in short: Those guys are aliens, Joey (the girl with pale skin) is actually a disguised human. Those aliens have a hierarchie based of blood colour (a spectrum from red to fushia). If you're high in the hierarchie, you're stronger than the others and you tend to be more murderous. So joey (the human) don't know at all about all of that. Chixie is low in the hierarchie and also part of a resistance while Marvus (clown guy) is one of the highest.
You can’t really blame Marvus for his actions since being a clown and committing murder is a part of his literal religion. I mean, you CAN blame him for coercing Joey into participating in those religious practices, but you can’t blame his personality on them I guess
I like Joey, but... for the love of god please be smarter in the future. She has like, 2 more acts to get used to Alternia and all of its dangers... Im not entirely convinced she's gonna make it through without getting majorly clown'd again due to her naivety. Pun intended.
I mean, you could say the same about Chixie Roimir. She told a stranger that she was going to stage an insurrection. But man, Joey was being a real snitch here.

I really don't know what to make of Chixie's admittedly half-assed sounding protest plan, but Joey just fully ratting her out and blowing her cover when she didn't understand what was at stake (and then asking Xefros to apologize!) is wild to watch. Really toxic behavior on her part, but not necessarily completely out of character. More like a moment of indiscretion that hilights her worst self. A really interesting scene that most playthroughs don't cover. Thanks for posting.
Well the thing is, she has no idea what Alternian culture is like. She’s treating them like humans, because a human clown performer guy wouldn’t ever dream of committing petty murder or physically hurting others due to political reasons. But these aren’t humans, they’re trolls, and she SHOULD be afraid of Marvus. She just doesn’t know she should be yet
