Hi Guillaume, awesome video! Could you please shed some light on what exactly happens at 6:05? I see it's a demonstration and all, but I'd like to know more about the principles behind this technique. Thanks!

+Robyo Frankly, I don't know as I am nowhere near this level. I have never received ukemi for that type of technique either so I can't even tell you what it feels like.

Yes, cause the aiki jutsu and daito Ryu are certainly war arts to kill people, O'sensei saw that is not necessary and you will be in another level showing mercy and being able to keep the balance or the physic in every movement or thecnic. :)

+Luis Perez All of these notions are also clearly present in the Daito-ryu Aiki-juutsu curriculum. You can find an example of this in our dojo's rules: www.daito-ryu-wakimachi.jp/en-US/practice/wakimachi-dojo-guidance

From the attacks always fed to the defender in Aiki-Jujutsu it appears that at the time of the creation of the art, which was an indoor art used within the palace as a weapon retention art of the guards, not a battlefield/war art, that the most common attacks were overhead strikes and wrist grabs. Today this art transfers well to weapon retention, as it was created for, or for some counter-grappling, but it's impotent against experienced thugs or gang members with western boxing, thai boxing or mma training (which many of them in the U.S. have). Some criminal elements also train in modern knife arts, not lunge stepping knife attacks. If one were to wish to evolve Aiki-Jujutsu into a relevant self-defense art for modern times, against combat sport trained criminals or prison convicts with gladiator school experience with life and death combat using empty hands and edged weapons, one would have to incorporate modern boxing attack and prison knife attack as feeders for one's defenders during training. Otherwise practitioners are little more than curators of an art used by indoor castle/palace guards during Japan's Tokugawa Shogunate Period. (I have trained Aiki-Jujutsu and used some of it in counter-grappling or low level aggressive attacks, but not in full fledge brawls since that was never it's design or intent despite some erroneous marketing claims that it's a complete martial art/street self defense art.)

I see that Aiki - jujutsu is a lot more destructive and has more striking than Aikido...
