I love all those guys, especially sturgill, but Chris would whoop everybody else's ass in this.
Love Chris along with the rest, and Chris might have the best voice of those mentioned, but he couldn't touch Childers, Simpson, or Yoakam in songwriting. Just my .02@@MrRobCharles
I’m from Texas and Texas redirt will always be my #1 go to, but Tyler Childers is always circulating through my playlists no matter what, he kicks ass.

The thing i like about Texas country artists and a lot of other country artists is that they are down to earth. Most Texas country artists as soon as they are off stage for the night they come down to drink and hangout with the fans especially hear in the San Antonio area where a lot of these guys live like Randy Rogers, Kevin Fowler, and a lot others. You don't find respect for fans like that much anymore with most other music artists these days.
You couldn’t be more right. I live here in San Marcos and played fiddle for a few around here, Duke Ryan, Ian Tonroy, Austin James and have gotten the chance to put down a few whiskeys with rogers and Fowler. It’s always so much fun when everyone takes a break, does a lap around the bar and has conversations with the actual patrons that come in. Texas singers are just different in the best way.

I haven't found anyone close to how authentic LiV is. Most everyone else just nods and smiles while listening without saying any thoughts on it.

a big complaint about country music from people that don't usually listen to it( hip-hop and metal as well) is that all the songs sound the same...one great thing I think about this new setup with hearing the songs back to back is you could clearly tell the difference in styles, feeling, nuances, just general sound of each band. As a non country fan I felt like I could appreciate it even more and could see this helping to understand whatever genre even more. Looking forward to Pt 2
Good point. I think another part of it is people who don't usually listen to country have only listened to the nashville pop they push on "country" radio. It does all sound the same and 99% of it is just garbage. So those people really just haven't actually ever listened to country music and just don't know any better.
Sounds like the Rap on the radio these days. It all sounds the same and is lyrically trash. Radio just sucks to me these days. You have to stay away from radio to hear good music. They won't play it. I think their agenda is clear. Keep people away from any kind of thinking.
Thankfully there is always talent out there.

The Randy Rogers Band has stuff where they go off to I'm telling you from front to back they have some of the best musicians you've ever seen Brady black the fiddle player is downright amazing

So glad y'all are venturing back into Texas Country and Red Dirt. I love both of these songs, but I think head to head Cody Johnson takes it. If you had songs with similar subject matter it would be tougher to call.

A couple things. Ill never forget the first time I saw RRB in concert. In my arms and Kiss me in the dark moved everyone there to their souls. Amazing songs. Kiss me in the dark should be the next song if yall pick them ( I think yall should )
I feel like yall missed out on two awesome artists/bands. Ryan Bingham (south side of heaven - look for the version at white water and Josh abbot band - she's like Texas... or frankly anything by them. )

Great battle to start this thing off. Cody and Randy are probably 2 of the most prominent figures in the Texas country scene although they differ quite a bit. I maybe would have gone with Satelitte from RRB but this is definitely one of their tops tracks. CoJo has been killing it for the last few years but he has been in the game for a little while. All of his albums leading up to his newest have been all self produced and released and he's done a fantastic job with his story telling and trying to stick to a traditional country sound. RRB have bee GRINDING for almost two decades and have built up one of the most loyal fan bases there is. They are to Texas country what George Strait was to traditional country nationally for so many years. They have such a complete band and it really shows with their work. Can't wait to hear more from you guys. Keep up the great work. Stay hard and keep jammin.

This is the best thing ever! Randy Rogers Band is the soundtrack to our Texas lives. "In My Arms Instead," is IMO, the most beautifully written and composed song there is... Brady's fiddle is incredible.

I don’t have a dog in the hunt because I’ve never heard either of these artists. Speaking subjectively, the first one caught my attention more. The lyrics painted a better picture and the music was more complex in a way that made the musician in me sit at attention.
