    POWER SUPPLY NOTES
    Regarding the power supply listed above:
    ▶ I highly recommend the Mean Well series of power supplies, which I've now used for years without a problem.
    ▶ One spool of the LEDs listed above draws 2 amps DC, so if you're using a full spool, you want a power supply listed above that. I listed a 3-amp supply above.
    ▶ For other models, search for Mean Well APV. This series goes up to 3 amps. For higher amperage, or for outdoor use, search for the LPV series.
    ▶ These are meant to be general recommendations and not expert advice. Good luck!

    It's like Christmas morning when I see a notification of a new post from you! Here or on Instagram... I run down the theoretical TH-cam stairs in my imaginary bunny jammies, smash the play button and sit cross-legged in front of the crackling screen (should probably get a new one) lost in imagination.

    For Texas heat, I recommend a kilt. Really. Just be very careful of camera angles.

      d j wear gym shorts...light weight and you don’t have to worry about camera angles. Plus you can retain your pride if you have to go out in public. Haha

      Good kilt is extremely tolerant in matter of oopses with minimum practice. But acrilic ones is pretty warm.

    Isn’t it amazing how much smaller a sign looks after you get it mounted especially those 20 ft high or so ….I’ve told customers that and then they were extremely surprised when the sign went up how much smaller it looked.

    I lived in TX in the early 2010s, and swear this is the exact same setup as a place in the Dallas area. I assume they opened a second location? If so, glad to hear they’re doing well, and your work is excellent!

    What is it with Americans and cheese and steaks? Such a travesty! I was in Washington DC and I had a pizza which I swear was 95% cheese. It was like, would you like extra cheese with that pizza sir? However, good work on the illuminated sign Wesley. Love watching you builds.

      Oh, right, the Toilet Seat Art Museum! Yeah, Barney Smith was a buddy of mine. I brought him some materials for a seat once, and the next time I visited, he had me sign the seat he made with them. It's by the entrance.
      He was trying for years to find someone who would buy and display the seats properly. He passed away just a few days after attending the opening.

      @@WesleyTreat I just dug through "Weird Texas" and found your mention of Mr. Smith on pages 122-23 and at that time the count was just over 700. He really picked-up the pace after that because they said that there were over 1400 on display.

    Great video as always. At 6:55 you used some caulk. Is that just to help hold the strips in place?

    why did you use 4 drivers for the LED strips?

      Each supply powers every other strip for half the sign. If one fails, half the sign dims instead of going out completely. Each quadrant is a little under 4 amps, so I used 5 amp supplies.

    Great work! What determines using 6 LED strips for this particular project? It there some lumen per square inch calculation used, or a lot of trial and error, or just plain old experience, or... something else?

      For something indoors like this, 4-5 inches apart and about 4-5 inches away from the face is usually a good starting point for these strips, but I usually test it first.

    Hey Wesley, what kind of earbuds are you using? Are they for protection as well, or just music?
    If they also do hearing protection, I'd be really interested in your opinion of them, compared to both normal earbuds, and normal hearing protection muffs.

      They're just some cheapies I got off Amazon for listening to podcasts. I don't think they even sell them anymore. They cut out some noise, but when I need real protection, I use earplugs.

    You have made some amazing items, but for some odd reason this one "feels" like your best one. At least for me it is my favorite so far. Not sure why exactly. I think it was the quick, efficient production and also the perfect functionality. I would be interested in knowing the actual production time. It "felt" like it was "quick-ish" but I know how misleading that can be in these videos.
