time you’ve explained what you are trying to do and so on….the food has gone cold. I’ve tried Wendy’s. It’s ok, nothing special but the food has been hot.
Food should not go cold that quickly. Also, those fries were already cold before the cheese was put in them, as it never melted!
@@GreenoEats I’d of taken it back. 19 quid was spent. Food has to be hot as it’s made to order.

You'd think McDonald's would get through enough salad that it would be fresh every day, that's disgusting!
Maybe a square burger in a round bun is the same as putting a round pizza in a square box and then cutting it into triangles
Somewhere there is a mathematician who can make this all make sense!
When the napolese invented Pizza, they served them on plates and you eat with a knife and fork, enjoyed with a nice glass of red. 🍷
The big deep dish sugar salt laden round monstrosities in square boxes are an American thing.
That looked very unappetising. I would not have eaten it. Well done Greeno, for taking one for the team!🙏👍🦘
I didn't eat most of it lol!
The Baconator is hands down the best bacon buger I've ever tried
Really? I found the bacon really bland on the loaded fries
@@GreenoEats there's a LOT more of it in the burger. IF you do go back, get it, you won't be disappointed sir
Tripling in price, that is madness. Surely other customers must be voting with their feet too?
I had a Wendy's the other day, I waited half an hour for food. When I got fed up I complained they were like it's coming and that we had tore-do your order!!! it unsettled me for the rest of the day as I wanted to do other stuff with my time and ran out in the end. I'll be back because I quite like their fries. Also one day try a shake shack Greeno you don't look back.........
I actually had my first ever Shake Shack this week, video to come in a couple of weeks time 🙂
Wendy's used to be really good when they were everywhere in london in the 1990s . they vanished and then came back to UK once again but definately not as good as before!!!
This is their 3rd time to try and crack the UK - based on my experience I am not sure they'll be any more successful this time!
Keep up the great work greeno!
Top stuff
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Yeah I think they are hoping that the name, and the fact that a lot of McD locations are pretty mediocre will carry them through. I fear it won't!
I can't imagine they'll do that well in Whitby either with all the great chippies around!
I live in Big rapids MI United states. Our Wendy's is possibly the highest quality fast food place we have. Far better than our McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's, Taco Bell. Our Wendy's almost always has hot fries. I feel like the people at yours were not trained lol
This can be an issue with the franchise model, some venues inevitably better run than others!
Five Guys are great......and a KFC wrap in the UK was the best, ironically
I do like a Five Guys!
Ha ha, me too!!
Smart, gotta make use of those coupons and offers. If you are eating more healthily by not visiting too then that's a bonus!
It was garbage that's for sure, although other items may have been better of course!
Nice review greeno....the square Patty thing I believe is when they first opened in the states they had a slogan "Wendy's where corners are never cut" ....don't get the sound buns though!!
I like the slogan, it's a good one. Not true based on my experience mind 🤣
Just been to that very branch, they were out of lettuce and the larger patties you had, only had the junior burgers. I have to say they are usually pretty decent if you stick to their core products, burger, chips the baked potatos are good too.
That's pretty poor to run out of staple ingredients for their stuff. Maybe they'd just run out of avocado the day I went 😂
I did feel like going on a rampage Michael Douglas style after this experience!!
Hi Greeno, just discovered your channel have subscribed, enjoying watching all your videos.
Why thank you, that's most kind of you to say so!
its not the same after dave left the company. Corporate greed has absolutely wrecked it, what you guys need is an in-n-out. By the way the square patties was daves idea, he wanted your first bite to be a salty beefy one and the patties were thinner, had way more maillard, and protruded much farther out.
Interesting, once the hedge fund guys take over then standards always drop as they try to squeeze every penny for the shareholders
