My RV life has been good to me. I’ve been part time RV traveler since 2020. The first year I lost 30#, with no change to diet. It’s the extra work involved to camp and hook up my car and all the other tasks in RV travel. I’m a solo traveler so I have to do everything alone: cooking, packing, camp set up, and I cook my meals in my RV. After the 1st year, I got serious and went on a medically supervised diet plan. I’m now 3 years into my RV travel and have lost 85#. I’m the same weight when I was 22 yr old [I’m 60 now]. RV life has been better to me than anything else in my life. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Retired Navy couple here. CARNIVORE is the answer. America has terrible food that is killing everyone. Seed oils and preservatives are bad. Worked wonderful for my family.
Yep. Also fasting. Fasting heal the body. Ch For fasting Dr Mindy pelz and Dr jason fung. learn to food prep for your travel days. Cook up some Bergers and just eat them cold or deli meat rolled up with cheese etc.
No viable proof that caused it. I am 90 years old and I’ve been a carnivore for 10 years. I am healthier than my 67 year-old son. I should also add that I am on no medication‘s. My doctor tells me every year just keep doing what you’re doing.😁😁
I agree, I'm down 23 lbs from the carnivore diet. My blood sugar is down to normal, my lipid panel is good, I feel better and I'm healthier than ever. I also walk a mile a day now.
I am carnivore and believe in it 100%, but there are some that do not, so I offer this advice to start. NSNG..... no sugar no grains, this would probably improve most people's health right away. Walk every day and lift something heavy every day. I would also add to avoid heavily processed foods, ingredients you can't pronounce AND seed oils. So basically avoid all the middle isles of a grocery store and be careful what you eat when dining out. I had at one point lost 140lbs doing keto, then carnivore. RVing is challenging to this because my wife and I like to experience the local spots, so a lot of bars, restaurants, etc. So I gained some back. I now combat that by scoping out the place first, if they have burger patties I can eat, I will do that or a breakfast menu with eggs and bacon. Otherwise I eat before. Or I take some butter and bacon to snack on while out. For anyone asking, I had an artery scan done earlier this year, 100% clear. My blood work is all in the right levels and I do not worry about cholesterol. Oh, for fast food, many places will server you just burger patties, I use that in a pinch.
I’m an over the road trucker. 6 days a week are my travel days and I’ve been at it for about four years now. The lack of routine, crazy hours, moving from hot climates to cold climates twice a week make it literally impossible to get a good exercise routine. Since I left my 9-5 and started trucking I’ve gained forty pounds. Literally the only way I can lose weight out here is by skipping meals, intermittent fasting only eating from 6pm-9pm. It works but with all the constant stress and unpredictability it’s easy to fall off the diet wagon and get back to bad eating. Back in October I started taking compounded semiglutide for weight loss and it’s been a game changer for me. Down 25lbs in two months while also driving a big rig over 20,000 miles. It’s not for everyone but these weight loss drugs might be a good solution for you if you find it impossible to get a routine going. Best of luck!
RV fulltime travel has improved our health, then again, we move twice a year which gives us time to become familiar with local farmers, artisan breads and trying new hikes each week.
My husband and I have faced similar problems with health issues as you have described. We started full-time RVing in 2017. We just went crazy, going here, going there,. We wanted to just see and do everything. Well, we changed - had to. First change was - no more than 4 hours driving in a day. So that means we travel more slowly. I have actually planned to cook something when we stop at a rest area for a break. Cooking at rest areas is one method I use to keep food in the refrigerator that is healthy. When I cook, say a soup, I double or triple the recipe so all I have to do is put it in the microwave to heat it up when I am tired. I call this "planned-overs" not "left-overs". We also stay a minimum of 1 week at our destinations. We spend a month in Maine because we love it so much. We winter at one resort in Florida because I am finished with snow and ice. That is when we see doctors and take care of health issues. This yeaar we joined a gym that is part of a chain, so we have some continuity when we travel. I also use free weights. I worked with a personal trainer in order to learn to exercise and strength-train properly. I think that is it for the changes we have made. I will be on the lookout for you as we travel this great country of ours.
Stacey I am so excited for you! Irene Iron Fitness is the best thing you could do. I started working with Chris in March of this year and she has been the best! I have learned so much and my relationship with food had come a long way. I am so excited to see how you love it 🎉 Irene Iron Fitness is a game changer!!!!
