The Jotun Loki, aka the Wolf's Mother, is said to to have given birth to Odin's two-horse-power horse. In the Icelandic text, Reginsmál, he's depicted in a Scythian hat, connecting him with the older culture of the Caucasus, which had been breeding horse and hound for a long time: if Odinic culture wanted the best then adopting Loki symbolically preserved the old ways.

Giants are the expression of abundant power without the corresponding expression of abundant knowledge and wisdom.
An animal with a disproportionate ratio of brain size to body mass is inevitably brutal, simple and instinctive. Dinosaurs are a fascinating study of this dichotomy.
When seen as body mass, either through supernatural means or symbolically as that of the state, the unnatural jump in physical power and mass corrupts higher thought and wisdom and overwhelms the mind that did not grow along side and earn the right to use it or understand how to use it properly.

I am from Namibia, southern Africa.
Last year, I was at the farm around the fireplace with my grandparents, the oldest in the family. They began telling us stories of giants living with their ancestors and the character traits these creatures had. Jonathan, the stories they told are similar to those you have just described. Due to my ignorance, I laughed and made sport. How could they believe in such myths? I asked. Hearing this from you, I am now beginning to connect the dots. There is so much digging for me to do.
    Thank you, Jonathan.

This is why I'm wary of movements, since they have a tendency to become their own thing concerned with perpetuating themselves rather than continue to follow their telos to its end.
I know a Floridian who once spoke of the "Save the Manatee" movement in his state. It popped up in the 70s and led the charge to do what it intended to do, and by the late 90s/2000s it had succeeded. Legislation and other acts had protected the manatees and they were finally declared safe.
And the "Save the Manatee" people refused to believe it.
They declared that there was a conspiracy between scientists and fish and game to hide the fact that manatees were still under threat and refused to accept their data. They continued on with what they were doing.
But when you think of it, why wouldn't they? If the manatees were saved, the thing they'd worked towards for decades would be over. People's whole careers would be obsolete. The movement would have no reason to keep living and would die, so it refused to.

🇷🇺☦️🤝☪️🇵🇸Here we go again...the heretical Gnostic "symbolism"🤦Just as I thought, as usual, his view on the subject is injected with PAGAN GREEK MYTHS and pagan western culture - no, it does NOT fit with scripture! This is what happens when your mentor is Gnostic "fr." Freeman, see? He talks about the book of Enoch & the Hebrew scripture describing them. Have he ever bothered to learn the Hebrew text of which I am fluent? - of course not. Does he realize that St. Avgustinus' analogy on the sons of Abel vs. sons of Seth was merely a metaphor, and he actually meant that the sons of Cain were the SPIRITUAL descendants of the Nephils? - of course not. And the Nephils ARE the fallen Archangels not their descendants, and the Giants weren't without heads, so he doesn't even get the basics. Gog & Magog have nothing to do with Giants! Giants were extinct already by the Israelites - so he should go & learn basic Scripture!
Jack in the what? Are you kidding??😅 Btw the Lord of the Spirits in Enoch is in fact the person of the Holy Spirit.

Well the titan powers enter the world whe Ymir falls into a giant tree and touches the ancient source of its life, but because of her fear and lack of proper guidance the power is only used for destruction and is passed down through cannibalism. The giant tree is supposed to look ancient, and I think trees like that can represent the connection between things in heaven and Earth, but she falls in which represents that the interaction here is not properly aimed upward. Then she interacts with the source of that heaven and Earth life connection. She only has guidance from a brutal human king who should be below that source of heaven and Earth connection. The ancientness of the tree connects to that idea of giants as remnants of an old world. The cannibalistic passing down of power shows the deapths of how this power is now misaligned.
And thats all from like half an episode, so yeah a proper symbolic AoT analysis would be great.

They exist for most because they seemingly always have existed, but without the underlying principle they have become corrupted into things like Diversity Inclusion Equity doctrine, Critical Race Theory, or toleration of sinful behavior under the guise of being nice.
By the end of a few weeks of thinking about this, I had the image in my head of a man with arms where his head should be, trying to climb a steep cliff but failing despite his many arms because he could not see. Listening to you talk about giants, I think the symbolism is the same.

@JonathanPageau - Thank you for this insightful share on the examples when the Body is too big with little to no Head. My question is are there examples of the opposite where the imbalance is too large of a Head and little to no Body?

