I came here to say something similar. My first thought was that the “content” of the “course” is nonexistent. The content is basically “turn around and sell this idea of a course and make your money back plus some.” 🙄
my brother fell for that in the 90s. He spent $1 and then posted his ad and made $3. I don't remember how much the ad costs though but he didn't get rich from that endeavor
Did anyone else do some quick math and figure out the woman might have had grocery money if she hadn't spent it on the course? Making that sale simply gave it back. I get that it's hard investing in your future when you have so little and she was likely looking at it as a way to contribute some cash while being there for the kids but that doesn't change the fact you need to prioritize necessities.
@@LisaHarvey16 It's different than mine too. My idea of not having money for groceries is eating Ramen noodles for dinner five days straight when waiting for my disability cheque to arrive. Not exactly how I imagined my "golden" years would be.

They also put "digital marketer" in their bio. It's almost like buying a biology textbook, calling yourself a biologist, photocopying it... and selling the textbook again.
fun fact: i was just recommended a mrr reel that said something like “when you remember it was never in gods name to go to college and do things the hard way ❤️” i went “oh, she’s definitely in a cult.” looked in her bio, clicked on the $499 course, scrolled down, and sure enough, mrr 🙄
It's such a bummer for actual digital marketers like me that took years to learn skills like lead generation, copywriting, website design, offer creation, etc. to help actual businesses make actual money. 😕 So scummy.
The first girl could've afforded her groceries this week by not purchasing a course to begin with. Essentially her first sale recouped the money she spent on the course originally 😂
So there is only one course that has the master resale rights attached? Because one site I looked at seemed to imply there are tons of courses out there and they would teach you how to find them. I was trying to figure out the upside for the course maker over selling your own course by yourself. So the first person sold it to people with big networks and just let it go? I wonder if there wasn’t some kick back from the first tier to get ahold of this or something. Although they could be doing it for the lulz.
And God told her to do it and wants everyone to buy it too...from her obviously. The whole evangelical "god talks to me and wants to make me rich" is so popular, they all fall for it too.
@@IflieYou know similar lines have been used by megachurches for years, right? God' wants the evangelists to have private jets to spread His Words more efficiently, God wants them to have a big church for thousands of people gather and pray, etc. A $500 course is nothing compared to those.🙄
@@tiararoxeanne1318 Exactly, and they need a second private jet because there are demons in regular planes and you can't have your pastor exposed to that. But every cent you give you will get back. Trump was part of one of those prosperity scams, they think rich people are extra blessed. Meanwhile Trump never read a bible in his life, he worships himself. Jesus on the other hand talked quite a lot about how wealth made it harder to get into heaven. American evangelicals are sheep and they lead them to the slaughter just by saying Jesus and God a lot. I was raised with the catholic church but the dutch catholics are about as liberal as they come, not the favorites of the popes for sure. So i liked it.
But now, she has her money back and of course if she made one more sale, she is in the green every time and has more money for groceries than before. Your attitude focuses on lack rather than abundance.
Zeke and Cooper have recently been having many serious discussions. They had hoped that once Mom had her kitten baby, she would not go into the empty room and talk to herself anymore. They know now that the problem is much more serious than they had first assumed. Each cat is on a strict schedule of monitoring Mom. They don't want to enable her, mind you, but they want her to be safe.
The difference between MLM & MRR is that in MLM, you recruiting people but in MRR allow you to resell a product directly to customers. and another thing is that in MLM is direct selling business were you have to build a network for growth + the income is varied upon the network. But in MRR, if you buy a course for, let's say, $197, you can resell it to $197 and gain profit 100% as long as your customer buys you still get paid $197 per person, thats how it works. Btw everyone has there own opinion, so I'd say it is not a SCAM :))
MRR is more like a franchise business model than a MLM. There’s no downline for the creators to profit. And this business model literally would not work if people weren’t successful in all kinds of niches. The amount of people who are so quick to call something a scam is astounding. There’s billions of people on social media. It’s not that hard to make money selling digital products, which is exactly what these courses are teaching people to do.
@@alexstorm460its a "opportunity" to sell a course for people to compete with you to keep selling the course to others and all new buyer is new competitor. Which makes no sense in business wise. Some how all them are successful selling it, so who are the ones that dont?
It’s like the wave of life coaches, coaching you to become a life coach... it’s a free range mlm, basically but without the boost of the typical mlm structure perks.
This feels like the expensive version of a chain letter where you send a gift. “Just send 5 tea towels and you will get 25 in return.” Thank you for talking about this, and thank you to Zeke for making an appearance. 🐈⬛
Yes! Exactly! It reminded me of chain letters too. “Send a dollar to five people (including me) and get $25 in return. If you don’t send them in a week, something bad will happen to you.” 😮😂
Stuff like this is sooooo prevalent during the recession. People are desperate and stressed and not thinking about the logistics. This targets vulnerable people who can’t afford to be scammed, such a bummer. Hard times are the best times for grifters.
I don't believe for a second that the people who made the course didn't intend it to start functioning this way. Why else would they include the resale rights in the course? What's in it for them - why not just sell the course to new or aspiring online business owners? Unless that's too small of a target audience. I'm convinced they set it up this way so people with no prior experience or aspirations would go "I can follow this course and then sell the course!" and voilà, a much larger target audience.