I love this so much! We also think Chris does a fantastic job and is great to work with. Thank you for sharing. I am sure others would get a lot of help with Chris.
I enjoy your channel, we travel a lot during the year by RV and other, yet as a physician I do not blame the act of travel for my health but my daily choices. If traveling, staying home or working the choices we make are the key. Choose to drive no more than 5-6 hours no matter how far you get, dont stay less than 4 nights at destinations, if you feel 1 night on the travel route is not enough then consider 2 nights per stop. We have found that the worst thing we do is push the driving past 6 hours. Yes I agree eating out less would be healthier we also try to do this. With shorter travel days you have time to exercise ,rest and cook at home.
2 1/2 years full time has been terrible for my health. We rarely eat out and I cook real food from scratch. Our age and less movement has been the issue. Excited to join you in this journey.
Finding ways to move can be hard in some locations. Have you tried YT videos? There are so many options and levels and exercise types. YOu might find something you love.
@@todayissomeday I’m a person that needs to get out of my house to exercise. Where we are now for 2 months, joined a “power” yoga studio and there is a great bike trail a mile away that I can ride to so that’s been good! We’re actually buying an RV home base right now. I went from marathoner (can’t run anymore) to terrible numbers and meds.
Phil is the same way. He just cant get motivated in the house. He loves a gym! We are going to try to hit planet fitness as much as possible for him along the way.
We are weighing in with another recommendation for eating carnivore or very low carb ketogenic. I reversed my Type 2 diabetes and my wife has greatly improved her RA while losing over 85 pounds. Her father died very young and her cardiologist is very pleased with her lifestyle changes. When doing long driving travel days, we have found Keto Chow (a meal replacement shake) to help us remain healthy while covering the miles even though we don’t generally use it at home. A good book regarding metabolic health is “Stay Off My Operating Table” by Dr. Phillip Ovadia. Online resources include Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Dr. Paul Mason, Dr. Nadir Ali. BTW - we are in Boerne
Very doable. You've got the right attitude, good information, enough energy to keep going. You'll have so many "wins" from doing this consistently for the next six months that you'll want to keep it up when you stand back, take a look at yourself, and reassess. Way to go!!!!
38yrs army retired 05. I’ve been on carnivore for almost two years I love it down 95lbs starting weight lifting again and jogging. I love it, you will to.
My husband and I have also gone Carnivore. We are 7 months in and both have lost over 30 lbs. Some days we are more ketovore but are on our first road trip with this new way of eating. Our fridge is filled with meat, eggs, cheese and butter. It’s been easier to adapt it to our rv lifestyle than I thought. I feel so much better physically and feel 10 years younger than my 68 years. It’s worth looking into!
We started full time RV life 8 years ago and during the first 6 years, i gained alot of weight. Some health issues caused me to get serious about exercise and healthy eating . I have lost 60 lbs with 20 more to go to be at my ideal weight. Not an easy task at 70 years old. I feel great now! Usually 10,000 steps daily either long walks, marching in place or out on hikes and adventures . Keep my protein up and calories down to 1500 each day. My very efficient metabolism makes me gain with more calories than that. It can be done and now life is great again.
I feel ya, it's taken 2 1/2 years but have lost 175 pounds with hard work and determination. My numbers have improved so much. Diet is hard but I usually make menus and prep before we travel. One thing I do like and if you can is pilates or something like that on TH-cam. Also maybe a small stepper you could use whole sitting or travel days in your seat while riding. Keep healthier snacks available on travel days( trail mix, maybe meat and cheese sticks, etc) and plenty of water. Stay positive and with good mindset and determination, it will come. We are not fun time but since retirement at beginning of year we have done alot more and have found some amazing hikes. You can do it, i believe in you. And always remember you are worth it. ❤
Get a mini trampoline. 30 minutes is all it takes to keep the lymphatic system functioning properly and keeps the extra poundage at bay. I’ve even greatly reduced the cellulite on the backs of my thighs, all from bouncing and having fun. My recommendation is to get a trampoline that has bungees instead of springs. I’ve had both, bungees are the way to go.
