Re: Dias and defenders in general; 100 points is still fairly rarified air for a defender. Only 23 hit it last season (27 if you go to 90+). In 22/23 it was 22 defenders (34 above 90). So don't expect 100 point defenders to be growing on trees. I agree roughly with your ranking for Ruben (I'd maybe bump him to DEF10-12). But his value imo is less about points total, and more about him having a consistent threat of returning points (via sheets in his case). Any defender starting 25-30 for Man City basically has 25-30 realistic chances of giving you a sheet (as in, you'd gamble on Man City keeping a sheet versus most teams prior to kick off). Whereas the same style of defender playing for, for example, West Ham, isn't going to be someone you'd bet on as often. The latter you're more likely to be chopping and changing in waivers based upon fixture quality. Defenders definitely down the priority lists though ✊
You’re right but 100pts is an optimistic prediction for this season, he did only get 88. I’m not saying that doesn’t hold value, but on draft day going around pick 50 is just far too high for me. If you just cycled through defenders on the waivers each week you’d be able to easily get 88pts+ from that position. Being able to grab a midfielder that could get 120+ should be more of a priority at that point in the draft. All just my opinion of course, really like the comments having moved the pod to TH-cam so please do keep commenting and challenging stuff you don’t agree with!
@@DraftFC I definitely wouldn't be taking him ahead of a strong midfielder or forward, there we totally agree. In my 8man P50 would be R7, so if I felt like I'd nailed 6 fwd/mid picks by then - maybe I'd look at him there, but it's unlikely. I think we're largely agreeing, it was just the 100pt thing that hit my ear wrong. Those guys are really solid value over a season, they're just not the kind of value you ignore a Hee Chan/Kulusevski/Neto for.
I’m sorry but I don’t see how this is helpful… you picked a bunch of CBs, a new forward, and a player that has been irrelevant for two years. I’m not trying to be a jerk, I just feel that anyone could say yeah these players won’t benefit in fantasy
Don’t need to be sorry mate, all opinions valid here. The point is our data shows managers are still taking those players very high on draft day and to spend your draft picks elsewhere. It’s a pick/value discussion, nothing else 👍🏻
Amazes me that people have watched the previous 2 years of PL and still value Mason Mount at all, let alone that high! Craziness
People like the names they’re familiar with!
Another great video, well done man 👏🏻
Appreciate it!

Would you rate DCL/C. Willson higher than Zirkzee?
No probably not, but none of them are particularly high on my board
Calafiori was my first defender taken albeit in the 5th round. I probably overreached for him but I wanted Arsenal players and most had gone
I think the urge to get an Arsenal defender is strong this year, if Calafiori ends up playing most of the season, 5th round may not be too high!
