Payload remains about the same at 280 lbs as the floats support their own weight in flight. So no, you don't need to go on a diet (or if you have to ask then maybe.... :) )
I believe the Rotax 582 has a 300 hour TBA. It does have a gear box and is 65hp which is plenty for this aircraft. I just tested the HKS 60hp 4-stroke engine and it is also perfect.
