When puppies are young, everyone fawns over them with hugs and kisses. They remember that the rest of their lives. It's only us humans that forget sometimes how natural this is to them, because we are the ones who taught them that.

I used to have a good boy named Rusty. I was gone on vacation for 2 weeks. When I came home, he ran from me, barking wildly. He was sure there was stranger danger! I chased him around the house a little, then he suddenly stooped dead as he finally got a whiff of me. Then he turned and just about tackled me. 🤣🤣 Maybe his eyes weren't so great but that snoot worked just fine.
Meanwhile I'm at college for months on end and when my dog sees me she usually barks at first, realizes it me, does her body wide wag for a bit, and then goes to bed

I’ve been woken up countless times in pure bliss but nothing *NOTHING* compares to being woken up by a joyous dog who hasn’t seen u in a while
Heaven on earth. We're on our 4th rescue and she is so sweet and funny. Life wouldn't be the same...