and I mentioned this in my comment elsewhere here - I would NOT be surprised that the people behind the course have a tonne of affiliate links in the course and THAT is the way they'll make their money. They possibly have affiliate links for websites, lead pages, email marketing and so on and some of them are bound to be needing $$$ to start. (Or at least only have a short trial period before you're charged - I know I do all this type of stuff for work). I would also not be surprised that they totally made their money by also reselling all the details of the people who signed up to the course so now they've got a HUGE database of names.
@@VanessaChatsbased on what an acquaintance told me a couple weeks ago, Richard Brunson/Clickfunnels affiliate links are involved at some point so yes.
Ohmigosh I’m so glad you’re covering this! An acquaintance just joined a week or two ago and I smelled a scam immediately. Glad to know my instincts have been honed by your videos to be able to catch this bs. 😅
It's not really a scam. The training actually is valuable in itself. It's not an empty course. And I've seen similar courses for 2x - 10x with the same content. Are those scams too or you don't think so because you can't turn around and sell them yourself?
Remember that many of these people have massive MLM downlines to sell to, so the numbers aren't actually unreasonable at least for the brginning (not sustainable). That's what I'm seeing from my local Monat director (well, no longer a director, she's dropped way down in the ranks which is why she needs this new income stream I guess.)
It’s so sad I almost bought into this. Do you know any legit course making or digital content resources. The ridiculous part is a course is a training and if everyone is selling a course on how to sell this course it’s like selling Mary Kay. Why not act go learn a skill and teach it so many free and cheap resources that could help people learn something to legit teach.
I found out about it from a friend who used to be in an MLM, and one of her selling points about MRR was that it's a "great side hustle for people who dont want to do MLMs." 😬
Today is my first official day of being laid on top of my rent going up $200 on renewal (good luck apt hunting with no job). Life is very scary right now, especially starting over at 57. It sickens me that these people prey on people in tough situations!!!! How do they do it and live with themselves!! Thank goodness I have a pretty good scam meter but not everyone does. Also a lot are people are in a much more desperate situations than I am and might let their guard down. Thank you for being here keeping people educated and safe! Love to the boys and Harper ♥️
I hope things get better for you, friend. Your situation does sound scary, I'm sorry you're going through it. But you sound very intelligent and I'm sure you're resilient, you'll get through this though it might be scary in the process. If you'd like, I could keep you in my prayers. I had to start over at age 53 and was truly scared no one would hire me because of my age. Most state governments advertise "non discrimination" hiring practices. I look lots of state civil service exams and applied for every state government job opening I qualified for. It took almost two years of working as a temp while I went on state government job interviews, but I landed a job as an investigator for a state agency and have good health insurance, paid sick leave and almost a month of annual leave built up. I would strongly recommend to anyone, young or old, to find a state civil service job and make a career out of it. I will prob have to wait until I am 70 to retire, but in the meantime, I have a cushy office job with a state agency. Hope you look into whatever state jobs are open where you are.
Selling products with resell rights has been a thing for a long time. I remember seeing something similar on eBay in the late 90s. Usually with schemes like this, it's a race to the bottom. When the bottom is too low to be very profitable, people would have some sort of value add or bundle several products together. It's interesting to see a minimum price with this course. I'm shocked that people pay this much when a book or youtube or skillshare or whatever could teach you everything you need to know for under $25. It'll be interesting to see how long people can keep up the the pace of $1,000+ per day. I'd love to see more content on these types of schemes.
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I have a friend who has mlm bouncing for years and she recently started pushing this I was trying to figure out wtf it was but they make it tricky to find info unless you want to pay
@@LisaHarvey16 oh I would never fall for it I am just always fascinated by it all and how weirdly secretive they are about everything they do. It fuels me finding out the info for myself and not providing them the engagement they want 😂
you're right. the course is not a scam. the people who sell it using sleazy tactics are scammers. I purchased it, made a few sales of the course itself, but am using what I learned to build systems in a niche that is important to me unrelated to the course.
but you also could have googled or looked up a youtube for free to learn the same thing, right? My impression is that the info in the course is super basic and freely available elsewhere, so even paying for the info in the course isn't usually the smartest move.
What struck me immediatly: All of them explained in their videos that they are not acting, and that it is as they would be. I found that very interesting. I think it's a safe bet to say that's part of the course. "Be yourself, social media is fake, emphasize that you are "real"".
I love your deep dives! I love how informative is and too the point. Thank you for all your dedication! Edit to add: as soon as I see someone saying they made outrageous amounts of money in a short amount of time I know it’s a scam. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
And then not long after you can hear the baby crying from another room. I don’t get it. I understand being tired or busy, and taking care of little ones is exhausting, but you still have to actually take care of them. It’s like the MLM Huns that talk all about how great it is to have time with their kids while they work, while simultaneously pushing their kids away or walking away from their crying babies. So frustrating!
Typical MLM. 8 Minutes into the video and I still didn't understand what the heck they are or are selling. Everytime they said "I made a sale", I was like "Of what!?".