Yes, the bungee rebounder is fabulous and also I added a LifePro vibration plate. The mini is perfect for small spaces and does a big job~ look into it🤗 and no, I don’t sell them, I just know a good thing when I have it.😇✨
Hey Stacy! Thanks for this video. It really hits home with us. After 6 years as nomads, we have found ourselves in the same boat. We’ve even taken a break from posting videos over the past few weeks to get focused on our health. Like you, we thought living a healthier life would be much easier as full-time RVers. But we agree with everything you said in this video. It’s not easy. What’s easy is immersing ourselves in the fun, interesting and tasty places we visit, and being distracted by everything around us. But we also got some not so great test results this year. So like you, we are making major changes to our lifestyle right now. We’re with you. To continue traveling we’ve got to learn how to keep our health a top priority. Thanks again for sharing the reality. We’ll be sharing your message with our audience as well. It’s an important one. Tom & Stacie
Hey guys! I hope yall are ok! Thank you for your reply. It really does help to know we are not alone in this. Health will be our main focus into next year! I need to get some muscle on this body! We'll be thinking of you guys!
Thank you for sharing! It’s helpful knowing I’m not alone with maintaining a healthy lifestyle while on the road. We’ve been full time for almost 3 years and everything you said resonates with me. The lack of work routine, travel days, no gym, etc. And, can we add Menopause to the list please! I’m in for creating healthy change in the new year!
I have the opposite problem. I lose weight on the road and gain it, when I am stuck at home. I get more exercise, when out traveling. When at home, all I see are things that need to be done. I really have a hard time to get out and get exercise.
Appreciate you being transparent. It is a difficult thing to figure some of this stuff out living on the road. I hope you are able to figure out the things that will help you find your healthy self again. 🤗- Michelle
Sitting by a campfire, relaxing having a cold one is my nemesis and needs to be kept under control. Walking and exploring the areas around the campgrounds is a must.
Since I have Celiac, we no longer eat junk food and have to be careful on the diet front. Found it out in 2015, surprise was with no gluten (wheat, barley, rye) my inflammation went way down as did the overall carb consumption. Reading labels on everything is just part of life and you would not believe wheat and crap in food, sauces, everything, they even use gluten in mixed spices.
Wow, you got this, glad to hear you have figured out what you need to do it is what I need to do too. SO, I will join you on your journey. I have a lost a lot of muscle and gained a lot of fat , so time to change this . Been watching you guys for a few years now and totally enjoy your videos so I am going to cheer you on and get myself in better shape too ! You go girl !
I retired almost 3 years ago at age 55, first from the Navy and then from Raytheon. One thing I have found is you have to have something to do almost every day. There are those days you don't feel like doing anything. We did adopt a puppy about 2 years ago and she keeps me busy, which I love Stay positive at anything you do in life. We also have a RV and off-road toys. That is mostly in the winter months.
We are in our home , not traveling . My husband retired June 1 , I had a heart attack and emergency quadruple bypass surgery mid September . We are struggling to get on a schedule as well ! Both of us need to lose some weight and although we are eating pretty heathy because of my heart we need to watch portions and start moving . I no longer have any restrictions so we joined our cities senior senter they has an amazing state of the art gym . We start tomorrow. It will be fun to follow you on your health journey while we are on ours . One day soon we hope to get an Rv and travel too ! Need to build those good habits now ! 😁
Thanks for sharing this. As someone who has been full time for just over 3 years I can 100% relate to everything you said. I have been working with Chris from Irene Iron Travels since August 2023 and feel like it was the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. My strength has increased so much and I definitely have muscle definition that I didn’t have before. Look forward to being in the next challenge with you. I used to do half marathons every year before COVID. I’m looking for a really good one that doesn’t break the bank to get me motivated to go running again.
Working on retirement, but stuck in a chair for my job and it is taking it's toll. Then the long winters in AK, add a few more lbs each year. The struggle is real, and I like how you are holding yourself accountable....publicly. Good for you! I have a long..long..ways to go. Thanks for honesty.
When we lived full time in our RV I bought a set of dumbbells and used them every other day to get in my strength workout. I also walked everyday in the campgrounds for up to an hour. Now that we're back in sticks and bricks I keep up the same routine. Dumbbells don't take up much space and you can use them in the RV or even better outside.