    • @animula6908
      @animula6908 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Your question immediately brings to mind all the “awareness” campaigns. Everybody “shows support” or “gives a voice” to or “promotes awareness” about some issue that everyone already knows about, but that isn’t simple to resolve, and in some cases it isn’t even possible to solve because of human nature and human limitations. They always try to present it as though telling people a problem exists that people already know exists is somehow a meaningful contribution toward solving the problem.
Sometimes these no-bodies giants feed the no-heads by funneling general support for the idea of solving a problem into misguided counterproductive initiatives (like when the general fear over Covid fed into the draconian and apparently futile/dangerous mandates, for example).
When all you have are feelings toward a topic, and no measurable goals, you will be more primed to accept any action that claims to address the topic as appropriate, no matter how unlikely it is to result in a good outcome.
It’s interesting that those absent of bodies and those absent of heads don’t balance each other, but amplify each other’s deficiencies. As if humans can’t rely on human institutions to provide, even when they have the resource that you need. Those in need have to direct the integration of the resource for it to serve its purpose, but if those in need lack “body” then they can’t digest what they consume of the resources thrown at them by the smallheaded institutions.
Idk how far off I might be, but I’ll try to remember to ask this on the next patrons-only q & a, because now I’m curious too.

We found giants (and even called them Nephilim) during the recon mission into Canaan in the book of Numbers.
Also, Genesis 6 is such an interesting chapter. The first half dealing with the Nephilim is an inversion of the Annunciation, or the beginning of Christ’s life, and the end of Genesis 6 and the flood is an inversion of Christ’s death.
The Sons of God force themselves on human women resulting in a race of warrior giants who bring more violence into the world resulting in its destruction. In Luke 1 Gabriel comes to Mary and through her fiat a helpless child is born bringing peace on earth and goodwill to men and it ultimately leads to the salvation of the world.
And then of course in the flood, one man and his family are spared while the earth is destroyed, and in Christ one man sacrifices himself for the salvation of the world.

"the recon mission into Canaan in the book of Numbers" resulted in two reports: the original one that was accepted as is and the "evil report" by unreliable guys whom God rebuked but you seem to believe them.

@josephpchajek2685 That's not what he's doing though at all if you truly understand what he's doing he's not putting a lense of symbolism over the bible in fact that wouldn't even be symbolism if he did that. If he did something like that I would be the first one to reject it. What he's doing is using the bibles own categories as a lense to look at reality through. He's not imposing some random arbitrary lense onto the text but rather uses the text itself as its own lense and finds the patterns across different instantiations in the text and then sees the patterns repeat across different levels of reality. There is no dichotomy between symbolic and literal. If you think there is a dichotomy between symbolic in the way Pageau uses it and literal then you are strawmanning Pageau and aren't even talking about the same thing. He rather thinks all of reality is symbolic on every single level even what you call "literal" is already symbolic necessarily so. This perspective is more nuanced than you think I promise, it's a ancient way of seeing the world it requires you to take off your materialistic glasses for a moment and adopt the biblical ancient worldview where experiance is primary to technical descriptions then you find out that these patterns are the precondition for even perception or anything at all, it reveals to you the pattern of reality, and in no way does this also deny a historical reality btw.

No, and the purpose of understanding the symbolic meaning of things isn’t to negate the literal. If anything it’s about understanding that things can’t be symbolic unless there’s a literal, concrete thing for them to symbolize. These patterns really do present themselves repeatedly in a variety of ways, even when cultures outlaw them and ban them and convince people they are nonsense and fairytales. There they come again, reiterating themselves regardless. The truth is hard to rule I guess. But if you only see them as literal, sole isolated incidents then it’s easy to look upon the same pattern and fail to recognize it, because you’ve failed to understand these patterns are imposed from a higher power and won’t just go away if you stop believing in them.

What do you think about Jacob and Caleb trying to encourage the children of Israel to obey the Lord’s command to go and conquer the land of milk and honey which was inhabited by giants? Do you believe that all of the ancient, global stories about physical giants are merely coincidental stories of symbolism?

You do not understand correctly, but you'd be forgiven considering this is a small clip and does not contain the necessary context to understand Jonathan's view of symbolism. Symbolism is not mutually exclusive with real events. Think about how your car represents the freedom to travel, but is also a physical object. Your car was formed for a purpose and it's form communicates that purpose. He doesn't mean symbolic in the way that letters are symbols. More like how a gift is symbolic of friendship. More about purpose than representing.

