There’s a plot hole. Sonic somehow knows Maria’s name even though no one mentioned Maria’s name in front of sonic in the film. Sonic says “Maria might be gone”. All they had to do to fix the plot hole was have shadow say to sonic “the last time I saw the stars I was with Maria” instead of saying “with her”
Even with no biolizard the final fight was still amazing and felt like i was watching a dragon ball movie. Eggaman's final scene with agent stone so unexpected and. And the post credit SCENES were incredible. 69/10

In the field scene, at least from what I remember, Sonic looks up at the explosion and says something like "You always have a choice", which is what he says to Shadow earlier in the film. Besides, I don't know how Sonic would have known Shadow was dead considering he was unconscious while he was falling.

the movie really could've benefited so much from a 2 hour run time, also does this movie feel VERY oddly small scale to anyone else? it has bigger stakes than movie 2 but yet....movie 2 had a ton more going on and it had tons more characters too. I still think 3 is the better one but movie 2 definitely did a lot of things better. if someone thinks movie 2 is better than 3 I honestly wouldn't blame them, the action was better in 2 as well.
imo it felt small scale because gerald never really acted as if he's about to destroy the world in the last part of the film. there was still really goofy stuff between eggman and him at the end which really detracted from any possible tension and stakes. if he locked in in the last 1/3 then it would have felt higher scale
I wish they used the actual live and learn instead of the remix. The real live and learn has a stronger beat. Also I wish the real live and learn kept playing while sonic and shadow were fighting the robots in space. That would have been more epic than an orchestral version in my opinion. BUT I’m really glad they put live and learn in the film. Great film
My one gripe. They replayed this.., orchestral- LOOP of L&L. Thanks, but not as effective as just playing the song once during a couple scenes. They played the loop like 3 different times, and it felt more like a meme..
Negatives, I do wish the movie was longer so that Shadow’s backstory, Rockwell, emeralds, and Super Sonic vs Super Shadow was better executed. And Gerald, I don’t mind his goofiness but the 3rd climax, I wish he was more serious. It was annoying that they cut Super Sonic vs Shadow fight for Eggman vs Gerald but having it be more Jim goofiness is just tiresome imo. I get Gerald had to be the final boss but I wish he had a better conclusion in terms of showing more of him getting along with Maria, connect more with Shadow, and better ending for him. Maria, only thing I wish they kept was her illness n promise to Shadow to save earth so Shadow’s bond with her hits harder but even then, ya I still love how they told her story. Instead of being treated as a goddess like the games, she just treated as a kid n having fun with Shadow which made their moment all the more tragic. Easily my favorite interpretation of Maria’s story imo Other than that, positives. I enjoy Sonic, Tails, and Knuxs moments together. Eggman’s arc was peak n hope they don’t bring him back in Movie 4 cuz if they did, it’s gonna be another Shadow n Sage moment where their sacrifice means nothing. Humans were whatever while Rockwell, kinda wish she had more screentime cuz her conclusion felt wasted n unfinished imo. That Super Sonic vs Shadow could have been longer (Wish the Jim Carey battle was shorter) but still it was immaculate. The Sonic X, DBZ, and Man of Steel moments was insanely and I enjoyed the fuck out of all. And then Sonic n Shadow team up after their talk on the moon was beautiful and I need that phone wallpaper of Super Sonic n Shadow pose😭🙏🏾. And bringing in Sonic music is just immaculate 🔥🙌🏾 Post credits, overhyped as hell but I like how they played a reserve CD intro. Metal capture Amy n Sonic had to save her. Now Movie 3, Amy is the one to save Sonic from Metal. And their designs, it’s ok but I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed for Movie 4 like Tails n Shadow. Amy, I hope Jeff talks more of Adventure Amy personality instead of Movie Peach. I don’t mind her being a fighter, but I hope she has flaws n allow to express her emotions instead of just girl boss like Movie Peach. And second post credits, predictable but what would have been hype is if Rouge at least made that appearance. Imagine we see Shadow unconscious and then a ring portal pop ups and we see Rouge. Rouge sees Shadow n drags him to her home n movie ends. That or Black Doom too. Either way that would have been hype imo. Overall, Paramount cooked and my favorite out of all the Sonic media released this year. If I wasn’t a Shadow fan, I would give the film either a 6 or 7 but as a Shadow weeb, 11 out of 10😁🙏🏾🔥. The robotniks was 50/50 for me, the nerdy scene when they first meet could’ve been cut down, the dancing scene was just a stupid asf, and don’t get me started on the praying mantis vs scorpion scene, so restarted. W villains W fun was ass. Gerald’s best scene was probably his sexist joke which would way more in tune with a character who is 110 years old, born in 1914. The Rachel scene pissed me off. Getting ultra nasty??? Are you serious??? Not even the kids laughed at that. Someone seriously watched that in post editing and said “yes this is fire”?? They could’ve easily added another 10-20 mins into the film to make the scene of breaking into GUN a less of an asspull, and expand the moon scene a little more. Stone was an unexpected favorite character from this movie. Otherwise, besides the pacing, the movie was perfect. I felt like Jeff Fowler was talking to the fans with the Maria death scene with him saying “stop, they’re kids!” Kinda poking at the fandom for wanting to see a 12 year old get shot like some sickos 😂😂
Regardless of my race, that Rachel scene is ass. Writers used nonsense to earn the human characters access into a government base. But Tom needs to be there so he can meet Shadow, so other scenes happen.
I’m SO glad there weren’t any snapcube references in the film (as far as I know). I was expecting the milked-to-death “I’ve come to make an announcement” and peeing on the moon jokes. Paramount, thank you SO MUCH for not doing that!👏👏👏👏👏

Movie 3 was Movie 2 with trimmed fat and higher highs. Far and away the best of the trilogy and an AMAZING movie on it's own merits.

Nah, I can tell yuh, 2hrs is plenty for an action film. It ended when I was getting ready to wanna stretch the legs and move onto something else.
