Excellent review! No bullshit talking or nothin! I wish more pedal reviewers would take some cues from this style of review! LESS TALK, MORE ROCK!!! I liked and subscribed without having to be told!
I bought the TL-2 when it first came out around 2007 and its still my go too metal pedal. I got this one because i was getting 2 peadls in 1 because if you hear it out the tight and loose switch sound like 2 great boss pedals the tight is the metal zone and the loose would be the metal core pedal. Just recently i have had my eye on the catalinbread sabara cadabra because im a huge black sabbath fan but i havent gotten it because the TL-2 can also give me the same tone this pedal can do it all in the metal world with the correct settings.
I use a MZ on my board & I like it A LOT, Now after seeing this i'm gonna grab a TL-2, It has a more powerful tone, Thicker but still sharp, I just like the sound better, I use ESP with EMG 85-81's, I think it's gonna sound KILLER!!
Doc H you're absolutely right! I know this because that is my exact set-up. I play an esp f-350 ltd with two emg 81 humbuckers and use the tl-2 hardwire distortion pedal. I run it through a bugera t50 infinium tube amp and I swear it sounds so awesome that it gives me goosebumps every time I play it. The coolest thing about the tl-2 is the tight/loose switch. The loose setting is perfect for down-tuning (drop c and below). I still use tight for drop d, though. Anyway, I'm totally happy with it
Exactly! If you run a boost or overdrive before the hardwire it sounds insane, a horizon precision drive or tune scream turn it into a chugging metal machine.
I played with a metal zone for a little while. Then I came the TL2 and played them beside each other, the TL2 had way more clarity and output. I play on the tight setting because i played my peavey triple xxx and double xx on tight setting. I like that thrash sound over everything. TL2 did that for me.
Great review! My personal opinion, I find the the TL-2 goes well with my ESP KH-2. Use the MZ when I play the Ibanez RGT with DiMarzio PAF PRO on the bridge & neck.
I tried the Metal zone about 3 months. I did'nt like it, to me it couldn't beat the Behringer clone, the UM300. I found the Hardwire used, it cost me 50€. One of the best pedals I have. I wouldn't sell it even for 200€.
The Hardwire pedals run @ 18v internally vs Boss @ 9v. This means that the TL2 will have much more headroom, and clarity across the frequency spectrum. The scooped sound doesn't normally work very well in a band mix and to me neither sound very good that way.
+Simon Smith ...Nice violin like sound on the Digitech for solos!! Is that just the pedal? I Actually have that pedal and is great for Clear articulate speed/tremolo picking for death metal...especially with an overdrive before it for some extra sustain
Nice vid and nice chops It seems the Hardwire has more clarity and more output, however it sucks 300ma and it's bigger so it can be a problem in the pedalboard. Also the Metal Zone performed very well in the black metal passages because of the "underwaterish" tone.
after using both for quite awhile I finally got rid of the boss pedal and got a 2nd TL2... You can dial in any tone you want and it has a better low end the the MZ.. But the only neg I have on the TL2 is a personally don't like it tight, I set it to loose.. It just sounds darker and better set up that way.. Either pedal will be a good choice. The MZ you can find used everywhere, the TL2 is harder to get hold of
Does the TL-2 have any built in noise suppression features? I use a cheap Rowjn noise gate which usually works well with everything, but with the TL-2 on the chain it completely muffles the channel to a dull level. When I use the Decimator 2 it seems to work well with it. Anyone have any experience with this?
There is a nuanced sound from the TL-2 that this recording doesn't pick up, it's a kind of high-end loose crunch sound that I don't prefer. You can almost hear it in this recording, if you know what you're listening for. It is much more prominent in person or direct recordings.
Thanks! I just picked up a Metal Zone for myself and I love it! You might remember me from the Metal Zone vs Metal Core Pedal Shootout, where I asked about both. I decided to get the Metal Zone because it kinda played everything. Also, I've heard the Metal Zone is the way to go. And I didn't want to wait till mid September for Guitar Center to have the Metal Core in stock!
i like that riff around 6 minutes with the 3 string your playing sounds like an open g and 1st and 2nd string maybe around 3 9 thru 12th frets sounds like a sweedish doom metal song i like that riff needs some drums and bass though would be wicked to use t hat in a band you should start a black metal or doom metal band if u havnt done it already
@trillrif axegrindor so THAT was the problem with mine? I never opened it up to see how much dog shit was crammed in there...so I'll have to take your word for it.
I bust out Killing in the Name, Indestructible/Stricken, and Master of Puppets when I wanna test tones. This whole chug and crap riff thing is boring. Lol but a decent test nonetheless. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks mate
Sir, this is a demo. A review would involve talking.
That being said, great demo! Would love to see a review of the Hardwire sometime!