    1. Romans 8:14 What is the Bible definition of the term ‘sons of God’? 2. John 1:12-13 ‘Sons of God’ are a class of people who are identified in several ways in the Bible: A. Disciples of Jesus: Luk 3:38,20:36; Joh 11:52; Rom 8:16, 9:8; Gal 3:26; 1Joh 3:10. B. Members of the heavenly council; representatives of the worlds: Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7 (worlds: Heb 1:2; 11:3) C. The nation of Israel: Ex 4:22-23. D. Jesus; King of Israel: Psa 2:7; Isa 7:14; 9:6-7; Mic 5:2; Mat 8:29, 27:54; Luk 4:41; 8:28; 22:70; Joh 1:49; 20:31. 3. Genesis 3:15, 3-5,8,25 Genesis is the story of the battle between two seeds. The seed of the serpent are the followers of Satan, and the seed of the woman are the children of God. Cain’s spirit is of Satan, and his seed are the wicked. Abel and Seth’s Spirit is of Jesus, and the seed of Seth is the righteous. The immediate context tells us that the sons of God are of the lineage of Seth; the daughters of men are of the lineage of Cain. Jesus was the son of David, who was of the seed of Seth.
    4. Genesis 6:1 Which came first; the union of the sons of God with the daughters of men, or the giants (nephilim)? Which came first; the ‘mighty
men of renown’, or the giants ? Does the Bible class the ‘mighty men of renown’ and the giants together in wickedness?
’giants’: H5303 nephı̂yl …a feller, bully or tyrant (‘nephilim’)
    5. Numbers 13:33, Deuteronomy 2:10-11, 20-21 Did giants also exist after the flood? In Numbers 13 the word nephilim is used, but all of
the giants before the flood died in the flood. Where did the nephilim come from that were in the promised land after the flood? The giants after the flood came from one of the descendants of Noah in the same way they came to exist as recorded in Genesis.
    6. Genesis 6:5 Is this entire chapter about the seed of the righteous in contrast with the seed of the wicked? Every person on the planet was
divided into only 2 groups; the righteous (Noah and his family) and the wicked. This was the polarization of the entire world into only two divisions; the seed of the woman (righteous descendants of Seth) and the seed of the devil (wicked descendants of Cain). The wicked include the giants (nephilim), and the ‘mighty men of renown’. The nephilim were human; men according to the Bible.
    7. Genesis 6:2 The expression in verse 2 “to take a wife,” is a legal term which describes marriage between a man and a woman; this marriage is a
binding covenant; a contract between the two. (Gen 4:19, 11:29; 12:19; 20:2,3; 24:4,7,37,38,40) The inter-marriages between the sons of God and the daughters of men is what led the human race to the condition where every intent of the thoughts of the heart was only evil continually. This was the cause of the corruption of the earth; and the filling of the earth with violence. World-wide wickedness was the result of the amalgamation of the sons of God with the daughters of men. Is it possible that satan’s plan today is to attack the remnant church, not by open hostility, but friends whose agenda is betrayal with a kiss?
    8. Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. (Mat 22:30; Luk 20:35)
Angels are spirits and are not designed with the capacity to produce children. Where in the Bible are angels classified into a female sex? They do not exist. Angels are not male and female. They are not able to procreate.
    9. Genesis 1:24 Evolution is a lie. When God created all living creatures, He created them after their own kind, and only after their own kind. This
includes man. Neither man nor woman can reproduce with another creature which is not of their own kind. Man and apes or monkeys, for example, can not create offspring together. “…but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial….” (1Cor 15:39-40) Celestial creatures are heavenly; spiritual. Terrestrial creatures are earthly; physical. The spiritual bodies of the celestial and the earthly bodies of the terrestrial are totally different. Those of the celestial; angels, are spirits, with no physical anatomy or reproductive organs, and cannot reproduce. They are incapable of impregnating, and incapable of being impregnated. They cannot bear children. Luk 24:39 …handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
One: There were giants before the sons of God went into the daughters of men. Two: All the giants before the flood were destroyed in the flood. After, there were giants in Canaan, and the ones in Canaan were not hybrids of angels with humans, they were giant human beings. Three: Jesus says angels do not get married. Angels cannot produce offspring. Four: The immediate context shows that ‘sons of God’ are the righteous lineage of Seth. ‘daughters of men’ are those women of the genealogy of Cain. Five: The wider context of Genesis shows that the battle is between a righteous seed and a wicked seed. Six: In the widest context of scripture, ‘sons of God’ are those born again; Christ’s the righteous; the ‘seed of the woman’. ‘sons and daughters of men’ are the wicked; slaves of sin and death; led by the spirit of satan; ‘seed of the serpent’.
    10. Genesis 10:8 The beginning of Nimrod’s kingdom was Babel, and then several other cities are mentioned as well which are the worst enemies of
Israel in the Old Testament. Nimrod was a descendant of Ham, and the line of Ham was the most wicked line of the three sons of Noah. The name Nimrod means “rebellion” in Hebrew, and of course this whole enterprise at the Tower of Babel was a rebellious enterprise. “And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” (Gen 11:3, 4) Notice the word “us”. They were motivated by self-exaltation; they wanted to be renowned; glorified. This was a self-centered enterprise. What didn’t they want to happen? They didn’t want to be scattered over the face of the earth; they wanted to remain consolidated in one great apostate united system against God, which we might call a ‘New World Order’. This was no longer a patriarchal type of existence, where each household was independent of the other households. This is the first time that you have a monarchy in human history. Over a thousand years later another Babylonian ruler named Nebuchadnezzar established what is known as the Neo-Babylonian empire in the same geographical location, and we catch a little bit of the spirit of the original builders by looking at the spirit that Nebuchadnezzar had. “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” (Dan 4:30) He had the same selfish spirit as the original builders, he wanted to exalt himself and set himself on high. They wanted their reputation to become known, they wanted to become renowned. The mighty men and giants of Genesis chapter 6:4 were also renowned; men with a name, or with a reputation. If we read the very next verse we can see what kind of reputation they had. “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Gen 6:5) They were wicked; renowned for iniquity.

executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” (Ecc 8:11) The sons of men here are the male counterpart of the daughters of men of Gen 6. The sons of men are the wicked male descendants of Cain. Why would some of the sons of God see the daughters of men, and pay less attention to the daughters of God? There was something externally unique that the sons of God saw in the daughters of men that they did not see in the daughters of God. What? The meanings of names in the Bible are often of deep significance. Let’s examine two names of women in the genealogy of Cain. Genesis 4:19: Then Lamech (the first polygamist) took for himself two wives: the name of one was ‘Adah’. “Adah” is a Hebrew word used both a noun and as a verb. It means “to deck with jewels”, or “to ornament”. H5711 (Adah) ‛âdâh aw-daw' From H5710; ornament; the name of two women. Let’s notice some other occurrences of this word. Ex 33:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it: 33:2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: 33:3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way. 33:4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments. Stiff-necked means hard-hearted and unconverted.
‘ornaments’ (v.4) is [Adah]. Ex 33:5 For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments [Adah] from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. This word Adah is constantly used in the Old Testament to refer to Israel in apostasy, wearing ornaments; wearing jewellery. Let’s notice several other instances with the same word ‘Adah’: Jer 4:30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments [Adah] of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. Are ornaments connected with apostasy from God? They most certainly are. Ez 23:40 And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments [Adah]… Israel is trying to impress the apostate men of foreign nations, and so she paints her eyes and she puts on jewelries; adornments; ornaments [Adah]. Hos 2:13 And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked [Adah] herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD. This is one of the characteristics of the wicked women of the rebellious line of Cain. Gen 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. ‘Zillah’ means “shadow”. The following verses uses the word ‘shadow’ in the context of the wicked: Job 38:17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? Ecc 8:13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. Jam 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. What is it that attracted the eyes of the sons of God to the daughters of men? It was the shiny, artificially bright and beautiful external appearance concealing the deadly spiritual darkness within the lineage of Cain. Ez 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. The global cataclysmic deluge occurred because the sons of God, led by external characteristics, took the initiative to join with the women of the world. The result of this amalgamation was the corruption of the human race, where every intent of the thoughts of the heart, was only evil continually. The church joining with the world will never convert the world to Jesus. It always leavens the church to the standards of the world. God’s elect sons were converted to the ways of the world; so God called Noah, a preacher of Truth, to rebuke the apostate world. Heb 11:7 says he condemned the world. The flood is a type of what’s going to happen at the end of time. Mat 24:37 “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” In the time we live; just before the second coming, are Christians doing the same thing that the sons of God did before the flood? Are there temptations in the world, of tinsel and glitter, of worldly women, and worldly men? Is the church forming alliances with carnally-minded, self-exalted worldly people of external wealth and renown? Are God’s people today indulging in, and being corrupted by shiny, artificially bright and beautiful external appearances concealing deadly spiritual darkness within? “…as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Has God given a message to today’s Elijah and today’s Noah - to present to the His apostate elect people and to the world, to warn them? Rev 14:7 “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” On the prophetic ‘Day of Atonement’ the Israelites were supposed to attire themselves in a very simple way. We are today in the actual real ‘day of atonement’. God’s message to and through all is to come out of Babylon. Eventually, whoever does not come out of Babylon will worship the beast, his image, and receive the mark of the beast; and as a result, will be lost. Is God going to have a group of people that will not be deceived by this? Yes. These are those who will be alive when the world is destroyed. They will survive the destruction of the world like Noah and his family survived at the time of the flood. They are known as the hundred and forty-four thousand. Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins… Did the sons of God defile themselves with women before the flood? What does a woman represent in Bible prophecy? (A woman is a symbol of a church.) God has a group of individuals in the end time that will not have spiritually apostate, adulterous relationships with popular churches. How are the apostate churches clothed and adorned? Rev 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication… Are the wicked churches decked out the very same way as the daughters of men before the flood? Yes! However, God going to have a group of people that do not become defiled with these churches just like Noah and his family. 2Cor6:14: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…”. It has become very common for the church today to adopt the practices and the culture of the world; the music of the world; adornment of the world; the fashion of the world. Despite the invasion of the church by wolves in sheep’s costume, God knows seven thousand in ‘Israel’; faithful, in harmony with the teaching of the Bible; not blending with the world in dress, adornment, or music. Some may say: “This is Old Testament; this doesn’t concern us.” Some; where the Scriptures demand a change of life or a sacrifice will say: “That was for the Jews; the Sabbath was for the Jews; unclean food was for the Jews, modesty; that was for the Jews.” Has God has changed? Does He expect less from us than he expected from His chosen people of the past? 1Pet 3:3 Whose adorning… What is the Greek word here behind ‘adorning’? It’s the word ‘kosmos’. It’s also where we get the word ‘cosmetics’ from. …let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel…” What is the adornment that God looks positively upon? The adornment of heart: 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Adornment should not be external, it should be internal. Did Jesus have any external physical attraction that people were drawn towards? Does the Bible describe Jesus’ physical appearance; His outer charisma? There is abundant description of his character. The inner qualities of Jesus shine forth in the Gospels, but “He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him.” Isa 53:2 It can only be be the internal that attracts people to us; Christ in us, not the external.