Thank you for making this! I've seen so many girls I follow recently start sharing content about MRR and tried to look it up on TH-cam last week to see if it was a scam but couldn't find much! I'm so happy you did a deep dive and you explained it so perfectly.
Thank you Hannah that was really informative!! I noticed these videos on TikTok too. Now its the Legacy Builder Program. I was in shock when I saw how many people were all trying to sell the same course. It's a scam loosely hiding behind the "product" of the course, all fluff info that someone could learn in an afternoon on TH-cam. These scams really trigger me. Its infuriating
People keep thinking there's a golden goose. They always find out they're wrong. There is no such thing as "I made x thousands of dollars doing practically nothing and you can do it too. In fact, anyone can do it!" That is a scam. Unfortunately, people who are struggling are all too eager to believe.
Hannah, if this scam interests you (uh, in an academic/awareness sort of way 😅), I HIGHLY recommend Folding Ideas' video titled 'Contrepreneurs: The Mikkelsen Twins'! This racket seems VERY similar to the one he investigated. They all follow a similar sort of pattern of selling a grift to teach a grift that eventually stops working the longer it goes on because of eventual oversaturation, web policy changes, and the work of folks like you!
Cats are the best kind of interruption. I have no idea if my excessive consumption of anti-mlm content has influenced my opinion of this stuff, or whether I just have an innate bullsh*t sensor, but every time I see stuff like this I’m just like ‘yeah sure you did’ or ‘of course you’ve made life changing money’. Even if it could change your life in the short term, I don’t think I have the balls to scam people. I’d feel too guilty.
The scummiest part is the verbiage hinting at drop shipping or thrift reselling, which people may have heard about. It was one thing back it the day when newspaper ads like this cost you $5 to get scammed, but $497 is disgusting.
Thank you for this video! I have seen these reels all over the place. I even joined a group on Facebook to see if the course really does teach you how to do digital marketing. Then I realized by the group members that they were all just trying to resell the course. 😂 I told them that this is a pyramid scheme and I wasn't going to buy a course just to teach me how to resell that same course, then I left the group. I am so sick of all of these scams! I am glad you are highlighting them along with MLMs.
Years ago when I desperately wanted to have my own business, I went to a talk about starting one. It wasn't an MLM, at least this one wasn't. The talk focused on writing a paper on your expertise. I went home and did that. At the time I was hoping to have a consulting business for students looking for a college and how to prepare and look for one based on their interest, etc. Of course it did not go anywhere, I didn't know enough people to share it with. It was before the internet. I did finish my degree as well as a MS and worked with adults as an advisor at a college. Now I'm retired but if one really wants something, they will make a way. Just be careful, and trust your gut. Thanks for your station.
I had to tell you my daughter (4 years old) came running in, stopped to look at what I was watchhing (this video), said, "ooooo, she's pretty!" and then ran out.
I have been trying to figure this MRR thing out for weeks... thank you! It sounded fishy from the get go but I couldn't really figure out exactly what it was.
I feel like I’ve seen this same type of thing over and over - I was buying online courses over 10 years ago and this feels like a new iteration of the same scans! Thanks for getting the word out, Hannah! (And thanks for allowing her to, Zeke!) 😂
Thanks so much for covering this. I was already suspicious, but then when I watched a large group of women that hopped from one MLM all to QSciences at once and have now all jumped to this with almost identical captions, my spidey senses went WWWAAAAYYYY up. 🤥🥴
I feel like these types of scams are gonna be popular in the years to come. Like you said, the original purpose isn’t with ill intent but some jackass obviously corrupted the idea and heavily promoted it.
You know what, with this explanation, I totally believe this people are CURRENTLY making good money, but this is so not a sustainable side hustle. I give it a month before these people are onto the next thing. There is also a very limited market for this imo. As someone with business degrees, none of the content sounds new, it all sounds very basic which is not bad, but like I said, there's a limited market for whom the information would be new and beneficial.
Hey! I sent you a link to an influencer who DID show what the inside looks like on her FB live. Just in case you want to see it. She went really in depth with it.
I am so sick of these people saying they are running an online business or that they’re entrepreneurs because they made a social media account and pitched fake experiences and products that someone else created and sold. YOU DO NOT OWN AN ONLINE BUSINESS. YOU ARE NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR. sincerely, a true small business owner.
some ppl show the insides. the issue isnt the course itself the issue is the marketing from ppl who were in mlm before and use the same tactics. ive seen it. i got a friend, she is on her third course. over 3k expenses. still havent sold anything. 😢 they prey on struggling ppl
I reached out to a girl I followed to ask about it before I realized it was scammy (luckily I did not purchase because $497 is A LOT) and she only sent voice memos, rather than typing! Even for very short messages too. And she shared screenshots on her story of other messages and it was still just voice messages. Which I wonder if it is so the other person can’t screenshot to share info of what is said
I believe people find the voice memos more personable. It’s been a popular way to DM potential customers. You could always say that you prefer typed responses. I am sure they wouldn’t mind.
@@OurFamilyNestit's creepy AF. Getting voice memos for "business opportunities" always lets me know it's a scam. They're trying to be personable to lower your guard so they can get you to waste your money on their scam.
What a cyclical scam. Selling a course that only teaches you how to sell itself.... what actual value is being transferred to your customers? This reminds of the time travel paradox where your future self gives you the secret to saving the world, which you then give to your past self years later.... but the actual secret had no origin. Hence the paradox.

