9th difficulty was brutal before the stat squish for some reason. You could be level 8, in full crafted gear, as a GUARDIAN, and get ripped to pieces by a signature/2 regular enemies

Ha ha! I made that same wrong turn and had to do that same cliff jump! Way too much of a pain to back track around and take the safe route.