I think your depiction of the greek myths is improper, with all due respect.
As I understand it, uranos and gaia (sky and earth) bore all the titans. This could be seen as an analogy to the spirit and water from genesis, but a more morally ambiguous account.
The titans are widely considered monsters, or wild forces like sea serpents, or saturn, who later became the judaised into satan.
The greek gods were condemned by the titans in an analogous way that the jews were being used as chattle by the egyptians. Therefore their rebellion was entirely justified in the context of their myth. Of course, this makes the logical leap that not being exploited is better than exploitation, which I'm fine with.
Also as a side note, the gods weren't the side effects of the castration of saturn, who is also chronos. They were the children of zeus, who was known as Ios in latin or jupiter, anglicized into dios pater.
I'm also unsure what the "proper" union of spirit and earth is defined as. Kind of important for the purposes of judgement, I think.

The "axioms and themes" of the greek stories are not "completely different" from the Christian interpretation: Jonathan states correctly that the giants/nephilim are an improper mixture of heaven and earth, that is quite literally the greek story, as the giants are hostile to human life as well as the gods whose favor it is pertinent to acquire. You say you disagree with him, rephrase the stuff he said in a lower IQ, and act like you've contributed.
What happens when the titans are defeated? They are cast down and imprisoned in Tartarus (Hell).
So... a spiritually powerful group of entities rebel against the authority of the heavens, and are defeated and cast down. Sounds like one of the most parallel analogues to the Christian story of "fallen angels."
Most indigenous cultures share these stories of the wild precursor. When I say you are projecting your own personal agenda, I'm referring to your strange reference to Egypt. You're shoehorning a comparison to a very different story. The titans were not slaves of the gods, but their creation.