As I started this video I wanted to yell at the screen, "Don't you know Christine??? Irene Iron Fitness is amazing!! Sounds like you made the connection! We are just about to become full time, part timers. For the last few years I've been working with Chris and I have found her approach and recipes to be the foundation of my health and fitness! Progress not perfection! I'm looking forward to your reports!
We travel a lot in our motorhome and winter in Florida and it almost ruined our health too. If not for my husband’s recent cancer diagnosis, we’s still be headed down a bad path. Seriously, people in Florida drink alcohol with every meal including breakfast. Now we’re Mediterranean diet, low-carb, mostly plant-based, minimal alcohol and weight lifting added to build muscle. There is really something to our new plan. We’ve both lost weight, cut body fat, reduced inflammation and haven’t felt this good in 30 years. Cancer unfortunately is a really good motivator but looking good and feeling good is much better than any food or drink tastes.
This was very big of you (lol) to share this portion of your on the road living. Thanks for looking out for us and hopefully we will see you on the road.
Three years fulltime and I understand where you are coming from. We need to prioritize health and not letting health be in the when I have a chance time. Good luck, Stacy and Phil.
Loved your video Stacey! We have been in our RV in one place for five weeks & I have gained way too much weight. I have really gotten depressed about getting so out of shape. You really inspired me to stop this right now & start working on getting back in good shape & eating more healthy. I can do this! I AM going to do this! Thank you for the inspiration! God Bless you! Maybe we will see you at the Tampa RV Show! ❤❤
This is so timely! We definitely have to make some health changes too. Will be following along to see how you are doing as well share our results with you guys (and the crew)!
Great video! Progress not Perfection! Chris is my trainer! She is awesome! It is very hard to get in a work out on travel days! We are preparing our van while drinking coffee so we can hit the road! I even try to do chair yoga in the van when I am not driving of course😂 Eating healthy on the road is a challenge too especially if you travel daily. Thank goodness we are part time RVers! I love traveling in our new Class B van but I also love the consistency of diet and exercise when home!
You have to make exercise and healthy eating a priority no matter what your lifestyle is. There is no option. I work 60 hours a week and still make it happen.
Full time for the last 14 months in our Class A, and we have never gained so much weight. This is also taking into a account we ride our bikes (at every opportunity - 20 miles is our min) and hike (for example, Angels Landing). We also try not to eat out much and cook our own meals. But wow, after 11,000 miles, 20 states, and 32 campgrounds, we gained around 15 lbs each. We have not found the solution yet but are trying to be even more active and absolutely staying away from fast food as we dig in for winter in the North Georgia mountains. We use a Garmin scale to measure BMI and weight. By the way, great video and timely!
Spell check, I apologize, you are so BRAVE. And you are a motivator. My wife has joined the challenge and I will be following along with her and supporting her. Go Team Stacey, Chris and all others who want to make a positive change to their life!!!
Hi Stacy - I watched your video when it came out and I have thought of you ever since. I’m impressed that you’re starting your “get healthy “ for 2025. I wish you all the success on your journey. It’s always hard but the results will be so worth it. Try not to beat yourself up and enjoy the moment. I’ve fought my weight for a long time and have finally have some peace, not that I’m at my goal weight but I’m trying. We are in Albuquerque for our annual doctor and dentist appointments. Larry and I have had back pain and are trying to get relief. Larry had surgery for a pinched nerve 20 years ago and it decided to rear its ugly head again. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas & New Year!! Enjoy your grandchildren. I’ll be watching your progress and cheering you on!! ❤🎄🎉❤️ Janice & Larry
Thanks so much Janice! Great job working on your goals as well. Sometimes I feel like that scale is completely evil! Thats why I am going to focus on building muscle instead. Besides the scale lies so often and never really gives the full story on health. Wishing yall a Merry Christmas! Yall take care of yourselves! Hugs
I’m so excited for you! Getting or staying fit is difficult and gets harder as we age (I’m 65). I’m in a better place (fat vs. muscle) these days but losing ground can happen so quickly😬. I look forward to following your progress and any advice you share.
I agree with you 100%-trying to stay fit on the road is tough. One has to be deliberate in maintaining a workout/healthy eating plan. As a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for over 30 years-off schedule and in new places is hard. We do step ups on the curbs or metal picnic table benches; picnic table push ups and squats at every rest/gas break. It helps us to keep the blood flowing & alert. Your reasons for staying motivated will help your dedication-you want to do whatever you choose in your future which is easier in good health.
