It's nice hearing you reminisce about the times you were there before. No one can take our memories. Alan, I never get tired of the beauty you show. Clouds or not it's amazing to see, and I know how cameras never do justice so I can only imagine how beautiful it really is. I remember how anxious I was to get out after hernia surgery. I was supposed to lift no more than 10 pounds so I loaded up a 12 pound pack and went for 6 mile overnighter. My wife didn't try to stop me. LOL. Great video and I love the mask. Cheers, Tony

My first attempt was from Thirlmere but beaten by the weather 500 ft from the summit. Can't imagine walking up there in 32 decrees temps. Looked like a great day out even in the mist. I agree that you can't beat being there for that feeling of achievement. 9 miles up and down mountains = 18 mile on flat ground impressive Hike Alan .ATB

Looks amazing, I will be giving this a go in October when I visit, very excited to finally enjoy the Lake District I spent many years working construction at sella field but after a day on the tools I didn’t fancy a hike I was more interested in a beer and bed. But now older and wiser I am coming up from Cornwall for a few days camping on Windermere and really hope to get up helvellyn, not sure how well that plan will work with the weather at the end of October but very excited all the same. Great video

Well done, Alan, on another great hike and video. I really enjoyed it and brought back so many memories. It's a tough slog up but so worth it and when you're up there you took your time to enjoy it. Loved your moments of thanksgiving, perhaps I'm rubbing off on you!! Glad to see your knee held up too though it's a few days after when you'll know if its better or not. Skiddaw should be on your radar soon, similarly, very tough at the start but brilliant when you're up there. Looking forward to more of your epic adventures and stories!! Regards, Ashley

Fantastic hike Alan and the views once the clouds opened up were spectacular! So happy to see you safely getting up there. I always go by "hike your own hike" and it doesn't matter how long it takes, because in the end you got to the top and went even further. Funny you mention Skiddaw - that was on the to-do list for this summer for us as I haven't done that one yet either, but Helvellyn holds a special place in my heart for sure. We've done it twice, first time from Glenridding via Whiteside because Striding Edge was covered in Snow (talk about a long long way), but got to do Striding Edge the second time around and it's still one of my favorite hikes. I still want to go UP Swirral Edge (and then return via Whiteside) for the hat-trick. Usually what we say in the US is "double back" on yourself. A switchback is the trail zick-zacking :))) I so enjoy your enthusiasm and the happiness and excitement is showing on your face when you are in the hills, which I can totally relate to. I assume you rewarded yourself with a nice cold Thatchers Gold ;) Cheers!

Thanks very much for watching and your very kind words, something I really appreciate. With the lock down in the UK, it seems like a lifetime since I was out climbing mountains, something I really miss. Take care, cheers Alan

Looked a bit of slog getting up and down but at least it opened up for you a little to get some views... and the clouds always add a bit of atmosphere. How did the knee hold up? I am guessing it was better than expected as you seem to have done Scafell Pike not too long afterwards. View Ranger looks good but my phone is out of the ark (well not quite that old but old enough to be next to useless). I was going to do a wild camp last weekend and gave it up as I was knackered after 18-19 miles... surprising how much fitness is lost because of lockdown. I was doing ok until the last mile and then it suddenly hit me all at once... but looks like you just took your time and why not? What's the rush, we're out there to enjoy the place and soak it all in... who wants to rush the views? The only time to rush is when you are racing the sun light. Take care. Alice

My knee held up real well, as it did on Scarfell and Skiddaw (thank goodness) and I know what you mean about fitness, when I did this last year with Trev from Summit or Nothing, we jumped into the cars at the end and drove to Grasmere, where we put on camping packs and hiked to Easedale Tarn and apart from a hernia, I felt as fit as a fiddle - this virus has a lot to answer for. Thanks for watching Alice, cheers Alan

That's one that I would like to go up, looks steep enough to me Alan on camera, great to see families out and about. Good to see that you've still got it mate and can get up there with that knee. Great views down even with a little mist. I'd take that over no view. Amazing views towards the end too Alan. Love it. Lee
