you can also nail the stud on and force it in or out as you go down it nailing if it's not perfectly straight and make it straight and win both the boards are nailed together good they will hold each other from warping anymore we would call that lining the board basically forcing it to be straight as we nail it off

I've done this method before on interior walls. It works sometimes; however, it can push drywall nails/screws through the other side. And if it's an exterior wall like this one, covered with stucco, that's not gonna be possible.

You can also wet shim them where you put some stiff mud on the studs and push a level into the kerdi board and just gently set the screws and then set them deeper after it’s stiffened up

I would worry about mud shrinking?

We have actually done that method in another video that I haven't had time to edit and post. While it does work great, and I do like it, I've found that the time it takes to mix thinset and wait for it to dry enough to hold a screw makes it less efficient than using shims. I'll do a comparison video one day when I get time...

@MixedUpMenopausalADHD many thin sets nowadays including Schluter All Set have little to no shrinkage.

@@osearcy4 I guess it depends on what all you are doing in a place because it didn’t really take us extra time. We already had the mud from setting the pan and had other stuff to do so we could let the screw out for the night

you know you can just nail another 2x4 or 2x4 blocks onto the side of the studs and let them hang out past where need be if you use a whole new stud that's straight makes it real easy but sometimes there's blocking in the way but when I used to frame houses I would just scab another stud onto the side of the studs that are bad and basically let them hang out a little bit to wherever you need it and then I would run a string line across the wall depending on how big of a wall or room I'm doing or ceiling or tray ceiling or roof and so on and so forth just another option for you guys It might need it one day

I have tried this option. Problem is straight 2x4s are practically non-existent in California. Also they are expensive. This method of cutting shims down is the quickest and additionally the cheapest method I have found to fir a wall plumb for kerdi board. I have even wet shimmed. For now, this is the way.