This video is so accurate and helpful! This was my issue as a runner with anxiety. I can talk myself out of a run so easily. I bought a foldable rebounder that fits well at the foot of the bed and easily put away. On non run days I bounce in my Tiffin. 😊 I also have bands and a jump rope. Love your dumbbells, my next purchase, thanks 😊
Wow, absolutely the wrong way to RV. 3,3,3 rule. Try to drive no more than 3 hrs per day, try to arrive before 3pm, and stay a minimum of 3 complete days at any destination-longer the better. What you did was a marathon, not RVing.
We are in our camper 2-3 months out of the year and I really need to prioritize exercise when we go on these trips. Like you’ve said, you cannot count on campgrounds (even in some national parks) being runner friendly. I’ve found that bringing my TRX and resistance bands with me has been key. I can always hook my TRX onto my camper’s ladder if I can’t find some other suitable location. Good luck with your fitness journey!
Same here we leave after Christmas for Mississippi and key west very hard to eat right .for me but we will have a gym in the keys we stay on military base that helps.
We just put in our home gym when we bought our home in July. Thyroid issues for me and having breast cancer 2013 hasn't helped and two surgeries but, I will workout to change my health and eat right hard around the holidays. My husband lost 20 pds already kills me how fast he lost. Keep up the good work.
I tell you..Missy and I are so happy we sold our Cornerstone and bought 5 acres of land in New Brunswick and love the fact of just being at one location and enjoying life...but the days in the RV were an experience.
Well, in a home, or in a Motorhome, you will always have something to stop you from doing the things to be healthy. It boils down to mental perseverance. You have the answers, they just need to be implemented, and That is the hard part.
10:13 Those elastic bands can break suddenly and take out an eye, like with Harry Reid in Nevada. Safest thing is to wear good goggles just in case. It only takes half a second once in thirty years, and you just lost an eye if you don't protect yourself.
Hi Stacy-We enjoyed this video especially since we not only suscribe to your channel but several other RV Travel channels. We often wonder what everyone's helth is going to be like as we watch folks eating frequently and often foods that are not good for them. My husband and I have been eating a heavy meat, low carbohydrate diet for about 7 years. We are not full timers but we have taken several long distance trips and have no problems staying on plan and packing our motorhome with food that follows our diet. We like it because we do not get hungry in between meals. And we can pretty much eat anywhere without a problem finding something we can eat. We too have a set of elastic bands and have also been able to utalize our Planet Fitnessess in most larger cities. Lots of luck to both of you!
Yep, I get it. We're half timers and have the same difficulty with all that good food in different parts of the country. We travel 3 months in the Spring and always put on 10lbs. Then we put the rig in storage (at a friend's property) and fly home for 3 months (Summer) and start our diet. I do Nutrisystem and my DW does Weight Watchers, but we usually take of that weight. At the end of summer we fly back to pick up our 33AA and travel another 3 months, put on another 10lbs, and the end of Fall (mid Nov) drive the 33AA back home for 3 months (through winter) and resume dieting to take off another 10lbs. It's not easy. We just joined Anytime Fitness to try and get more exercise. They have over 500 locations across the country, and it's free with Medicare Silver Sneakers. They all have showers too, a bonus.
Good quality exercise bands work well for travel. You do have to improvise a lot but it can be done. When you are out and about it is much more tempting to get fast food but keep your fridge stocked and it will be easier. You can do it.
Six years full-time in my Class C (Navy vet ~ it matters), dude, 59 years old. Lost 30+ pounds in 2 years. Best shape of my life. How? Discipline (Navy veteran...see, it matters). Yoga and bojutsu (beat a pool noodle to death with my stick) EVERY STINKIN' DAY for 45 minutes. You need: yoga mat, dumb bells of your choice, stick, headphones. That's it. Gained muscle, lost fat, feel GREAT. Oh, food? Daily coffee, smoothie, one afternoon meal (whatever you want), evening snack: apple and peanut butter. Done. It's fun and healthy.