Thanks mate, Hmm come to think of it and playing the demo again I like the Hardwire TL2 .
Wow... That Hardwire sounds pretty good... Never knew there was a distortion pedal in that series... 🤔
I always know where to go when I need a great tone for my Metal Zone! Simon thank you! Hails! \,,/

Love the Freezing Moon riff!
+Clay C. Thanks
Great review!
My personal opinion, I find the the TL-2 goes well with my ESP KH-2.
Use the MZ when I play the Ibanez RGT with DiMarzio PAF PRO on the bridge & neck.
The TL-2 is my favorite distortion.
So many sweet spots, nice EQ.

Thanks for this it seems I won't have to splash out as much on the boss now.
James Guvercin No worries mate. :0)
Hi mate , yeah back ,so much work going on tho, good to see more demos . thanks
Anthony Crisafulli Cheers mate. Glad you're ok. Great to hear from you!

What if you aren't using batteries?
+Simon Smith ...Nice violin like sound on the Digitech for solos!! Is that just the pedal? I Actually have that pedal and is great for Clear articulate speed/tremolo picking for death metal...especially with an overdrive before it for some extra sustain
Great video! I wouldn't mind seeing the TL-2 vs. The Biying Metal End :)
***** Nor would I. I need to buy a Metal End! :0)
Well in that case, I will sub to you to see that video and further videos :)
Thanks Daniel. I'm always uploading so hopefully they'll be something of interest on here.
hardwire tl 2 vs mooer rage pls
Great DEMO!
Nice vid and nice chops

The hardwire pedals have a true bypass.
Metal zone sounds like slayer.
For the win.
I prefer metal dist tl-2 becouse is more stable than the mt 2, anyway the dist of both sound great... but one of them is more stable
MT-2 always!

Digitech Metal master and Boss MD2 is best ever

whats the specific power supply you have for the hardwire tl2? (like the specific cord or whatever.)
***** It was a Visual Sound One Spot

BTW, hope your well, thanks
tl2 for me
oh yeah your video quality is very good , What did you use?
Anthony Crisafulli It's a Canon Legria HF R506 mate
They're both great! But which one in your opinion is better for playing Metallica? Plz help.
I'd go with the MetalZone, but only because I have more experience with it.
Thanks! I just picked up a Metal Zone for myself and I love it! You might remember me from the Metal Zone vs Metal Core Pedal Shootout, where I asked about both. Are you playing standard tuning? Also do you have any tabs? Just after something to practice
No way did you ask for tabs on this did you?
Vladimír Dvořák THANK YOU...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I use the hardwire tl-2 as a clean boost just like the boss metal zone?
TL2 metal distortion
thanks for a good demo, finally a good guitar in tune.

Tl - 2 wooow o.o!!! Led is blue or pupple?
Cocodrilo Del Cuarzo It’s blue, and it’s bright! Been my main metal pedal for years.
@@slappyshouse oh ok thanks bro :D
Metal zone all the way!! There is a reasons millions have sold and still in production whereas the hardwired was discontinued.
so w/c one do you think is better?
NuclearPunishment Coni I'd go with the Hardwire I think...... tough choice
TL-2 absolutely, the one and only alternative is Metal Big Muff ...
I have both of those. Both good, but I end up using the TL-2 more.
that is THE WORST DISTORTION PEDAL AVAILABLE IN HISTORY.it is dogshit packed into a black box with knobs
@trillrif axegrindor so THAT was the problem with mine?
I never opened it up to see how much dog shit was crammed in there...so I'll have to take your word for it.
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 😂
Killer 1:18 .-) THX Man!
1:17 My fav

Name of the Song of intro please !!
Buggianhaha Vuvigi No song, just something I made up.
Ok
I must be a fucking dumbass. I couldn't even hear a difference in the pedals. Both sound good to me.
digitech better
1:19 , 1:46
0:35
Are you playing standard tuning? Also do you have any tabs? Just after something to practice
You didn't just ask for tabs on this did you?