Thank you for sharing this. Honestly as a SAHM I’ve been looking for ways to gain more education to maybe work from home. It’s so hard to tell what’s legit and what’s not. I’ve been looking at Coursera courses to learn new skills but I don’t know if those are just a scam too like this stuff. I don’t even know how to begin bettering myself or keeping up with the job skills anymore. 😭😭😭
There is a lot more value in the course than what is being said but I don’t expect this gal to know that considering she doesn’t have the course. The best intention for someone who wants ti be making money working from home should be to take the course and then utilize everything that is as taught and apply it to their own business or a business they would like to start. One of my first customers was a women who sells digital products to realtors and she didn’t know how to set up a website, create a sales funnel or automate emails. This course will teach her all of that - there are over 100 modules. My intention for myself is to sell the course to create a following/customer base but I also want to teach some further social media skills - I have a TH-cam channel with over 1 million subscribers. An Instagram with 175k followers. I have a lot to share with others but needed help getting my site up and running. I started a new Instagram page and it is growing quickly and I have made sales already in my first two weeks. I personally love the entire idea. Do I believe all the income claims? NO. Do plan to market that way? No. But everyone is going to sell this in a different way. This is not a scam nor MLM.

@@WildVeeI've gone on Etsy and found a product for $75 then went on Amazon and found the exact same item for $25. I'll never understand how that's allowed. Back when I first started using eBay I got so many great deals, now it seems like it's becoming more like Etsy as far as price markups.
They also put "digital marketer" in their bio. It's almost like buying a biology textbook, calling yourself a biologist, photocopying it... and selling the textbook again.
😂😂😂 Accurate .
fun fact: i was just recommended a mrr reel that said something like “when you remember it was never in gods name to go to college and do things the hard way ❤️”
i went “oh, she’s definitely in a cult.”
looked in her bio, clicked on the $499 course, scrolled down, and sure enough, mrr 🙄
This is precisely what is happening! 😂
Love it😂😂😂