Love your channel. Completed our 4th year of full time traveling. We have a 25 ft TT with a Ram 1500. We didn't know what rig configuration we wanted, but you know what, this is working for us. Yes, totally agree. Full time traveling can be really hard on your health. I always meal prep and we always stay under 210 miles of travel per day. The 750 miles from Kure Beach NC to West Palm Beach took 3 stops, but it was very manageable for us. We always have a light breakfast, superfood salad for lunch and I like to still prep dinner. I have a little dog that keeps me really active, and my husband and I share a hobby of fishing. Fishing from the shore is so much fun and amazing exercise. We also hike or just go on a walk. Thanks for sharing and maybe run into you both someday at a FAMCAMP. Check out Kure Beach FAMCAMP. Really nice.
Thanks for sharing some reality of full time RVing! Over the years of RVing (about 6 months at a time), we’ve learned a style of RVing that resulted in us being healthier on the road than at home…….we generally choose our destinations based on major outdoor sites to see, such as national parks, or available hiking and mountain biking.(we have emountain bikes and love the flexibility to use as much or little power assist as we want). When we don’t have a specific site to see, we first choose our location using the Trailforks app. to find walks/hikes/mountain biking, then find a nearby RV park/campground. We seldom visit cities and usually eat out only when the food is very culturally different. I will admit that what we eat is not exciting…. Often steamed veggies or salads with a grilled protein. But the excitement for us has become the outdoors. With all that said, it’s not unusual to have a PB&J sandwich while traveling -definitely need to improve that! Good luck!
I totally agree with you! We've been full timing for 7 years also, and I too have gained between 15-20 lbs. Everything you said resonates with me. And to make matters worse, we are planning a 4 month trip to Europe! I'm terrified of my eating habits and exerciise there as we will be moving quite quickly through Europe. Best of luck to you and me! Tami (FoxRVTravels)
I retired 4 years ago (L&D nurse). We went full time and I also gained 20 lbs! The food on the road is so good! Losing access to a gym also didn't help. I do try to walk 3 miles everyday, but my age (69) doesn't help. Good luck on your health journey!
For five years I have built a morning exercise routine of about 50 minutes. A lot of birddog movements, some pushups, etc. During the summer I walked as part of the routine. I was 166 5 years ago, now at 134 - feeling great. Slow and constant on the weight loss. Get going and start your routinbe.
Now that you are aware Stacy, I hope you overcome the obstacles keeping you from achieving the optimal health you desire. P.S. Hope you find healthy holiday foods. This time of year can be difficult with all the holiday specialties.
Keep in mind, running/excessive running tends to raise cortisol(!) Also, if you're not aware of Dr Eric Berg's youtube channel, you really should check out his channel, since he constantly puts out super informative 10-15min videos, about nutrition and foods that are most ideal for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Wishing you all the best at turning your ruined health around
We've been RVING for decades and early on we decided to only eat desserts when in travel areas... no 🚫 main meals out. We discovered that different desserts varieties tell the difference stories about the local cultures and the varieties are endless. We cook our daily meals using an Instant Pot, Toaster Oven, the main Oven, Electric Skillet, etc. One Pot meals and Casseroles meals that can be made ahead and frozen are perfectly suited for Traveling and for Travel Days. Plus I know we'll like what we're eating. Too many times we'd order a meal at a recommend local restaurant and pay dearly for something we didn't fully enjoy eating. That just isn't an issue when you cook at home. The savings let us afford other activities we do enjoy.
It's been completely opposite for me. I've lost 35lbs, BUT we do NOT travel a ton. We're probably stationary 50% of the year, and we've built a homestead that we care for when we're home and share chores keeping the animals with our neighbors. If I was traveling every week.. I'd totally see how this would make things difficult. I follow a pretty strict diet too though. I avoid sugar altogether, no bread at all.. and the only oils I use are avocado and extra virgin olive oil. The weight lifting is key!! You may also think about adding collagen peptides to your diet too. It'll help with all of the things you're talking about needing to do. You can do it Stacey!!
