I normally fly it at a local field that everyone uses for model rocket launches (I specifically designed this one to fall under the class 1 rules so no waiver was needed). Tripoli wanted to learn how liquids operate for potential future integration, and these demonstrations were part of that learning process.
@@TurbulentSphere oh cool, my local club in Australia just did a test of a hybrid rocket to try and get around the solid fuel cost in Aus. It’s very expensive here.
BALLS, thank you, algorithm overlords, good poll
glad you made it out, it was great to meet you and tiny liquid and pipe igniter
It was great meeting you and everyone else irl! I hope to bring more doohickeys next time (although I really don't want to drive next time).
this is so cool
to someone that isnt in rocketry though the saucer was extremely unexpected
F motor in a saucer is the most elite balls project. Was a sick time.
I quite enjoyed the editing of this
I'm happy I got to meet you out there, it was very cool to see some liquids flights. Well, couldn't see yours lol but I knew it happened haha
I think less than 6 people actually *saw* it fly, and most of them had an optical advantage.
Great to see liquids fly at a tripoli event! And im glad to see it seems like you at least mostly solved your ignition issues.
Using Estes A3 black powder grains seems to be working well. Annoying, but the "least finicky" of the ignition options.
4800 miles sideways, .004 miles up! Really though this is lit, and it’s so cool to see liquids getting a chance to shine.
Question: if getting TRA approval was hard, why not just launch on private property somewhere?