(edit: CORRECTION: the titans fought the gods who were rebelling against them, but the point stands: a host of spiritual beings were cast down for their actions and imprisoned in hell - it's very reminiscent of the fall. Also, one can still understand Kronos as having rebelled against the right order of things when he ate his children: every man understands that this is the ultimate evil, even before Christ)

What about viewing the giants as meaning that has become one-sided because of the power drive behind it? You take away the power and the desire and the giant deflates, so that the meaning can become viewed again in its proper context (in relation to other intelligencies and principles of meaning). I am thinking about this because of the Jungian interpretation of giants and cyclopes as one-sided emotions that take over..

These giants are only slayed as David slayed Goliath. By finding their weaknesses and hitting them hard where it hurts them the most.
With regards to the giant Apple, every year I got defeated. Last year when they released Iphone 15, I acted as David, and I have won, I hit Apple where it hurt it the most, not paying over $1.000 for a phone that was $100 to produce. Let there be more Davids to slay this giant, as this Apple principality in the world, that has tremendous power, does not properly align its goals with the earth, or with the people. It only wants to grow bigger. What grows bigger will only slam us harder later. We've been slammed with Apple parts that are serially coded and our phones do not accept them because they do not come directly from Apple.
Another Giant (government) is in cahoots with the Apple giant and both orchestrate how to destroy the earth (the people) and strip it of its power. We can't even replace a battery in our phone anymore if it is not a genuine Apple part. We are all feeding the giant instead of starving him. We are feeding it too well, too richly I would say. The more we feed it, the more it will eat us all. So the time has come for many of us to be David, and as ONE corporate David, to defeat this Goliath.
Another giant is the one that tells us that very soon we won't own anything anymore and we'll be happy. The world is full of f***ed up giants. They all need to be slayed!
We can fight Goliath by asking the other Giant (Government) to make better laws, but giants are usually friends, and better laws will not always be made in our favour. It may seem like that for a while, but the small print will prove that we've just been f***ed again. Davids all over the world, let's wake up and defeat Goliath!
Another giant is TH-cam. This giant is well know for allowing us to speak only what it likes to hear. How much will we stand such rubbish? F**k all the giants that act like gods and oppress the people! F**k them all!
The answer is: STOP FEEDING THEM! STARVE THEM till they'll beg you to feed them coz otherwise they'll die of hunger. And feed them only when they'll agree to listen to the people: eg. put removable batteries in our phones, allow us to change the parts in our phones by ourselves, and even create an APPLE designed guide about how to desolder, reball and solder back again their newest CPU successfully. Or any other chip in the phones.
WAKE UP DAVID!!! Goliath is at hand!

I'm personally quite sure that many myths of giants arose to give explanation for later peoples observing megalithic monuments. In Britain, dolmens structures showing off some VERY impressive abilities in manipulating mighty boulders (Brownshill dolmen in Ireland sports a 150tonne capstone though most are around 10tonnes) ...those monuments were generally constructed around 3500 BC, with some stone circles, stone rows coming over the following millennium. So, by year zero, they were 3500 years old and their builders long forgotten.
Similar traditions appear right around the world, they generally appear to cease with the coming of iron working for reasons I'll not go into here.
So, these monuments litter the landscape and they must gave been noted by later occupants... occupants who had no idea how they were constructed and had no equivalent craft in their age. So, there we have a very obvious inspiration to tell tales of giants and those tales remain existent in the British Isles to this day.
To be honest, I do find it slightly puzzling that this begins with scripture... since folkloric tales of giants go way back and appear in regions and cultures completely disconnected from Christianity... to begin with their symbolism there seems to be neglecting to acknowledge the roots that symbol grew from.

Giants identified by mythology is my claim to fame. Giants are very real and mythology is very true in ways most people wouldn’t expect or believe.

