And depending on the group, the company, or other reasons, they usually are given a certain percentage of which they are allowed to be live. Most new groups and their first couple performances (other than if they win and get to close out the show) they won't be allowed to sing live at all. They haven't proven themselves as capable idols yet. If the show, channel, or company has some beef with the company of a group, also not allowed to sing live or bumped up to like 80-90% on the backing track. Example: RBW has a good record because of MAMAMOO so RBW groups are USUALLY allowed to sing live. Sometimes a group might not be allowed to sing mostly live for a while until the beef is settled and then they get their privileges back, ESPECIALLY if they mess up since there is a live audience. 75% of the time, it's the channel/show that is dictating live singing vs pre-recorded vs how loud the backing track is and not the entertainment groups. Because it's not consistent to every performer across the board, it looks like it's the groups decision or the entertainment company's. Sometimes it is but it's usually the show that decides for them, yes, no, or heavy backing track. (plus it depends on how they perform on their blocking prep before the actual show. They were struggling? We aren't going to take the chance. They were killing it and they aren't problematic [not one who changes lyrics on the fly and so on] and we are on good terms with their ent. company? Let's turn up their mics). So just keep that in mind before complaining at the company for not letting them sing live or thinking oh this group/person only does pre-recorded and refuses to sing live. i am new to the fandom i really really thought they were lip syncing but it still shocks me how stable their vocals are like the choreography was not easy they were literally jumping but their vocals were not effected they are truly amazing its seriously scary how same they sound hoshi is just wow i have no words
Seventeen live vocals are so stable and clear, the main difference is actually that you can hear them better. They're so into it when they sing they sing LOUD. Hoshi especially you can easily pick up whether or not he's singing. And when he's not it's because he's too busy destroying the stage with his moves, same goes with Dino.
@@kb-ih7ni Oh yes especially because DK's voice is always very resonant and stable And also yes to the comment about Dino and Hoshi -- I feel that its very reasonable for groups to not sing at dance breaks, especially when its as intense as that
@@STALKER777LK I genuinely don't understand what you're trying to say. But you know for a choreo like Hit, doesn't matter how many members there are, the proper resting time to be able to even breathe again would be a full week lmao seventeen would be forgiven even if they decided to never sing live because their shit is hard HARD. The point is Seventeen always do their best to be as real as possible on stage. They never pretend to sing when they're not, and when they do you can tell and they slay every time
Hoshi is always so interesting when he sings live because he prioritises great performance over great vocals. He sounds best when he's perfectly still but he doesn't care and will go off when he's dancing his ass off anyway. He has made mistakes while singing live and perfectly still but you can tell he's the kind of idol that takes mistakes as evidence that they're live, if that makes sense. We all know he's the most passionate about dance so I don't think anyone expects him to be carrying main vocal stability when he gets the hard parts of the choreo for his lines vs when choreographers put rests for main vocals to sing with more stability.
like he would choose to dance and not to sing instead of dancing while lip syncing like what dino do too, they're telling to us i can sing, but let me show you how i can dance too with fvcking so much feeling 😆
not to exaggerate (ofc they've improved more along the way), but ever since pre-debut they're so stable singing while dancing intense choreos at the same time---not to mention the sync. they have a lot of pre-debut clips and performances from the melona room in pledis, i was honestly surprised how insanely skilled they are when i watched when i was a baby carat.
Idk why but seeing "divorced man" as taehyun's title made me giggle so bad, he really put all his heart, face, and vocal chords into lovesong era and we are never getting him back out of angsty mode i fear
seventeen is the type of performers you have to watch for second, third, fourth and more times to check if they're actually singing live BECAUSE THEY JUST SOUND SO PERFECTLY LIKE THEY DO IN THEIR SONGS YOUR EARS AND EYES CANT JUST BELIEVE IT
Genuinely tho something I adore about seventeen Choreo is that they tend to block with whose singing in mind, especially for difficult notes… it’s so musical theater and I appreciate… but on another note I really appreciate when performance team is just like yeah I’m not singing this bit excuse me do you see the dance I have to dooooo
I completely agree! I wish more dances would accommodate hard vocal parts the way SVT‘s dances do. It helps so much and if done right (like in their choreographies) one more or less stationary person won’t disrupt the performance. Especially if they’re delivering insane vocals. On the other hand I also think that members with dance positions prioritizing dancing over singing/rapping is completely fine, since that’s literally what they’re best at.
seventeen live is incredible especially the dance line , not discrediting the rest but they do put more in effort while dancing which makes it more amazing that they're stable during live performances.
