Rice said it himself Rodri is the gold standard.
If it wasn't for the bias towards forwards now when it came to trophies on individual players rodri would have swept them all.
Rodri is the engine room of city.
One difference I've noticed between the two, is Rice's tackling being far better. Rodri relies more on tactical fouls particularly on counter attacks.
Rodri gets away with a lot of bad tackles. If he were doing those things as an Arsenal player he would have rivalled Xhaka for number red cards.
That’s called tactical fouling and Rodri is very experienced at it
Yeah not picking up yellow cards
exactly, rodri can be a liability in big games with the amount of fouls he concedes
@@WiseOnion I told you he’s experienced, he stops counter attacks before they even happen, and he pulls them gently but enough to stop their pace. Too soft for a yellow and the attack wasn’t developed enough that the ref takes action. Honestly extremely intelligent
I think Rice got a couple of levels more to go while Rodri has reached his absolute peak.
Rodri only 27
Exactly
Rice is 25, you don't know what he can achieve in two years

LITTLE EDGE… REALLY… Rice just started showing his worth this season in a big team, Rodri has been at this level for years now… In no world is Rodri not miles better than Rice…
I’m an Arsenal fan and being honest I hope the best team wins this Sunday. Arsenal and city this season are neck to neck but I’d always want Arsenal to win

No, you're not!
No big year difference btn Rodri and Rice. 2 years
Rodri is by far the best CDM we had since prime Sergio Busquets. To pick Rice over him is ridiculous
Whole panel is so disrespectful to Rodri. Rice is Arsenal's best player, but Rodri is arguably EPL's best player. And I'm no City fan.
Odegard is Arsenal's best player
Tf are u on? Odegaard, saliba, Gabriel , saka... everyone is good at their position
Who cares...😂😂😂😂
I repeat myself. At Westham, Rice spent majority of the game chasing the ball to win it back to give it immediately to players who’ll lose it as quickly as they got it!
Under Arteta, it’s the opposite. Arterta’s Arsenal leads on Field Tilt probably across all Europe; so Rice spends majority of the time WITH the ball! So he’s had to learn from Arteta a lot of new things that he knew nothing about previously regarding efficiency and effectiveness offensively on and off the ball. Yes, you can be very offensive WITHOUT the ball in Arteta’s system! Rice and Havertz are incredibly effective in that more and more this season and it’s helped the entire team, a lot!
So for me to see Rice grasp such amount of detailed data and be able to process it like he is, in less than a season with Arteta’s education when Rodri has been with Pep so many years; Rice for me is more valuable to his team this season and has contributed a far greater amount to how much Arsenal has improved as a team than Rodri has shown this season.
I’m looking at the AMOUNT of 🆕 things Rice has had to study 📚 and execute at a very very high level in the shortest time! It’s abundantly clear how Arteta is exhaustive in details when coaching a player, and many just freeze when such gigabytes of data is uploaded into them, not Rice! He’s thrived so rapidly it’s insanely impressive for both Arteta and him…and Arsenal of course.
I’m definitely sure this is how Arteta will put it himself. But it’ll go over so many people. But that’s fine👍🏾.
Declan Rice for me. After the summer preseason, Rice will be a Syllabus of Football Knowledge; studied by many, authored by Mikel Arteta’s genius;
Now everyone understands why Rice listened to Arteta and refused to join Bayern and City…he chose Education over an already Big Club. Now he’s gonna be part of a great Arsenal Storyline that he’s markedly part of💯
Rodri is better, they tried to use numbers to hype rice and it just confirmed it. Every category Rodri was top 4 in the league in, mostly first or second. The eye test says Rodri, the consistency says Rodri and the performances in big games says Rodri. Now maybe down the line rice will overtake him, who knows, but this is a reach right now.
Rice did play very well in almost every game this season
@@mohra968 I never said he didn’t. Rice is a brilliant player, but Rodri is the best in the world at his position. Rice has won big games, and played well, Rodri has been instrumental in the biggest club game in the sport. It’s not about saying one is great, one is trash. It’s about appreciating both are elite talents, but one is approaching the summit, the other is already sitting there.
Yep they showed rice heat map and didn’t show Rodri’s. They also hid Win/Loss stat for both midfielders. Rice lost 3 games and Rodri hasn’t lost in over 59 games

Declan Rice and Rodri are the epitome of their managers and why they have stylistically diiferent approaches to football. And I would take Declan Rice, all day, every day. He can do everything Rodri can to the same standard and more whereas Rodri cant do the same. The difference in passing stats and other 'midfield' based metrics are due to team style and manager philosophy. Declan is such a superior player and whether that shows in a one of game this sunday remains to be seen but will do overall.