"The Giant's Drink was used as a psycho-analysis tool, and it often had damaging effects on the students. It was common for a student to have suicidal thoughts if they dwelt on the seemingly impossible game; however, Pinual was the only student to kill himself after trying to beat the level. In the game, there was a giant who asked the player to drink from one of the two cups in front of him. He said that if they won, he would take them to Fairyland. Normally, no one could get past this part, as both drinks would kill the player. However, instead of choosing between the two drinks, Ender Wiggin killed the giant by having his character burrow into the giant's eye. As the giant's corpse fell to the ground, Ender's character found himself in the very same Fairyland that the giant had promised him." Ender's Game Wiki, Mind Game

19:20 In other words the structure of the giants narrative is archetypal. Jung met a giant(Izdubar) on his wanderings in the Red Book, here is a bit:
Two bull horns rise from his great head, and a rattling suit of armor covers his chest. His black beard is ruffled and decked with exquisite stones. The giant is carrying a sparkling double axe in his hand, like those used to strike bulls. Before I can recover from my amazed fright, the giant is standing before me. I look at his face: it is faint and pale and deeply wrinkled. His almond-shaped eyes look at me astonished. Horror takes hold of me: this is Izdubar, the mighty, the bull-man. He stands and looks at me: his face speaks of consuming inner fear, and his hands and knees tremble. Izdubar, the powerful bull trembling? Is he frightened? I call out to him:
Jung: “Oh, Izdubar, most powerful, spare my life and forgive me for lying like a worm in your path.”
Izdubar : “I do not want your life. Where do you come from?”
Jung: “I come from the West.”
Izdubar: “You come from the West? Do you know of the Western lands? Is this the right way to the Western lands?”
Jung: “I come from a Western land, whose coast washes against the great Western sea.”
Izdubar: “Does the sun sink in that sea? Or does it touch the solid land in its decline?”
Jung: “The sun sinks far beyond the sea.”
Izdubar: “Beyond the sea? What lies there?”
Jung: “There is nothing but empty space there. As you know, the earth is round and moreover it turns around the sun.”
Izdubar: “Damned one, where do you get such knowledge? So there is no immortal land where the sun goes down to be reborn? Are you speaking the truth?”
His eyes flicker with fury and fear. He steps a thundering pace closer. I tremble.

Oh wow, Jung’s encounter with Izdubar is such a clear symbolic representation of our modern scientific worldview encountering the ancient archetypal worldview, or collective unconscious, which is so divorced from our current empirical literalist way of thinking that it could only be represented as a giant.

🇷🇺☦️🤝☪️🇵🇸Here we go again...your heretical Gnostic "symbolism"🤦Just as I thought, as usual, your view on the subject is injected with PAGAN GREEK MYTHS and pagan western culture - no, it does NOT fit with scripture! This is what happens when your mentor is Gnostic "fr." Freeman, see? You talk about the book of Enoch & the Hebrew scripture describing them. Have you ever bothered to learn the Hebrew text of which I am fluent? - of course not. Do you realize that St. Avgustinus' analogy on the sons of Abel vs. sons of Seth was merely a metaphor, and he actually meant that the sons of Cain were the SPIRITUAL descendants of the Nephils? - of course not. And the Nephils ARE the fallen Archangels not their descendants, and the Giants weren't without heads, so you don't even get the basics. Gog & Magog have nothing to do with Giants! Giants were extinct already by the Israelites - learn basic Scripture!
Jack in the what? Are you kidding??😂🤦

Symbols follow the physical world as a reflection. Giants cannot exist as a symbol without a reality that gives the symbol its power. A tree as a symbol for example, would be meaningless if there was no such thing as a tree.

There are of course symbols which do not have a physical reality but those symbols have a localized meaning, they are not then universal. The fact that there is a unifying principle to be seen in giant symbolism amplifies the case that they had a physical form. Perhaps only as an expression of ourselves but nevertheless based in the physical reality and expressed in the symbolic.

Why do you think it is, that in the world of cryptid sightings, sasquatch sighting reports seem to have gone through the roof in the past four years? Also: I never paid any attention to them at all until I began looking into Orthodoxy 4 years ago. And after the LoS episode on the Giants, YT algorithms began popping up cryptid podcasts, some surprisingly intelligent and well made. I don't know what to make of it, but something frightening seems to be going on for many people, enough so that seasoned, life long hunters refuse to step in the woods again. Then take David Paulides podcast Missing 411, the CanAm Project, collecting data on all the people who go missing in national parks and wilderneess areas, which our own government does not keep data on.
It would be interesting to hear a talk with you and Wes Garman. If anything, there's a potential world of people out there who may be open to learning about Orthodoxy.
