- its a rarest of rare ghazal of Khan Sahab. Its a gift for my new friend Mois Shaikh, who has asked me to upload it, and luckily I had a CD quality version of this gem. Enjoy.
What's so special with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the fact that he had been able to master almost all 38+ ragas of the Hindustani Classical Music, through their deft handling and appropriate application in his divine creations ! To be very true, the great Khan Saab had an uncanny ability to make the most difficult of ragas - like Darbari and Raga Sahera - for instance - look pretty simple, through his midas touch ! Such was the wizardry of this Great Wizard of Music ! What astounds one and all was the fact that in doing so, the great Khan Saab had been able to maintain absolute control over lafz, sur, taal, and loy, without ever disturbing the pristine purity of ragas ! It goes without saying that it's not possible for a normal human being to scale the Height Of Excellence, which the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had scaled, as an exceptional exponent of ghazal gayiki, during his lifetime; unless otherwise one is very highly endowed ! Perhaps, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the finest improvisation artist in the world of ghazal gayiki !
It was as if the 'ROOH'(SPIRIT) of ghazal gayiki had gone, along with his sad demise !
So well so beautifully so deeply so lovingly so wisely so spritually so musically said.... Hats Off to you and May Allaah Bless khan sahab with Jannat Ul Firdaus

To be very true, I consider myself to be an extremely ordinary man and will prefer to remain so, till I breathe ! I consider my vocabulary to be pretty pedestrian ! It's, infact, someone's humility and greatness, which makes one think so !
To be very honest, no epithet is sufficient to describe this enormous talent ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was just incredible - as an exponent of ghazal gayiki ! He was just 'INFALLIBLE' - as a singer - and was, therefore, beyond the reach of us - 'FALLIBLES' ! The illustrious career of the great Khan Saab spanning over almost six decades will speak volumes about his abilities - as a singer of exceptional merit !

That was what is called - brilliant and matchless singing style, capable of raising the level to an epic proportion - without much of effort.! Professionalism, perfection, and sophistication in performance was the hallmark of the great Khan Saab ! He was just incredible, as an exponent of ghazal gayiki !
Such a resourceful singer will ever tread this path again in this world !

Who else could match the great Khan Saab's excellence in clarity, quality, depth and range of his majestic voice and his complete mastery over lafz, sur, taal and loy! Through his sheer brilliance and caliber, the great Khan Saab had scaled the zenith of ghazal gayiki! Perhaps, he symbolized the ultimate in ghazal gayiki!

Public Awareness, Thankful for your kind response. It has come to my notice only today. Therefore, this belated reaction. The great Khan Saab had given ghazal gayiki a new pedestal which will be difficult to surpass. He was the ghazal sensation of the century and beyond! The World of Ghazal has lost its Vanguard with his sad demise! There will never be another Mehdi Hassan!

While bowing down the head in reverence towards both Ustad Amir Khan Saab and Mehdi Hassan Saab for their musical acumen, I feel - there is perhaps no absolute dispute at all over the fact that it was actually the magic of Hindustani Classical Music, which had inspired both these legends and had enabled them in bringing out the best in their respective genres of music through sheer hardwork, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to their 'FON'(ART) !

Few asked the name of Raga of this rare Gazal. One of my friend forwarded me this gazal and asked about the raga. For all who are asking and music lovers. This Raga is from Carnatic music. “KALASAVERI”
Keep in mind that there another raga with “SAVERI” with differs combination.
Bogasaveri, Kanakasaveri,Shudh Saveri, Poorna Saveri, and Karantaka Shudh Saveri also.
One friend her also commented that Mehdi Hassan mastered all 38 ragas. Please note that ragas are in thousands.

I have listened to this rare ghazal - Hai Galat Gar Guman Bhi Kuch Nahi - for the first time. It was another nice composition sung in his inimitable style by the great Khan Saab.How could he perform with such finesse and perfection? Will there be another ghazal singer like him in the foreseeable future? But I am quite pessimistic about its possibility.

Here, in this ghazal, it was as if the beautiful kalam of the shayar had found its right expression in the mellifluous voice of the great Mehdi Hassan ! What an incredible singer he was !
