Glad this game is continuing to get support. I've had it since release, but feel as though it needs more development and content still. More 'cook time', as it were. So I am very happy to see some genuine evolution in the game. Now - give us DLC that actually contains a new race and more than a handful of units.
That's how every age of wonders game has felt. I've been watching this game with interest for quite a while, but didn't buy it until now. The patch and sale make it finally worth it.
Next dlc is confirmed to have a new race and a new world event mechanic. Along with other things. Look up the road map for dlc. The next one comes out spring. The third one is scheduled for fall. Just really hope the new race is more alien like the kirko.
Yeah same. Base game as good design but lacks too much to keep me . And since they 'll release a bunch of overpriced small dlc, I 'll just wait a few years for a bundle sale. So I might play it again in 2-3 years, when the game is polished and at a reasonnabke price for the whole thing.
This game needs a lot more cover on TH-cam and such. Devs are really listening and the game becomes more and more fun/balanced/everything by the time but I didn't see much coverage of it before the last update.
As fun As the game seem I m not ready to pour more money in it. Base game was disappointing. Little content, small replayability, imbalanced. Expension are overpriced. I don't intend to spend more in it. I miss aow 3. at least they will learn from the failures of planetfall to make a good aow 4, I hope.

@@ImperatorofNonsense You should try Age of Wonders III if you like homm :) It often goes on very low sale too. It does some things better and some things worse than homm I would say, but more better for me personally.
I decided to pick this up after this video. Is there any chance you'd cover this game some more? It would be great to have a better understanding of the game given all the new interesting systems.
My 2 cents to the 'no colonizer' mode: Personally, I love the design and appeal of the Age Of Wonder games, so far I've only played III. despite being in the right age bracket, I never played the early ones. But the biggest drawback for me has always been the somewhat... lackluster... civilization management. The combat is deep and great, the empire building part could never shake off the feeling of being rather an accessory than a real core part of the game. The 'no colonizer' mode only worsens this. I'd prefere more complex empire building mechanics.
Planetfall has a much deeper city management system then the previous games but you really have to pay attention to what territories you annexed & what monuments are in them to see the benefits. Nothing city wise will make you lose though which is typically a turn off for new players
I played both modes intensively and i think that you are making it too much of a big deal with the "more complex building mechanic..." every in depth mechanic still there since you still need to annex and chose wisely, colonizer(or not) would be rather a "game style preference" than something else.
Ah the prerelease bug. Colonist cryopods was broken on the build you got the building but not the colonists. It happened to Tombles on the dev stream too. My favorite syndicate is celestian you have the psy channel to buff the star guides and noble diplomat fits so well with celestian boosts to npc diplo. They even boosted the docrtine that makes quests faster to delay demands which makes it much nicer. The Syndicate operation strength skill also allows you to hit that soulburn very reliably which makes celestian quite potent.
This seems a lot like Civ VI, but with some different mechanics like quests and leader development. Also has a lot of Fantasy Generals II like hero progression and unit control. Seems interesting! Is there a mod for having your units look like Cybermen?

I think the next expansion is coming out in the next 2 to 3 months

Got ps4 version of it for my 30th birthday last week. I really like it. I'm fan of heroes of might and magic and this game feels like homm in sci-fi.

In short: It's the Sci-Fi Version of Age of Wonders III. You build cities/bases to controll Sector with rescources.

Voidtech is more of a kinetic oriented secret tech
It works well with everything, maybe a bit more melee synergy than other secret techs
More please. And maybe do some other races with colonization on to show some newbies how to play the game please.
Don't rush your ranged units into the enemy out of cover and don't try to flank with a foot melee unit.