The moments when seventeen sing live are easily recognizable because they give more power to their voices live. It reminds me the moment of S.Coups in HOT, when he gives more power in his voice it gives me chills and I replay the moment 😭

When I was a baby carat, I used to doubt SVT's live signing until I listened closely to Vernon, Jun and Hoshi. They sound slightly different from the recorded songs but still so good. And DK stay eating them CDs before live performances lol
To be fair, Le Sserafim’s song Fearless is really low. It’s hard to sing that while standing, but damn near impossible while dancing. I so appreciate their efforts though!
Plus the lives sound bad because like the vid said the mics were up 1000% so that it picks up the low vocals. If it was normal volume to the point that you wouldn’t hear all that breathing, you probably wouldn’t hear the vocals either. I appreciate the fact that they performed the last couple stages live, but gotta admit I liked the prerecorded perfs a bit better just because of that audio sacrifice XD
For June’s month I hope you talk about Dream Concert (although tbf it wouldn’t be much of a lesson since, at least to me, it was usually obvious) because I was pleasantly surprised to hear most of the groups singing live. THIS is what I want music shows to be!!

I'm letting the internet try and show me something of seventeen that'll end my obsession with them because I truly cannot stop thinking about their tour not coming to my country but this (really fun) video just got me simping harder bc them live vs. pre recorded..the same??????? ffs somebody tell me *dingo killing voice* is fake and stop me from watching it 4x a day, my algorithm is _tired_ also: txt being *hey, just reminding why you started liking kpoping and bopping era with this 10/10 good af álbum:)* to me
Really proud seeing Lightsum in the "super-live" section. You can love them or hate them, but you cannot deny that all Cube artists slay at live performances 💅(Also that stage with Minhyuk lives in my head rent free). And ONEUS MY KINGS. They could finally show what they got have after Luna promotions where they were exhausted.
I love how most of the comments are talking about svt and how good they are at singing. Singing and dancing live are hard to do at the same time but damn these boys... its just a piece of cake for them.
txt always gets me because their live vocals are so insanely good that i'm like, i know they're live but?? are they?? it's too perfect?? but a voice crack, but no really???
I appreciate your hard work on these videos so much! When I first saw how hard the choreo for Bring it on was I got a little worried that we might not hear Oneus sing live a lot, but they fully dispelled my worries! As far as I could tell their mics were on for every performance (unless there's some I didn't watch), though with very varying volumes from show to show. Generally I thought that their strategy of deciding which parts to sing and where to leave breathing breaks was very smart, that's how you manage singing live with difficult choreo.
YESS ONEUS LIVE VOCAL KINGS !! Thank you for including them! cmiiw but I believe they sang live for every single Bring It On performance. In Hwanwoong's parts it was so easy to tell when he sings and when he doesn't and it was so satisfying!
Its easy to tell during Hwanwoong's part because u can tell the difference in the sound of backtrack and his live vocals most of the time. And I like that he usually avoids parts where it's impossible to sound good while dancing so he opt for parts he can sing fully.
Cube have comeback every month and with these videos, I notice they are ALWAYS in super live category! Even their rookie lightsum, it's so incredible tho
DK's voice always amazes me and confuses me, i always heard the phrase "eating CDs" about many idols but they were always used for idols with stable vocals who usually got safer lines. DK, on the other hand, is truly insane. I saw a clip of him singing a little bit of his ost in their concert and he was like going full out, and ever since then i always get confused if his vocals are live or not because??? He's so loud and so clear and he's still so stable...but i guess even with him there are some cues for his live singing(the man will open his mouth as much as he can for instance lol)
There are so many people in the K-Pop community blindly praising their faves for their vocals when their faves cannot serve the same level as ONEUS, AB6IX, LIGHTSUM, and TXT. p.s. is it just me or do you also noticed that most idols who have past involvement with the produce series (s2 and pdx) are the ones who actually give something in live singing?