I find it really helps to keep my upper body strength to do 40 pushups a day Mon-Fri! And definitely try to walk after every meal and at least 10k steps per day 4-5x per week. We also ruck our cats ;)
Everything you say in this video Stacy is true. We watched you pull out of your yard 7 years ago and we've been on the road full time for 5 years before we hit the road. I was just eating a keto diet that I had lost a lot of weight and I was doing great. But like you say lot of places, new foods all that stuff. So now I'm back on the keto diet and kind of carnivore too much better. Lost quite a bit of weight. Thanks for sharing
Living a healthy lifestyle certainly is a discipline. We struggle to stay disciplined when we travel. It really does require a lot of effort! It’s so easy to cheat…
Hi Stacy! Boy, were you talking directly to me? My husband and I are still living in our sticks and brick home in NB Canada but in every other way, I can sure relate to you. We are older than the two of you, both being 63, but I for one have “let myself go” since retiring. I have gained soooooo much weight (approaching 60 lbs in excess) and have now been given the warning by my family physician that I need to greatly improve my diet and a specialist told me I need to start moving….sigh. It is such a difficult thing to do and getting my motivation to change has been hard to say the least.I am so out of shape I likely can’t even do the challenge but I have started walking and will follow your journey. Please continue to post about it!
I am on a much tighter budget than you guys. One campground fee would be my whole monthly budget! I boondocked for 4 years before I bought my land. Now I go hiking on it every morning after breakfast. Im making trails, building stuff out of trees and rocks and just being a big kid in the woods lol! Hiking while carrying a rock is a great workout!
Hi, we have followed you guys on your channel for a couple years now and hope to cross paths as we start our full- time journey in June! For exercise, we like the TRX. It would be a great addition to your routine. Best of luck from Kerry & Mark.
We're snowbirds, and travel all summer. We're going to go to fewer places, just because we need to get more exercise! We still intend to travel, but after six months of travel, we can scarcely walk. We regain our health in winter, but this really wracks our bodies.
I’ll be watching for any helpful tips. Please share what kind of changes you’re making in your diet. I didn’t realize protein was such a factor. I’m 59 and started walking 2 miles a day on my treadmill a week ago. Can’t say I see any change at all yet (frustrating) so very curious about what else I need to do. Been watching y’all for a long time - good luck!!
I can't say that I'll join you on the challenge but something you might try is a regular bike instead of an ebike or maybe don't use the assist on the ebike. You might also think about some calisthenics, Phil should be familiar with these, come to think of it you should too, you were in the Navy. In any event good luck on your health quest. Keep the good stuff coming.
I love the 330 rule when on the road. What is the 330 Rule? Drive know more than 330 miles or stopping no later than 3:30PM which ever comes first. Good luck on your future travels.
As usual, Stacy. You had an excellent video on a subject most don't want to talk about. Each of us put off the things we know we need to be doing, especially as we age. Lose those extra pounds, eat healthier, exercise more. Also as we age, as you mentioned, increases issues of diabetes, heart issues, stroke / heart attack. Usually face surgeries that you didn't when younger. I promise you, as you age, you don't bounce back from surgeries and illness as you did at a younger age. You were very correct in all you stated. Good luck in your journey to get healthier, and stay healthy. God bless y'all, young lady. Stay safe and healthy on your journeys. ❤👍👍
My friend is Carnivore and now has osteoporosis.
@@todayissomedayI’m going to start the Jan 25 program - good luck!
All the walking when camping is making my health a lot better but we stay for a long time in each location and walk around a lot exploring.
Very doable. You've got the right attitude, good information, enough energy to keep going. You'll have so many "wins" from doing this consistently for the next six months that you'll want to keep it up when you stand back, take a look at yourself, and reassess. Way to go!!!!
Thank you for posting this video! This is a topic that is sometimes ignored for RVers. Sending good thoughts as you work to improve your health.
Thanks so much!
Hello , retired AF couple here been watching you guys since you started and never said a word. Today is the day I do for you; Carnivore.
We started keto and soon went Carnivore. It's been a great choice for us.
38yrs army retired 05. I’ve been on carnivore for almost two years I love it down 95lbs starting weight lifting again and jogging. I love it, you will to.
I will have to look into keto first, then I’ll check out carnivore!!
We are carnivore also ♥️
We started full time RV life 8 years ago and during the first 6 years, i gained alot of weight.
So glad you were able to turn things around!
@ Right back at y’all. We’re in this together. Hope to see you in Tampa.
Yes , You, Can!!!
You got this one day & one step at a time!!!❤
Thank you for sharing!
