Major tourist drawcards such as Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church and Casa Manila are popular spots among local and foreign visitors.
In 2023, about 5.45 million international tourists arrived in the Philippines, reflecting a significant increase from the previous year's total. The number of international tourists arriving to the country plummeted between 2019 and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and has only started showing signs of recovery in the previous two years.
The Walled City of Intramuros is one of the top tourist spots in Manila. In 2020, the historic walled city of Intramuros has emerged as Asia's leading tourist attraction in the 2020 World Travel Awards, besting such world-class landmarks as India’s Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
This is the second time the Philippine destination won the title after getting the award in 2016. Last year, Intramuros was nominated again for the 'World's Leading Tourist Attraction' award.
Last year, Manila was named the “World’s Leading City Destination” for the first time ever at the World Travel Awards 2023.

Yong mga katipunero/guard na dapat ang sumisita dyan sa mga batang namamalimos kc nakakahiya ang kukulit pa naman. Kulang din sa bench walang ma upuan lalo na mga senior tourist. More flowers/plants and trees para hindi mainit.

Ang ganda! very spanish motiff kapag naka red bricks ang mga roads dyan sa Intramuros which is bagay na bagay sa lugar, sana OL nang kalsada sa paligid nang Intramuros wall palitan at gawing spanish red bricks, ok din ang uniforme nang mga guardia sibil.
Kalesa is more suitable and appropriate form of transportation in Intramuros area, due to the style of old Spanish colonial buildings around. Just like going back in time.

Dahil iyan sa political will ni President BBM. Pinapaganda na mga pasyalan sa Pilipinas at nagpapagawa pa ng maraming mga pasyalan at tourist spots sa Pilipinas ang Gobyerno. At ang pakikipagkaibigan ni President BBM sa iba't ibang lahi sa pagpunta nya sa iba't ibang bansa. a long time back hardly anyone spoke of intramuros or fort santiago and the old mansions surrounding this fortification were allowed to decay and inhabited by squatters..mrs imelda marcos tried to revive this place by beautifying it and reviving the old mansions thru beautification projects..now others have picked it up and the result is this old treasure that we inherited from the past..it also tells me that a country that disregards its past will not be able to move forward,,we are the only catholic culture in asia so market our culture and tourism to our neighboring countries

I didn’t expect to see more pedestrian roads this quick. I hope it’s maintained because no matter what it’s a simple way to make this place better. I hope it doesn’t affect traffic but I’m assuming the area isn’t that busy with vehicle traffic anyway. For me they should extend the plaza in front of the Manila cathedral and they need to invest in quality restaurants for middle class and tourists. For my opinion , intramuros can be the place for all kinds of life to go.
I wish they can make it like it used to be but it’s too late, but to make this area as lively is possible is best respect for this place.