Lesserafim music bank performance i was so shocked because hybe really said 100% live performance with the heavy breathing, you could hear their movements too that’s what we want to see!
Boeun during that chorus is just 👌🔥! Class:y is honestly one of the best live singers in the industry right now. Considering that they're literal rookies, it really speaks a lot about live-singing issue in kpop. They still need more training in proper vocal support and learn how to use and project their voice properly without straining but again, they're rookies and I'm pretty sure they're already working their way towards it. Their company seems to value live singing very much, unlike some other (I'm looking at you SM😶), and I like it. Anyway, I hope people notice them and they get the popularity they very much deserve.
Another good sign of live vocals can usually be if they have really noticeable plosives, since stage mics don't have super great pop filters. P or B sounds are the best examples; F and, J, Ch are also usually pretty noticeable as well. Occasionally this can be misleading though, like with NCT 127's Sticker. They seemed to have like, a version of it recorded just for stage performances that did sound distinctly different than the studio version, and that had very clear, obvious plosives, but it sounded exactly the same at every performance.
i lived for the oneus segment. is it just me or is it literally so hard to find kpop channels who acknowledge those boys' talent and their bombass music? also minhyuk in that lightsum stage made me gasp out loud.
I was waiting so much for this video because May was PACKED with comebacks, but then I realized that June was also packed and July is not going to slow down... Wishing you luck on keeping up with everything 🤣
Seventeen's Hoshi, Dk, and Seungkwan (booseoksoon), always hype the members when the last chorus of their songs comes. And to talk abt HOT, they even have a few ad libs in their dance practice videos too
This is slightly unrelated but Ive been on a VICTON binge and I was surprised when I heard the group's recent (actual) live performances (since Im not one to watch live performances cuz of laziness lol). And let me just tell you that they have improved SO much, esp the weaker vocalists. Im so proud of them T.T
That mubank comeback stage is my favorite. If you notice, taehyun cracked his voice twice and beomgyu sang his part in lower note than the original song but that's how I knew they were singing live

no escape from astro's rapline i fear!
vocal rocky starting to get the chance to shine is amazing glad he's getting to sing more now!
those seventeen vocals had me SHOOKT. truly one of the best in the entire kpop industry next to btob and exo
I was waiting for may's pre recorded lessons so faaar TT
I'm letting the internet try and show me something of seventeen that'll end my obsession with them because I truly cannot stop thinking about their tour not coming to my country but this (really fun) video just got me simping harder bc them live vs. pre recorded..the same??????? ffs somebody tell me *dingo killing voice* is fake and stop me from watching it 4x a day, my algorithm is _tired_
also: txt being *hey, just reminding why you started liking kpoping and bopping era with this 10/10 good af álbum:)* to me
as a oneus enjoyer I'm so happy to see them getting lots of attention in the vid! also seoho rap part is leaving me speechless to this day
14:43 damn dude he's good at rapping singing and dancing and has the visuals too. This man is perfect
Woodz literally one of the most complete singer out there only if kpop fans stopped sleeping on him
11:02 - 11:13 when I tell you I could not hear a difference between the two performances, DK you are truly so amazing
Love how at the end of your video's there's always this moment of just purely hyping up artists who sang extremely live like oneus and txt
SEVENTEEN FINALLY being appreciated IM SO HAPPY TT
Really proud seeing Lightsum in the "super-live" section. You can love them or hate them, but you cannot deny that all Cube artists slay at live performances 💅(Also that stage with Minhyuk lives in my head rent free). And ONEUS MY KINGS. They could finally show what they got have after Luna promotions where they were exhausted.
