Rule #15 of Darkest Dungeon: Never say anything along the lines of “This game isn’t that hard”. It will give enemies a 20 percent bonus Crit chance for the current dungeon.
Bro literally the moment I said that the next encounter was a ghoul, all the enemies gained 50% crit chance and dodge and blind tokens stops working for the rest of the run.
"Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer". I guess we've learned the lesson now. I hope we see how this game evolves until its final release together, Otz, these were some wonderful streams. Leper is the best boy and you can't convince me otherwise.
Ultimate cheese strat: Bring at least 4 fire bombs/ ichor bombs/spike balls to the fight and nuke one of the shackles right off the bat, makes it way easier.
Each of the chains blocks a specific type of skills, has different resistances, has its own unique attack, and applies a different effect on the other chains when it dies. - The lion's head blocks melee skills and targets mostly front ranks. When killed, it gives +20% dmg to the other chains. - The square chain with the + on it blocks healing. It has the highest resistances of the 4 and heals the other chains for 30 on death. - The round chain blocks stress healing. It buffs the other chains with crit on death. - The arrow quiver chain blocks ranged attacks. It prefers to target the back ranks. I don't know what it does on death because I've always killed it last (blocking ranged is useless when you're standing alone in rank 1 in front of an angry Leper). There are two main tactics to deal with this boss: - You AoE all chains and finish them off by leaving the healing chain last. This requires a lot of setup, including a special party and combat items. As with all AoE tactics, you will be taking full damage from all enemies until the end of the fight, which makes this tactic inherently risky and bad. - You select the chain that is the most threatening and easiest to focus by your party and bring it down quickly. Rinse & repeat. You need to be mindful of the healing chain's on-death heal. Extra tips: - if a skill does many things at once, it may get blocked more often. Raucous Revelry is both a heal and a stress heal, for example, so both the healing and the stress chain will block it. Same goes for Withstand. - a skill type being blocked means combat items that do the same will also be blocked (laudanum, healing salve). - trinkets with extra action on hit are very good here because the chains spam a lot of multi-target attacks and the skill block at the beginning of each turn can also trigger an extra turn. - the chains often stun. If your party is heavily reliant on one person, make sure to protect them from stuns. - the key to the chains (see what I did there?) is to do what you can when you can instead of being reactive. If you're just dishing out damage and waiting for things to go bad before resorting to heals, you will find yourself blocked, and dead. Having said all of this, if you kill 2 chains and your whole party is alive, then that's pretty much a win. Any of the 3 tanks can solo at least 1 chain by themselves.
It reminds me of the saying "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it" and oh boy does this game make you re-learn the history of it's brutality.

Reminds me of the Oregon Trail when literally every odd is stacked against you in every conceivable way imaginable, then you win and it's always "How many times did I die to get here?"
to be fair... darkest dungeon 1 was like this one. sometimes runs were so easy that i asked myself how anyone could die to that. sometimes the first fight screwed me and i had to retreat.
The first dd was so eeasy I haven't lost a single hero on medium difficulty, it was so easy, in fact, that until I watched some darkest dungeon compilation videos I had no idea that heroes don't die immediately when they drop to 0. The only thing that was not easy in that is a tedious grind. I dropped it bevause it was so easy and gind-y and went straight to the dd2. And dd2 dropkicked me from the start, and even now that I have not insignificant amount of expirience in this game it is not easy, and what makes it even less easy is that you can't fully heal your party without items or special heals neither their hp or stress, because majority of healing or stresshealing abilities do not allow you heal after some threshold. Like you can't use this healing ability if character has more than 50% hp, or you can't use this stressheal abilith if your character has less than 5 stress, and it is very rarely that staling is advantageous to you, like it was in first dd1, in dd2 almost every mob is so dangerous that by not killing it and trying to heal your party instead you will lose more than you restore, while in dd1 you could finish every battle with 100% hp and 0 stress. And I like dd2 far more and not planning on dropping it.

Current dungeon? Bs its more of a savefile related buff.
Once you say "This run is easier than before" delete the savefile as now ot is cursed.
All enemies instantly become main characters while your party becomes the side characters side character.
