You sound great on both horns. In this demonstration I hear that the TJ had more core and resistance. The Yamaha 62S seemed to take more of your air and had a bigger sound, more fat and spread. Your subtone was fatter on the YAS 62S

Love the tone and the Dave Brukeck lick. Excellent!

The Yammie 52 has it here. Much more "open sounding" add that "Yamaha sound--"bark"...meaty sound". Even in the 52.
TJ saxes. You can get good sounds. More so with their Signature RAW/XS saxophones but at that asking price...5k SGSBP ...might as well look at a Selmer-Paris Ref model. Or a mint condition MKVI if you can find one. Keilwerth SX90 Shadow or non-Shadow SX980's. Even the Yamaha 875EX would give those a run for their money. Yanagisawa WO20 or WO37 if you like the Yanagisawa's "clean" sound.

You play beautifully. They are hard to tell apart aurally. I would have to play both to make a choice. It sounds like the Trevor James is a great value for the money. The silver Yamaha is more physically beautiful to my eye. I love silver horns. I guess if money were no object, I would choose the Yamaha.
Thank you for sharing your great playing!

I'd have to go with the Yamaha based on sound.

The Yamaha was richer. The tester is a good player and for a beginner to intermediate the TJ is good enough. The used Taiwan made sax is the best value in the market

    Hmmm🤔
The Yamah sounded better, but you didn't play the same tune, and your approach to both instrument was different, hence not a fair comparison.
    That said, nice playing! O

Thank you Jacob for the kind words. It was the exact same two tunes on both horns though, not sure if I could make them anymore similar :)

Yamaha is heaps better. You buy YAS62 once, and play it for the rest of your life: it is that good. And you save tons of money in "upgrades" which are not necessary with Yamaha anymore.

Pocket says TJ, ears say Yamaha. Either way, a good mouthpiece will lead to satisfying sounds.

I preferred the sound of the TJ - more mellow

using different pressure and control to blow the 2 horns.. is not a fair comparison. 62s for me!!

Yamaha was more crisp and had better clarity to me, tJ a different sound abit more resistence. It sounded like you found the yamaha easier to play.

The silver yamaha eventually sounds good. If you buy a yamaha, then silver is better, gold sounds too fried.

Trevor James is a high maintenance saxophone sounds great for the first few months and the after that it sounds terrible. I have owned really cheap rubbish saxophones before that never gave me this much trouble.

      Adică?
Explica dece sunet groaznic, și dece asa defecte?
Mie mi se pare un instrument foarte bun, calitate preț!
Defectele ar putea fi de la perinite uzate sau un descentraj!

No yamaha is worth the money. Beside good mechanism and good tuning, the sound is very think and spread. I have tried 82z, 875ex and they have very poor sound.