I did my research and basically found the same things so I don't feel crazy. This is like a chain letter pyramid scheme.
I thought it was familiar but I couldn't remember why. Now I see it as the chain letter pyramid. Thanks for helping my memory.
I agree with you, I took this pyramid scheme…. Now I’m not financially stressed out and found another scream of income that I enjoy. ❤

@@VanessaChats Excellent points; that would be the way to do it, if you're going to start a scam like this.

It's not really a scam. The training actually is valuable in itself. It's not an empty course. And I've seen similar courses for 2x - 10x with the same content. Are those scams too or you don't think so because you can't turn around and sell them yourself?
How much money has your friend made?
@@DavidTschoepe I've seen the syllabus. It's everything I got inside my $20 Udemy course on digital marketing.

Many are showing videos of their income pages. It’s not all lies.
Or they can pay people with all this knowledge to do it for them too. (Why waste hours learning it when you can pay other people to do it for you?)
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I have a friend who has mlm bouncing for years and she recently started pushing this I was trying to figure out wtf it was but they make it tricky to find info unless you want to pay
So happy you didn't get sucked in by it.

you're right. the course is not a scam. the people who sell it using sleazy tactics are scammers.
It sounded so fake and scammy.
Ah.... coaching coaches, coaching coaches.
I love your deep dives! I love how informative is and too the point. Thank you for all your dedication!
Edit to add: as soon as I see someone saying they made outrageous amounts of money in a short amount of time I know it’s a scam. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
A family member of mine just started this and I knew it was fishy but didn't know the details. THANK YOU!

I find that so upsetting.
Same! It makes me almost as mad as seeing them recording while they're driving! WITH their kids in the car!!

I second that. Folding ideas is amazing
I third recommending Folding Ideas!! His GameStop and metaverse videos are also MUST WATCH
Commenting partly to say thank you, partly to boost and hope more people see this.
The scummiest part is the verbiage hinting at drop shipping or thrift reselling, which people may have heard about. It was one thing back it the day when newspaper ads like this cost you $5 to get scammed, but $497 is disgusting.
It reeks of pure desperation and greed.
This is the same thing as the gold rush where those who sold the shovels and picks made all the money while the gold hunters never did.
I am glad you are highlighting them along with MLMs.
they sell the course but they are not trained to deliver the course. Crazy.

I reached out to a girl I followed to ask about it before I realized it was scammy (luckily I did not purchase because $497 is A LOT) and she only sent voice memos, rather than typing! Even for very short messages too. And she shared screenshots on her story of other messages and it was still just voice messages. Which I wonder if it is so the other person can’t screenshot to share info of what is said
That would make me very suspicious of the opportunity like it did you.

While the quality of Coursera and Udemy courses can vary, all the ones I've taken have been legitimate and even useful courses.