🤗- Michelle
Thanks Michelle, we are all on this journey together!
@@todayissomeday Yes, we are.
Sitting by a campfire, relaxing having a cold one is my nemesis and needs to be kept under control. Walking and exploring the areas around the campgrounds is a must.
outside of the subject matter, great holiday tee shirt! and Merry Christmas...safe travels.
We did adopt a puppy about 2 years ago and she keeps me busy, which I love
Stay positive at anything you do in life.
That is a great start to getting your health back. Start slow so you don't have any setbacks!
Good luck, Stacy. Nice decision for yourself but also, an inspiration for others. I'll try to get more healthy as well.
Thank you!
I'm looking forward to your reports!
thank you for being honest with us of some of the challenges of being on the road
You’re amazing! Thank you for being transparent. Keep adjusting! Keep moving! You’re doing great!!
Spot on!
You can do it!! We are all there with ya. Thanks for sharing,
You have to make exercise and healthy eating a priority no matter what your lifestyle is. There is no option. I work 60 hours a week and still make it happen.
You are actually inspirational to us! Thank you !
Thanks. We are all in this together. We will find a solution soon now that we are back on our own time and schedule. The grandkids sucked us in! LOL
After 6 years on the road I totally agree, a regular workout routine is very hard. Let’s do this together. Looking forward to future adventures.
You are very brazen! Good luck and I am proud of you for sharing.
Thanks, we’re just trying to be honest about our experience.
Hugs
I am in!!! I am not a full time RVer however, I am on the motivation roller coaster of working out and losing weight.
Thanks for this video.
Health dictates ALL RVer's lives. If they say it don't? Like the old say goes, you haven't lived long enough. ❤ You guys. Can't wait to see you guys.
I’m so excited for you! Getting or staying fit is difficult and gets harder as we age (I’m 65). I’m in a better place (fat vs. muscle) these days but losing ground can happen so quickly😬. I look forward to following your progress and any advice you share.
you are so right!
Good video and thanks for sharing. I hope you share more recipes since you plan to cook more. I love the Ninja smoker ideas!
Great video, thanks for sharing Stacey.
Praying for ALL our RV travel friends to stay happy healthy and safe always 🙏❤️🙏
#MagaMaha 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Just travelled 4500 miles in two weeks from Alaska to Arkansas... I agree with you 100%. Learned enough on that trip to know road life is not for me.
Great video Stacey...You rock!
Love the vid! Thank you for your transparency!
It can really be hard to stay on track. But I need to find some serious balance. That up and down is just too hard!
You got this. You are on your way. Keep it up.
Thank you!
I use the Trainwell app and bring my Bowflex adjustable weights on all my travels so I can continue my regular workout schedule. It's great!
That’s amazing! Consistency is key.
Great advice, and so true.
Thank you. The first step is knowing that change HAS to happen. Once you start a routine it should get easier.
Great information and true for me too, since retirement! Thanks for the encouragement 🎉
Many of us struggle and need a boost along the way!
I also work with Irene Iron Fitness. I love Chris' challenges. She is an awesome coach. Do you have a link for your adjustable weights?
Awesome! We love Chris! here is the link: amzn.to/4fcjX0d
very. very. very. good topic. motivation the difficulty indeed. much appreciated ways of. path keeping the path
I'm fortunate to already be in perfect shape. I'm round!😊
I am with you. Not full time but travel for 3-4 months at a time. I have come home heavier every time. NOT THIS YEAR!
Thank you! Thought it was just us!
You’re remarkable! Keep glowing.
Awww! Thanks so much
Hi, we have followed you guys on your channel for a couple years now and hope to cross paths as we start our full- time journey in June! For exercise, we like the TRX. It would be a great addition to your routine. Best of luck from Kerry & Mark.
Congrats and good luck!
You go girl! Will be waiting to see you on the cover of cosmopolitan magazine!😂
Me too!!
I love the 330 rule when on the road. What is the 330 Rule? Drive know more than 330 miles or stopping no later than 3:30PM which ever comes first. Good luck on your future travels.
We typically stick to shorter days but sometimes we have to book it. We were headed to a Someday Crew event.
It’s not a problem. Just adapt
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your thoughts on a very important subject.
A long walk with that weighted vest is probably better cardio than a run and easier on your joints!