Bvndit are incredible live performers. There are stages in which they don't even have backing vocals. They are so talented
One thing about Cube groups is that they WILL sing live! Sumits (Lightsum's fandom
06:43 my Class:y babies, they're very good, they sang live very often too, do check them out!
Lightsum always delievering live and stable vocals! 4TH GEN LIVE SINGING leaders lets go!!! 🥳🥰
I love how most of the comments are talking about svt and how good they are at singing. Singing and dancing live are hard to do at the same time but damn these boys... its just a piece of cake for them.
txt always gets me because their live vocals are so insanely good that i'm like, i know they're live but?? are they?? it's too perfect?? but a voice crack, but no really???
when seventeens live performances are better than the pre-recorded once lol
I appreciate your hard work on these videos so much! When I first saw how hard the choreo for Bring it on was I got a little worried that we might not hear Oneus sing live a lot, but they fully dispelled my worries! As far as I could tell their mics were on for every performance (unless there's some I didn't watch), though with very varying volumes from show to show. Generally I thought that their strategy of deciding which parts to sing and where to leave breathing breaks was very smart, that's how you manage singing live with difficult choreo.
Woodz's live performances never disappoint😌
ONEUS VOCALS CHEF KISS 💜
YESS ONEUS LIVE VOCAL KINGS !! Thank you for including them! cmiiw but I believe they sang live for every single Bring It On performance. In Hwanwoong's parts it was so easy to tell when he sings and when he doesn't and it was so satisfying!
Its easy to tell during Hwanwoong's part because u can tell the difference in the sound of backtrack and his live vocals most of the time. And I like that he usually avoids parts where it's impossible to sound good while dancing so he opt for parts he can sing fully.
RBW artists proving that they are amazing vocalists AND can sing live exhibit 23487231
thanks for mentioning ONEUS ❤️
ONEUS!!!!! Their live vocals are really good!
lightsum are such good live performers, they even sang live on their debut stage, also alive is probably their most difficult song to sing live
Oneus is TRULY Mamamoo’s younger siblings
The live vocal Kings and QUEENS 👑
THANK YOU for adding Classy!!!! They are such a talented group that takes pride in their live singing
ONEUS are so gooodddd !!!😱
I had no hope for NCT Dream but at least they sang live at the Dream Concert, a win!!
The way ONEUS sings live but doesn't win a trophy 😍
I'm done
I HATE IT HERE 😭😭😭😭/LH
ONEUS NAILED IT AS ALWAYS
Lesserafim music bank performance i was so shocked because hybe really said 100% live performance with the heavy breathing, you could hear their movements too that’s what we want to see!
oneus!!!!! my live vocal boys yes sir!
Anyway, I hope people notice them and they get the popularity they very much deserve.
seventeen kings
love watching these vids bcs ive started stanning 3 groups from them and one of those groups is oneus and now hwanwoong is my ult
LOVE that for you, congrats on being a woongnyeo!
@@shinytomoon ty!! all the members are so talented, stream bring it on!!
@@nosubete. yes they are! ot6 ♡ 덤벼!
This proves that idols are in fact very talented, sadly standars push them to do playback to sound perfect. BTW SEVENTEEN kings of vocals.
ONEUS STAGE GENIUS
i lived for the oneus segment. is it just me or is it literally so hard to find kpop channels who acknowledge those boys' talent and their bombass music? also minhyuk in that lightsum stage made me gasp out loud.
💙
The way Do Hanse sounds better live!!
Damn. Yup. Woodz. Cho seungyon really hype up the song (and his vocal) even without the usual need of choreo for this cb
Rocky will often rap in a tone above the track so you know for sure if they're live
I was waiting so much for this video because May was PACKED with comebacks, but then I realized that June was also packed and July is not going to slow down... Wishing you luck on keeping up with everything 🤣
BREATHLESS WONWOO IM DECEASEDDD JEKEJSFUJKFJ
like the live performances more
10:59 my exact reaction to that Fearless performance HSHSH but I'm so proud of themmm
I feel like they even look more confident while singing live... because they're doing what they got in this job for lol
