If this movie wasn't so underrated, it really would set the bar for any film adaptation of any videogame. It truly is the first great videogame movie ever made.
I believe the dubbed version of this movie can actually be found on TH-cam as long as it hasn’t been taken down. That was where I last watched it, and if it’s still around, I think I’m going to watch it again.
Man, I feel like rewatcing this movie. It was the reason why I got into the games, and even then, I loved this movie without prior knowledge of the series.
This movie is honestly so good, but so overlooked, much like you already said. And i also wanted to say that honestly, your video was also really good? Like i mainly noticed in the scriptwriting that you didn't just want to talk about a movie you saw, but you wanted to tell the story of it, which are two pretty different things, even if they don't seem like it. I really like how you also keep the suspense of the movie as it goes on, telling us about it, but without spoiling it too soon. This is the first video of yours I've seen, so I really only have this one for a frame of reference, but you're really good at this and I can tell you put a lot of effort into it, which makes me really happy to have watched this video^^ As i was watching, it really did feel like i was experiencing the movie all over again, but in a different way I also love how you did the Grosky bits XDDD they were hilarious and you really kept the spirit of the movie in those moments^^ and also the "oh btw, Luke can talk to animals, no biggie", which just reminded me SO MUCH of the last specter and how it was handled there, which is to say BARELY, BUT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BIGGER PLOT POINT, OR AT LEAST SHOULD HAVE ELICITED SOME KIND OF REACTION FROM LAYTON AND EMMY, I MEAN COME ON-
I first watched this movie about a year or 2 ago in japanese and it had such an impact on me that i watched the english version immediately after 🫡 Just like every Layton game, this movie brought me to tears and I cant say enough, how I wish it was an actual game. I adore the story and the characters. Everything feels so genuine and the music is just as fantastic as always. This series changed me as a person and im eternally thankful for this ❤️❤️
Luke's voice was recast because not one British person would have been convinced by Lani's voicework for him. It's far too "oi guvnah wots awl this". I heard in another video that the combination of doing both a boy's voice and an English accent was one factor too many. It was 100% a wise decision, when I heard his American voiceover I thought it was awful.
I've always loved this movie for how well it fits in the Layton saga. Usually movies try new things, like a new style, or 3d things, but this one just feels like a 1h30 long cutscene, and i dont want to skip it. The attention to every detail is priceless, the number of cameos that have the right to be here (like pandora's box in schrader's office, or returning cast(we can see Angela and Beluga from PB in the opera)). This is just a big love letter to anything layton, and i so WISH i had a physical copy !
I can only agree to this 100% tbh I love this movie so much, I exedentily bought the DVD twice X"D And I must say the bits of the english version I've seen are great, I also must speak out kuddos to the German dub

It's still available.
Just saw the complete german dub of the movie on TH-cam a few days ago, so it's still good

An absolutely excellent review! Eternal Diva really is one of the greatest video game movies out there.