Why is Grealish still ass then?
KdB was winning Bundesliga player of the seasons and breaking the Bundesliga assist records before joining City, Dias was considered to be the best young defender at the time and was valued around 80m for that, Stones was regarded highly when he was at Everton and that's why City spent 50m for him, which at the time was an insane amount for a defender.

I'm pretty sure you didn't know Wirtz was highly rated until this season.
@@space1734 you sound like a city fan ....why ain't taking about rodri while at Athletico
Kind of a dumb comparison tbh - both have different roles in their team which is why the state are what they are. Rodri needed to break the line with passing for months on end due to the lack of KDB. Rice doesn’t need to break the line with passing since that’s what odegaard does, hence why he’s developed in carrying the ball.
Obviously Rodri is at his peak and has cemented his role in great team play. Rice still has a ways to go but I wouldn’t say he’s that far off. Will be interesting to see rice in the coming years and what he’ll do for arsenal and England. Cheers

Liverpool midfield put rodri in their pocket esp Endo
May he should go and do it with Westham as Rice did
Who is better Rodri or Rice?
I'd say Thomas Partey, when he is in form
I pick Rice, he does less but still keeps up to Rodri’s stats
I'm reaching out because I am a video editor and I will love to be part of your team.
Looking forward to the possibility of working together and creating something extraordinary
Definitely, they picked Rice because he's English. But realistically, if they owned teams, they would sign Rodri over Rice any day. He's bigger and way more physical, attributes you need in a holding midfielder. Now, if the question was about attacking midfield, then you could probably make a case for Rice. But objectively, Rodri is a better extension of the defense, and his size and physicality is essential for defending set pieces.
I'm an Arsenal fan but I hope Rice gets to Rodri's level as quickly as possible. I love Rice but Rodri is levels ahead.
They play differently... I wouldn't like Rice to become Rodri, not at all.

Both are immense players. Rodri is world class and one of the best. Rice is the English version of Rodri. Younger and less experienced but on current form Rice is the best in Europe right now. Rice will have his hands full with Foden and Jorginho will be up against Rodri. Walker and Stones are out. Martinelli plays he will have Akanji on toast. Regardless Odergaard, Saka, Martinelli and Trossard will prove to be a force on Sunday. May the best win. Can’t wait for the game.
Hahahahahahahahaha ....
Odd that we Arsenal fans are confident, but also rightfully wary and respectful of City, because they have been The Team for a better part of the past decade, while commentators like these are making it seem like City are not City anymore or something.
In a way, it is a game that will tell us whether it is time for the Straw Hat Pep gave Arteta to return to him.
1:43 the second heatmap might not accurately reflect Rice's current role. Since Rice has shifted to attacking midfield position recently, while Jorginho has assumed the DM, . Ideally, three heatmaps would provide a clearer picture. Otherwise it could be misleading, showing neither his former role in Arsenal shirt nor his recent
That said, if this misleads Manchester City, then all the better for us. 😆 I'll take it.

Rodri is top class but I think Rice has that Steven Gerrad ceiling in his future. He's not actually a 6 but an 8. He's a wonderful carrier of the ball and is more Yaya Toure than people are willing to admit or better yet Patrick Viera. He has some Mousa Dembele shiftness too. He's not better on the ball than Partey but he's covers the field with Nkante like facility. He's improved technically but he was always skillful as a player, a street baller kind of skill, functional skill if you may. But Rodri is similar to Casemiro in his adeptness on the ball, Argentinian/Italy to constantly foul and a natural tempo setter like Busquets.
