      Job Quijada Pat wants to know where in Sonora you’re from and why you like this style of roping. He has a great respect for the vaqueros of Mexico who, after all, are why we have this style of roping.

      @@PatnDebPuckett Mrs. Deb. I'm from a town called Cumpas sonora tell Mr. Pat. It is two hours from the border with Douglas. Az. The reason why I like this kind of rope is because my grandfather and my dad always worked with 60 feet of rope. and also reatas that they do themselves. That's why I really like Mr. Pat's style ...

      and not for offending. but Mr. Pat has a lot of knowledge and experience as if he is a Mexican cowboy lol. everything he does. Which explains. the equipment he uses. everything is to the old school. the hondo in the rope. rawhide braiding reins everything is old school like my father and my grandfather teach me Mrs. Deb.

    That is exactly what I was looking for. Your advise the other helped but the visual goes way farther. I discovered I was not watching for the rotation. Now I am working on Johnny Blocker shots. Thank you so much Mr. Pat and Mrs. Deb from Western Kentucky.

    I have been looking for this kind of information for 20 years. Being from the east coast it’s very hard to find anyone who knows any of this information. I have developed some shots but you’d be amazed how I can over complicate things. Thanks from NC

    Awesome handling of your rope. Just wondering why your nightlatch is on the left? Watching from Appalachian foothills of North Alabama, Sand Mountain.

    • @PatnDebPuckett
      @PatnDebPuckett  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We put the nightlatch on the left because our rope gets tied off on the right. Thank you for the question and the sharp observation!

    The “Pial del Viento” invented by Don Manuel Gonzalez Aragón, a Mexican Charro who was part of a team of Charros lead by Don Ponciano Díaz that toured the world doing shows in the 1880’s and 1890’s, showcasing Mexican cowboy traditions and Mexican style bull-fighting.

    What rope/hondo do you use?? Love the videos from Colorado!!

    • @PatnDebPuckett
      @PatnDebPuckett  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a 5/16 nylon soft lay from King Ropes in Sheridan WY. The hondo is braided rawhide from Mexico.

    I’ve learned so much from your videos and love the presentation. Well done! How do you tie the get down rope to the night latch? Is that a bow line knot? From CALGARY, ALBERTA

    • @PatnDebPuckett
      @PatnDebPuckett  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good morning Gary. We were told that it’s called a sheep shank. I’m sure someone will correct me on that. Anyway, you double your get down rope and run the doubled part through the nightlatch. Then you put a half hitch or two over the doubled end. The half hitch comes from the side of the get down that goes back to the horse not the side that goes to the tail of the rope. Hope this is as clear as mud!

    What is the length of the loop and what is the hardness?

    • @PatnDebPuckett
      @PatnDebPuckett  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      marcio henrique The size of the loop depends on many things like the size of the calf or cow being roped, distance of the throw, etc. The ropes we like are 5/16 nylon soft lay from King Ropes in Sheridan WY.
