I only went to two Thanksgiving Day gatherings when I was a little boy living in Denver in the late 70s / early 80s. We were invited to neighbours' homes and I had the best time.
The thing about children and baths (I think anyway!) is that their skin is sensitive and they don't much care for the feel of the water. Bubbles help a lot, of course ("Matey" bubble bath, a brand I remember from long ago, I think was aimed at children to make bath time more fun). One thing my parents did - and I did the same thing with my own children - was to make sure we regularly visited the local swimming pool. We had lessons at primary school on Thursday mornings which was the highlight of my week, but my brother and I also went every weekend ourselves, often twice, for a "free swim". Dad dropped us off and we looked after ourselves once we were old enough. That became a very happy part of our childhood.
My kids' schools did not offer swimming lessons (cutbacks!), so I booked lessons with the local pool instead. Apart from them eventually being able to swim well, which builds confidence and strength, they also got used to water generally, and looked forward to the post-swim shower time. Good habits!

I like the idea of the new thoughts of Thanksgiving being more about being with family and friends. More than "Pilgrims and Native Americans dinner" given the later history.

Congrats on your national holiday of eating turkey with marshmallow and making pies out of spiced vegetables 😂. In Canada, the same festival of over indulgence is held on 2nd Monday of October. Traditionally, in England & Wales the Harvest Thanksgiving festival is held on the Sunday closest to the Harvest Moon, so this year on 1st October. The once-a-year old hymns are dusted off, such as "We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land", and "Come, ye thankful people, come. Raise the song of harvest in." Your children should offer thanks for such loving parents, as we thank you for your entertaining and inspirational videos. 👨🌾👩🌾🍁

PS: just a tiny bit of trivia....traditionally, regardless of where one lived in England, one always travelled UP to London, never down. This dates back to one going up to court (the Royal Court at St James). This was hammered in to we boys at junior school.
So the pilgrim fathers come from Derbyshire Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Are they the thanks giving lot.

Nice footage but not important in the UK, we don't really recognise it. A US import like baby showers, trick or treat, shopping malls, MacDonalds that I would prefer not to have in the UK and retain my National Identity.
