The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of my favorite detective stories ever.

Perfect list! So seldom have I read every book on someone else’s list of anything!

love love love the tenant of wildfell hall. one of the most exciting classics (especially of the pre-20th century ones) that ive read. it was the first thing to come to mind when you described the video topic so im glad you covered it!

Mary Elizabeth Braddon is an absulute gem. All her novels are great and I love that there is not always a cliché happy ending. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

I really enjoyed her storytelling in Lady Audley's Secret, will definitely check out more of her work.

Lady Audley's Secret was the first to come to mind when you started talking. I just read it in October and had a blast. I would recommend it as a place to start for people interested in getting into Victorian literature.

It's a really fun and accessible one for readers new to 19th century literarure.

Really great video! I've only read two: Rebecca, which I LOVED, and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which I thought was only okay, because I do not enjoy the literary maneuver the twist relies on. Not saying more because of spoilers, obviously.

So good, and such great reconmendations. At first I "only" wanted to write this first sentence and add how good yor presentation and moderation is. But then, to the end of the video, your hair started to slide and flow to the front. Snd now I have to add how beautiful your hair is. Such a long, glorious mane! Please keep on making such great recensations, and please keep your pride in your long hair, it is so beautiful!

Fantastic video. I've read all of the recommendations except I Am Legend. I will definitely read it soon! I'm currently 2/3 into Wyndham's book The Midwich Cuckoos and loving it. He's a super story teller.

I had forgotten I wanted to read Wyndham! Back on my list. I love I am Legend. I read it and then I read The Road and the graphic novel Sweet Tooth. I was on a post apocalyptic mood XD.

Haha, I get those moods too where I read one apocalypse book after another.

I really enjoyed The Pursuit of Love, I'm most certainly going to check out her other work as well in the future. (Also I personally definite a classic as any book written pre 1960)

Fabulous suggestions ❤ Especially dazzled by the Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Sherlock Holmes suggestions. Claudia have you enjoyed any of the Enola Holmes novels? I will check out more on this list for myself. I’ve never read anything from the 50’s and I know you have some well loved novels from this timeframe. I still need to check out a few from your other videos like I own the castle (I may remember that wrong) lol I need my notebook and to rewatch some of your videos which is only extra indulgence for me!

I've watched the Netflix adaptations of Enola Holmes but haven't read the books, though I feel like I'd quite enjoy them! Ah yes the 50s produced many favourites of mine, in particular some good dystopia, which makes sense in context.
