  • Cassis / Walking tour around Calanque de Port Miou and Calanque de Port Pin.
On my one-day trip to Cassis, I firstly walked around the village of Cassis, its port, the quai and the promenade. And after the lunch, at about 14 o'clock I wend for a walk along the Calanque de Port Miou and further to the Calanque de Port Pin, and returned to Cassis between 17 und 18 o'clock in the afternoon.

I know this town well - visited the place perhaps a dozen times in the late 80s and through the 90s, the best town on the whole of the southern French coast. To the east of the town, Cap Canaille, the highest sea cliff in Europe..astonishing how it changes as the sun moves throughout the day...and to the west the Calanques. Visiting Calanque de Miou for its naturist area. So beautiful, and wonderful to see your film.

Thank you, Roy! I was in Marseille just this one time and had only one day to visit Cassis, but realised immediately that this region around Cassis should have much more beautifull places. Have not been at Cap Canaille. Thank you for this tip: a place to visit for the next time.

@@EVG-art-travel-vlog Many thanks. If you find yourself in Cassis again, one of the best sights is simply observing the way the light changes on Cap Canaille, as seen from Cassis. Early in the morning it's a blue haze. As the sun moves around, textures on the cliff start to appear, becoming more and more intricate and detailed in the richly-coloured red/brown rock. And the cliff looks massive. One of those sights that you can look at for hours. It's a glorious abstraction. All the best, and take care.
