Hard to believe 6 months has gone past. A very honest video on being in a new build which is so appreciated. We have moved a lot and owned several homes (in different countries) but my all time favorite was the only new build we bought (in our home country of Scotland) Thankfully my memory has erased any “snag” issues that may have arisen (it was 30+ years ago). One of reasons I loved it was because like your new home, there was nothing behind us but fields and beyond, the hills. And Ade is right - with each move I disposed of even more “stuff” when I was unpacking boxes. Your joy in your new space does come through.
My wife and I are in the same situation. 6 months in our home (not new build). Between work (we both work from home as well) and maintaining a household we're still settling in. We actually planted perennials last week and bought some tomato and pepper plants for a small container garden. Trying our best to do one project at a time. We love our home, surrounded by nature so your vlog is relatable.
Loved the vlog you always get teething problems, but there is always positive things too the house is lovely and all that light now. love to you both xxx
I moved into my new build last July so am experiencing the same problems as you in relation to hanging things on walls. My partner was very good at diy but he passed away in the summer of 2002 so I have to tackle stuff myself or pay someone to do it. I have found a very good local handyman/electrician who has hung pictures and fixed ceiling lights etc. He has hung heavy things on outside walls but advises me to try to find lighter alternatives for other walls, which I am doing. It may be that you have to give consideration to purchasing lighter mirrors if they are to go on interior walls. Perhaps the heavier ones could stand on top of chests of drawers etc? Fortunately his rates are reasonable - unlike the price I had to pay for having my patio extended a little!
I have been very busy in the garden planting trees, shrubs, bulbs and flowers. I am in the process of potting up containers. Luckily my garden had some shrubs and a pergola as it was a viewhome, so I had a bit of a start. I use the garden as an extra room and I am out there a lot, but I am retired so have the time.
If you can bear to ring the manufacturer about your fridge/freezer I'm sure they won't take long to have a look at it under warranty. You shouldn't need to go through customer services of the builder. A neighbour was having problems with her appliance and it was replaced without any quibbling.
Very useful information about moving, thank you we are about to embark on making a huge move to be nearer our daughter and family, after 30 years in the same house quite scary . Would love to see a vlog on all your advice.
I love how happier you both are in your new home and area. I enjoy watching your vlogs. You are a refreshing couple, so kind to each other and a joy to watch. I'm the lady that spoke to you about imber on Instagram by the way. Have a lovely week 😊xx
Definitely invest in special rawl plugs for plasterboard, the ones I’ve used in previous new builds expanded once they’re in the wall. They held up all my mirrors no problem 🙂
I dont feel like you were complaining you were just being honest about the challenges. Taking care of home issues is always a burden anytime. Who ever has multiple hours during the day to wait on hold making phone calls?!
You both sound so happy and glad to have made the move and that is what counts despite the challenges!
I am excited for your garden plans. After spending time in our delightful Airbnb in Cambridge with the amazing cottage garden I want to change my back yard into a little oasis! Just need the time to do it.
Its been so hard to get back in a cooking schedule after being on vacation. We had so many wonderful meals while we were in London and Cambridge, I am not very thrilled about cooking right now! But when I do I defintely plan loosely for the week. I work often until 6/6:30 pm so I am sometimes too tired to cook but I always have staples and keep things simple and easy during the week with planning ahead. On the weekends I am more adventures and also "treat" ourselves to meals that take a bit longer to prepare. I really do love cooking on the weekends.
Alwaus enjoy seeing what you two are up to! ❤
Me and my husband loved fallout!
Our meals are very mixed having 3 under 7 we have a menu plan but its not set to each week and sometimes we just fancy beans on toast when its 8 at the kids are in bed lol. We eat with them at the weekend but in the week they normally have sandwiches or picky food as they have been fed at school (hot meal). Loving the vlog 😊
Would love to see a video on tips for moving! Planning to move next year & first time buyer. I'm very nervous about it 😬 don't know what to expect at all! (Fairly new-ish to your channel & really enjoy watching these videos while i'm pottering about or crafting 😊 so thank you!)
