Aw... I miss the caps jokes already. But in all seriousness I'm real happy for Ovi and just the caps in general. And the picture with Backstrom lifting the cup with Ovi right beside him will be in not only Capitals, but NHL lore forever.
Max Brown His haters will probably be like “He could only win the Cup against an expansion team. If he plays a real NHL team, he would lose.” Honestly though, a win is a win and Ovi deserved this Cup badly.

It was a fucking amazing season, playoffs, series, and game. I always get a little emotional when that cup is hoisted. It was great seeing Ovi win it this year.
Finally!! Its been a long time comin.
I've been a fan of the Knights ever since they were announced as an expansion team, and as much as I hate to see them lose when they were one step away from making more history...history would've been made regardless. It took Ovi so long to get that cup for the Caps, and it's amazing to know that not only did he win it, but everyone is celebrating it worldwide. I'm not the biggest Caps fan, but I'll give props to the team for finally getting Ovi the thing he rightfully fought for and deserved. Congrats Capitals. We'll hopefully see you in the next playoff season.

Ovechkin is the best pure goal scorer in NHL history - If he plays until he's 40 years old he will break Gretzky's all-time goal scoring record i have no doubt.

Ikr I agree with everything u said there I have been with the caps ever since with all the leafs fans and other people doubting the caps calling them second round chokers and I knew one day enough was enough so when I saw we finally beat Pittsburgh I knew this was our year and my heart melted when ovi lifted that cup that he deserved!

the word everyone is looking for to describe this Caps team: perseverance. they won each series on the road and did have series deficits at some point.
Johnny, i have respect for your Leafs and Marlies. the Leafs have a great young core. their time to shine will be now and not later. the Marlies---in another Calder Finals this year---keeps developing that young talent each year, which has been one of the top teams in all of the AHL in recent years.
i wouldn't be surprised to see this young bunch of players end Toronto's drought. Babcock will work his magic to bring a championship to Toronto. mark my words.
T.J. Oshie is a Stanley Cup Champion. I've been fan of him since a little child. When he hoisted the cup for his first time, it put a tear in my eye.
At first I was bitter for my team always losing the big series’. But I’ve healed up since and I’m actually happy for Ovi. He’s actually a star player that carried himself in a mature way. I can respect that.
As a penguins fan I couldn't be more happy for ovechkin. Almost felt like a Washington fan when they won. He really deserves it. And to see him as backstrom lift it together was awesome. Two guys who have been with that team for over a decade a piece and they finally got it done. But now it's time to shift focus for next year and see a penguins bounce back potentially. I also seen Washington isn't even in the top odds for next season Stanley cup. Interesting aye lol.

On paper, Washington was a better team last year. This year, they didn't have Williams, Johansson, or Shattenkirk but they played a better team game. Kuznetsov, Eller, and Smith-Pelley really elevated themselves and Ovi himself scored or set-up so many important goals in this playoffs that he deserves the Conn Smythe. His legacy is secured and the Capitals have finally overcome their demons and won the coveted Cup.
It was a total team effort. Now that I think about it vegas were carried by fluery through these playoffs and while players like Marchy and Karlsson as well as Schmidt were essential to their successes without fluery they would not have made it so far. For the capitals obviously the big 5 ovi backy kuzy Carlson and Holtby played phenomenally. However Oshie was on fire, Eller and Wilson killed it. Then the depth guys stood up like Vrana and Bukovsky and connoly did not do half bad. Beagle was a defensive monster Stephenson played well. But too me the real stars were on the blue line. Orpik played amazing physical blocking shots and scored the gwg in game 2. Kempny looked like a top 4 blueliner. Orlov and Niskanen looked like a top 2 pairing and Christian djoos did not look too bad for a rookie. You could not name one player on that 20 man roster that played bad that was the key

Tampa has lost to the eventual Cup winner 4 of the last 5 playoffs. The had a 3-2 series lead in each ECF the last two times, against PIT and WSH. They had a 2-1 series lead in the SC in 2015. And they lost 0-1 in Game 7 against the Bruins in 2011. Fuck.
