Ideally full ppe for all products for maximum safety.. however many products simply state safe to spray in an outdoor setting.

Is it bad to cut the tops of the grass when the temperature drops to under 10c? I am thinking it would leave it prone to deseases?

If its still growing you're usually fine.

Thanks Shaun. I have to say my lawn has looked the best this year than ever. Back in February I was thinking of returfing due to the previous hot summer and the dog doing damage. But followed you all year and it’s looking good for Spring. Keep up the great work 👍

Thank you. Granular Autumn fertilisers may also contain iron if people don’t want to spray (but there’s no harm in doing both). The Pro Clean branded iron sulphate is the retail version of Ferromel-20 (same manufacturer). Comes in smaller quantities.
Don’t forget to apply some seaweed too

Hello, I've been watching your channel for a few weeks now and find it very interesting and helpful.
I have a question for you. I laid a brand new turf lawn on the 8th Octber this year. I have heavy soil and with all the rain we've had, it doesn't look too healthy. Should I be using an autumn fertilizer on it now. Please.

Hi Shaun, my first year with 100% dwarf Rye, it’s yellowed enormously over the past month despite an autumn feed and thinned out quite abit too. Is this what you experienced with dwarf rye in winter and will the yellowing be due to all the rain and poor drainage?

    • @LawnRight

Thank you, Shaun! My lawn recovered beautifully from the September light scarification as you told me and is now ready for its winter nap. Last week, after the rains stopped for two days, I cut it and applied 18-0-30 fertilizer at the recommendation of the commercial company that sells the grass seed. I have learned the garden centers are useless for receiving any accurate information when it comes to lawn care.
The other thing I did this autumn, which is not common for homeowners in Germany, is to have a soil and irrigation water analysis done by an agricultural lab in northern Germany. I was delightfully surprised when the results indicated the soil pH is 6.7 and the micro-nutrients are nearly mid-range of where they should be for cool season grass. The irrigation water pH is 7.7 and is very hard. I thought the higher pH of the water might affect the soil, but the lab and the company that sells the seeds confirmed there is no problem and any effect is easily offset by the urea, or ammonium sulfate, and seaweed extract I apply after each mowing.

Great video . I hate spraying moss the knapsack sprayer clogs up with the powerded iron . 1 litre jug into 16ltr matabi knapsack it just loses preasure. We average around 3500sqm a day thou . The liquid iron is good but apparently too expensive compared to the powder . If anyone has any tips on how to stop the loss of preasure please help ..

Hi.. so heres what I do.. half filled with water.. add powder..fill to top with water..rock back and forth 100 times... this for me in most cases means I don't have issues for at least 3 to 5 days.... then every time it struggles I undo the hose from the handle/trigger.. for me in my cooper peglar sprayer there is a plastic filter and its caked in stuff.. a quick tap on it usually gets most of the stuff off.. or I always carry a small stuff brush like a tooth brush and use that to clean off the stuff....... problem is.. if you're halfway across the lawn you'll have pressure in the system so squeeze the trigger until it turns to a dribble.. then do the cleaning routine with the hose and handle higher than the sprayer to minimise dribbling.. if you want me to do a video I'm more than willing just ask..but in a new comment

I can't buy the same products available in the UK, but learned the hard way not to trust the employees at any of the garden centers when it comes to lawn care. I bought a 5KG tub of Compo Eisen-Dünger (iron fertilizer) after confirming with the resident expert of the lawn department that it was definitely water soluble and could be tank mixed.
I should have tested a small amount in a separate container instead of trusting the "expert". The Compo product is water soluble in the same way that portland cement is water soluble. The two kilograms of powder that I poured into my manual pump backpack sprayer solidified almost as soon as it hit the water in the tank. It settled at the bottom as a solid chunk and filled every nook and cranny in the process. I had to buy a new sprayer.

Great to see you Shaun. I always look forward to watching your videos. I went out this morning to cut the lawn trimmed all the edges. Then got the blower out and the rain came again. I have done what you said in the video. A little bit of iron and some autumn fertiliser so great to know I’m doing the right things. At this point I’m just looking forward to next spring and my plan for the lawn. Keep up all your good work. Does it affect you being able to work when the weather has been so wet out of curiosity?

If your using ferrous sulphate heptahydrate, it is the cheapest iron, the ph of your water source may be making the iron oxidized in the sprayer.
      You have a couple choices.
Add very small amounts of citric acid powder at a time and blend well, at about ph 5.5 the iron "bits" will completely dissolve.
      Pickling vinegar will work to.
If you afford a bit more and use whatever water eddha chelated iron will work up to ph 9.

Hi Shaun, I remember some time ago you
mentioned doing some travelling, provided the channel would grow enough to allow that.
Consider doing a video on how the channel is going, what’s in for 2024 and so on.
We all learn so much from you and if our lawns look much better is all down to your precious tips.
However, each lawn is different and some people would benefit from a more personalised experience.
Therefore, a way to expand your business could be charging for a lawn consultancy service, delivered remotely via FaceTime or similar methods.
